Feng Ze had never felt so guilty in his life.
He paused for a few seconds, then happened to spot a convenience store ahead and turned into it. "I drank too much. Came out to buy some hangover candy."
Feng Ze switched straight to the rear camera, not daring to show his face for fear Tao Zhiyan would see through him and expose tomorrow's plans.
Tao Zhiyan found it rather funny. He had never seen President Feng act like this before.
"Mr. Feng, why do you turn into a different person on business trips?" Tao Zhiyan deliberately softened his voice, gazing into the camera with a faint smile. "Don't you miss me?"
Feng Ze took a deep breath and quietly put his earphones on properly.
It seemed a certain Mr. Tao had come prepared.
"A little."
Tao Zhiyan raised his brows. "Only a little?"
Feng Ze chuckled. "A little more than you."
"Nonsense," Tao Zhiyan protested. "Clearly, I've got you beat."
President Feng disagreed. "I object."
"Objection overruled."
Their conversation was barely more mature than a pair of elementary schoolers'.
Feng Ze wandered aimlessly around the convenience store.
The man clearly didn't shop much and had no idea where things were stocked. He claimed he was buying hangover candy, yet somehow ended up in the fresh food section.
Tao Zhiyan kindly reminded him, "The hangover candy isn't there."
Feng Ze asked, "Where is it?"
"Little things like that are by the checkout."
Feng Ze acknowledged that and turned toward the checkout.
Sure enough, a set of shelves beside the register held all sorts of small items.
The second shelf was filled with hangover candy in so many flavors and colors that it was dizzying.
