The monkeys behind the old monkey king looked frightened, hiding behind him and not daring to come forward.
The stone monkey stood up and looked in bewilderment at the monkeys sprawled all around him, groaning on the ground. "Old monkey, what's going on? Are you playing a game?"
After speaking, the stone monkey looked at the monkeys beside him crying out in pain, then lay down on the ground himself and joined in, imitating them quite convincingly.
After a few wails, the stone monkey curled his lip and said to the old monkey, "Boring. Get me some more of what I just ate, will you?"
The old monkey hurriedly nodded and had the little monkeys bring several platters of fruit. With an awkward smile, he said, "Stone Monkey King, these are offerings for you."
"This is called a banana, and this is called a peach!"
The stone monkey paused, then pointed at himself in confusion. "Stone Monkey King? I'm the Stone Monkey King?"
The old monkey hurriedly nodded. "You just beat us in a fight. Will you be our king?"
"What does 'king' mean?"
"Uh, being king means we all listen to you, and you get first pick of all this fruit!"
The stone monkey seemed to think it over, scratching his fur with a paw, then said delightedly, "All right, I'll be your king. But Stone Monkey King sounds awful. Call me something else!"
The old monkey king looked troubled. After hesitating for a while, he said, "You're different from us. You sprang out of a stone. We're just called monkeys. When we're old, we're called old monkeys, and when we're young, we're called little monkeys. We don't know any other names!"
Something suddenly occurred to the old monkey king, and his face lit up. "How about this? We
