Oguri Hayashi, having made a few jokes, did not continue.
Because he knew that teaching the two of them Ninjutsu would not be helping them—it would be harming them.
If they learned any technique from the Book of Thunder, the Cloud Ninja would never let either of them go.
The jokes were enough. Oguri Hayashi resumed his training. The Book of Thunder contained far more than just Lightning Armor. There was the immensely powerful Storm Release, formed from transformations of Lightning and Water Chakra, as well as Lava Release, formed from transformations of Lightning and Earth Chakra.
It could be said that every variation of Lightning Release was recorded within it.
More importantly, it contained all of Lightning Release's advanced Ninjutsu, documented in extraordinary detail.
These were techniques that even Konoha did not possess, techniques Konoha's ninja did not know.
For instance, Lightning Release: Black Panther, which possessed physical form as well as the power to electrocute; Lightning Release: Violent Torrent, similar to Chidori; Nintaijutsu: Hell Stab Four-Finger Hand; and countless A-, B-, and C-rank Ninjutsu such as Lightning Clone and Earth Run.
The Book of Thunder represented the painstaking work of generations of Land of Thunder ninja, who had continually developed new Ninjutsu and recorded them within its pages.
It was also a broad road to greatness for any ninja with Lightning Chakra.
Oguri Hayashi diligently memorized the concepts and hand signs for these techniques. He did not intend to train in them during these three days, and if necessary, he had prepared for the worst: if someone discovered him, he would discard the scroll and flee immediately.
The only good news was that he had already mastered the Lightning Release Body Cultivation Technique. He had safely stepped into the level of a jonin in terms of Nintaijutsu. Even against Dodai or the future Fourth Raikage, he would not be defeated in a single move.
At last, he possessed the ability to protect himself in these chaotic times.
As he formed hand signs and recorded those advanced Lightning Release techniques, the little blonde girl beside him spoke.
"If I wanted to learn, would you teach me?" Her tone was respectful as she sat kneeling before Oguri Hayashi and asked.
Oguri Hayashi stopped forming hand signs and turned to look at her in surprise. "Do you know what learning the things in this book would do to you?"
"No, you don't." Oguri Hayashi answered his own question.
"This is the Cloud Ninja's secret art, the Book of Thunder. Any ninja who tries to learn the Ninjutsu within without the Raikage's permission will be ruthlessly erased if discovered."
"Once they find out you learned this, there will be no place for you in Kumogakure."
His words made the blonde girl's face turn pale, yet she remained calm—or rather, indifferent—as she knelt before him. Her voice was firm. "I want to learn."
"Oh?" A child of seven or eight could already become a Genin. Kumogakure simply had not been driven to that point; otherwise, she would already have been sent to the battlefield. At the very least, she understood what awaited a rogue ninja once discovered.
Yet she still chose to learn these things. What was she thinking?
He could not help becoming a little curious about this girl.
"Why?"
He asked.
"Because it's cool." To ordinary people, that reason meant nothing. No one would give up their life over something so trivial. But to a child, it was simply natural. It was only right.
Oguri Hayashi was not a normal person. If he had been, he would have gone mad long ago from a life where he could not be sure of surviving until tomorrow. Yet he had remained silent and survived, concealing his intelligence and sharpness, disguising himself as an ordinary person.
He was not normal. Normal people would not do so many insane things.
In the world of Naruto, having suppressed himself for so long had left Oguri Hayashi's mind somewhat different from that of ordinary people.
Usually cold and detached, he slowly bared his teeth in a grin when he heard Samui's answer. "Not a bad answer!"
"But no, I still can't give you the advanced Lightning Release Body Cultivation Technique. However..." Before the dimness in Samui's eyes could fade, Oguri Hayashi continued, "I can teach you the foundational Taijutsu."
Compared to the highly conspicuous Lightning Release, Taijutsu was far less noticeable. Its outward effects were merely a stronger body, greater strength, and more enduring stamina.
But compared to this world's Taijutsu training, the [My Style Secret Technique] he taught was hundreds of times more sophisticated than their crude physical training.
Combined with the physiques of people in this world, he was rather curious to see just how powerful ninja trained by him would become.
"If you want to learn my Nintaijutsu, you must become my informant and pass Kumogakure's intelligence to me. This is dangerous," he said, looking at Samui.
No change in Samui's expression could escape him. He watched her answer resolutely, "All right."
Interesting. This girl was truly interesting.
There were not many interesting things left in this world for him. Becoming stronger counted as one. The Reincarnators who had descended upon this world counted as another. As for the rest, perhaps it was simply watching the original story's timeline slowly progress, watching the characters he barely remembered appear before him one after another.
But now, it seemed there was one more interesting thing.
Raising? Cultivating? No matter what it was called, he needed to establish his own power so he could observe the movements of the entire ninja world.
It was something he had thought of on the spot because of Samui's request.
He was not a god, after all. He could not account for everything. But his greatest strength was his ability to adapt to circumstances.
Since Samui had said so much, naturally he could not refuse. She was taking a risk, so he had to give her a reward worthy of that risk.
For example, My Style Secret Technique.
"You over there, kid, come here too. Since your sister has become my spy, you can't get away either." Oguri Hayashi beckoned Atsui over.
Atsui, who was frying tamagoyaki nearby, froze for a moment, then nodded, having no idea how things had developed into this.
But their parents were not around anyway, and Atsui was still very naïve. Since his sister had agreed, he did not really care.
Carrying the tamagoyaki and rice over to Oguri Hayashi, he placed them before him.
"Please eat," he said blankly.
"Mm. Next time, remember to make your own meal too." Oguri Hayashi matter-of-factly ordered around a seven-year-old child, utterly beastly.
And so, the martial arts training of the brother and sister slowly began.
