Shen Lian had been run off his feet these past few days. At night, he came home, gave Chu Yilan a perfunctory kiss, and fell asleep the moment his head hit the bed.
Chu Yilan endured it for four days. On the fifth, he finally cornered Sun Binghe at work.
"When I send you away on business, do I tell you to work nonstop for nearly a week?"
Sun Binghe said, "Doesn't that happen all the time?"
Chu Yilan said, "...Assistant Sun, there's more to life than work."
Sun Binghe stood ramrod straight. "Then what is the meaning of being alive?"
With that, he pulled out the stack of documents tucked against his chest, all deals he had closed recently. But Sun Binghe wasn't showing off or fishing for praise. He was firmly demonstrating that this was how a normal person ought to be.
Chu Yilan said, "..."
Without another word, Chu Yilan pushed open his office door and went inside.
Sun Binghe looked at the gloating Yang Bin, baffled. "What's going on? Why was Boss taking shots at me?"
"So there are things even you don't understand?"
"Spit it out!"
Yang Bin lowered his voice. "Those ads you lined up for Mr. Shen are great, sure, but there are too many. Each one takes a whole day to shoot. President Chu and Mr. Shen are in the honeymoon phase. Aren't you getting in their way?"
Sun Binghe choked.
Meanwhile, Shen Lian wasn't shooting outdoors. The studio had air-conditioning, so he was fairly comfortable.
During a break, Jiang You brought him a dessert, and Shen Lian ate all of it. Not because he particularly liked it, but because he needed to put on a little weight.
"Shen Lian, we're almost finished. Are we heading straight home?" Jiang You asked.
"Yeah."
