When a large carnivore-and a fierce, ruthless one at that-wore an expression bordering on pitiful, its devastating effect was easy to imagine.
Shen Lian was hopelessly soft on Chu Yilan anyway. Looking as excited as a dirty old man, he scooted toward the bedside. "What do you say, Master Chu? Want me to tell you a bedtime story later?"
Chu Yilan: "..."
"I think it would be better if you didn't talk," Chu Yilan said helplessly.
