"Why didn't you tell me?" Tao Zhiyan asked. "Would this method hurt me somehow?"
"Or is there some price to pay?"
Mr. Jing was startled by Tao Zhiyan's questions.
He composed himself a little and spoke again. "There is no such method. You can either leave or stay. You have to choose one."
But Tao Zhiyan shook his head. "There has to be."
Tao Zhiyan couldn't choose between the two.
He couldn't let his roommates blame themselves for the rest of their lives. The three of them had taught him so much. Without them, he wouldn't be who he was today.
But he couldn't let Feng Ze die of depression, either.
Tao Zhiyan had never fallen for anyone before. This was the first time he had fallen in love.
It was also the first time he had learned what love was really like.
When those feelings first came, they were a little sudden, a little heart-fluttering.
Then came a little ache, a little bitterness.
But more than anything, there was sweetness and joy.
The thought of parting from him made his heart race and left him struggling to breathe. Facing their separation frightened him.
In truth, Tao Zhiyan had never imagined what growing old would be like.
It was only that day, sitting beside Feng Ze beneath the setting sun, that he had suddenly wished to grow old with someone and watch the sunsets together.
This was the first time Tao Zhiyan had desperately wanted something.
He had already abandoned Feng Ze once. He couldn't do it a second time.
"Please help me, Mr. Jing." Tao Zhiyan's eyes burned as he lowered his gaze and turned his head aside.
Overwhelmed, he couldn't help rubbing his eyes. "There has to be a way, right? Right?"
"I know Feng Ze too well."
