Zhang Jue stared at the Heavenly Book in his hands as though dreaming. It transformed into golden light and merged into his mind.
Countless profound and mysterious teachings appeared in his mind, divided into the three categories of heaven, earth, and humanity. They encompassed heaven and earth, yin and yang, the five elements, the ten branches, calamities and anomalies, immortals, and much more.
This knowledge was stored in his mind, but he still needed to study it carefully before he could weave it into a coherent whole.
He stood rooted to the spot, reading the Heavenly Book in rapt fascination as golden light burst from his body. He could now understand many teachings he had never even heard of before.
That touch of the Old Immortal of Southern Florescence's finger had granted Zhang Jue a half-immortal physique. This special constitution resembled that of an immortal, amplifying his cultivation and comprehension of the Dao a hundredfold.
Not just anyone could acquire a half-immortal physique. It was connected to Zhang Jue's own unusual constitution. Otherwise, why would he have been chosen?
After reading it several times, Zhang Jue understood. This was the "Dao."
These were new ideas developed from Laozi's Tao Te Ching.
As Zhang Jue understood it, the difference between the Tao Te Ching and the Essential Arts of Great Peace was that between a scripture and a treatise. The Tao Te Ching provided the overarching principles, while the Essential Arts of Great Peace interpreted and innovated upon it in a more systematic fashion, making it easier to understand.
Simply put, the Essential Arts of Great Peace was most likely a distinct school of thought his master had developed after contemplating the Tao Te Ching.
Zhang Jue thought, Master must have some connection to Laozi.
He was also rather excited. Just
