Every player gathered with the army received the quest, without exception, whether they belonged to a battle group or played solo, whether they specialized in combat, crafting, or simply enjoying the scenery.
Some were thrilled by Prince Chris's quest and eager to advance the main storyline. Others were indifferent, because the quest required them to march through the night, then launch a surprise attack on Minisia's army and hold it back from reaching Votradnoi.
This was no easy task. Even setting everything else aside, traveling at night alone was enough to leave anyone exhausted in body and mind... Of course, it was the game characters who got tired. The players could simply log out, switch off their computers, and let their intelligent assistants handle the journey.
Overall, the vast majority accepted the quest, eager to advance the main storyline and allow more players into the game. Only a small minority had no interest.
Withdrawing an army was never easy, but sometimes, if you were willing to pay the price, a forced march was still possible.
At Minisia's army camp, a day's journey from Votradnoi, the sentry stationed atop the hills beside the camp rubbed his eyes hard as the first rays of sunlight pierced the darkness and lit up the land.
"Our relief will be here soon. What do you think we're having for breakfast today?"
His fellow sentry yawned as he asked Wade.
"Who knows? Probably oatmeal. If we're lucky, there might be some smoked meat."
Wade rubbed his bleary eyes, a note of resignation in his voice.
"No point thinking about it now, though. Let's make it through to the change of watch first."
"You're no fun. Can't you be more optimistic? Maybe we'll get black bread and fried eggs this morning?"
"You're way too optimistic, brother..."
