What made someone a teacher?
Those who attained mastery were teachers.
Among the ten Chosen Ones, there was one whose wisdom astounded the world.
That was Li Er.
Li Er rode a blue ox, roaming the world and contemplating the workings of the Heavenly Dao.
He traveled far and wide, possessed vast learning, understood yin and yang, and grasped the Heavenly Dao. He was a man of great wisdom.
At this time, Li Er was an ordinary person, without the slightest trace of power in his body. His hair and beard had already turned gray; he was simply an ordinary old man.
Wherever he went, people invited him to lecture. Ying Zheng, Liu Bang, and Kong Qiu had all attended his lectures and deeply admired his scholarship.
Today, at last, inspiration struck him, and he wrote with his brush flying.
He produced a wondrous scripture unlike any other in the world, a remarkable book called the [Tao Te Ching].
The Tao Te Ching was divided into eighty-one chapters, arranged into two parts.
The first part contained thirty-seven chapters and was called the [Tao Scripture]; the second contained forty-four chapters and was called the [Virtue Scripture]. Together, they were known as the [Tao Te Ching].
As Li Er wrote furiously, he actually stirred the power of the universe, drawing it down upon Blue Star. He read aloud as he wrote:
"The Dao that can be spoken is not the eternal Dao; the name that can be named is not the eternal name."
"The nameless is the beginning of heaven and earth; the named is the mother of all things."
