"S-Sect Master Yun?" An elder of the Southern Spirit Sect trembled as he watched the juicy drama unfold. Glancing to the side, he saw that the sect master, who had been perfectly calm a moment ago, had somehow slipped into a corner and was trying to escape.
If everyone else hadn't been watching Yun Chong, he probably would have made a clean getaway already. Even now, he was still doing his best to evade everyone's eyes.
"Little Bai, tell me how your disciple did in this competition," the Grand Elder suddenly said, drawing Elder Bai's attention.
Suspecting nothing, Elder Bai hurriedly recounted his disciple's performance, shaking his head as he spoke.
"Grand Elder, Jiang Nian has good talent, but he's far too impulsive. He didn't even make it through the first trial. Someone stole his wooden token. He still needs more tempering."
The Grand Elder nodded slightly. "He's already thirty. This time, he just happened to fall within the age limit. He won't have another chance to enter the Four-Region Grand Competition. Have a proper talk with him and comfort him."
Without betraying anything, the Grand Elder chatted with the elder opposite him. By the time Elder Bai and the other elders realized what had happened, Yun Chong, who had been standing in the corner moments ago, had vanished.
Everyone exchanged bewildered looks, unsure when Yun Chong had left. Only the Grand Elder breathed a sigh of relief.
What else could he do? He was Yun Chong's master. When his disciple lost face, so did he! Better to let Yun Chong make a run for it. Staying here would only make things more awkward.
The others knew nothing of the Grand Elder's intentions and felt deeply disappointed that they hadn't been able to ask about what had happened back then
