The players lived up to Charles's expectations. Over the next day and night, the other three nobles suffered assassinations and attacks in succession. Two of the three targets died.

Only Baron Mario, who had hidden in the Noble District under heavy guard, survived.

The reason for his survival was simple: he had so many protectors that even the thirty-odd players from the Little Erlang Backpack Corps needed considerable time to break through them during their surprise attack.

In those precious moments, Baron Mario wisely chose not to flee outside, but instead hid in a secret chamber within his residence.

When the players stormed into the house, they failed to find their mission target even after practically digging up every inch of the place.

The players of the Little Erlang Backpack Corps had little time. Before they could find Baron Mario amid their furious rampage through the house, the Noble Private Army troops converging from every direction surrounded them and killed them inside. Apart from the members providing covering fire from the perimeter, none of the assault team survived.

And so, within two days, three of the four targets Charles had given them died in succession.

The deaths of those three brought the nobles, who had been showing signs of division, back together at once.

None of them were fools. With these successive assassinations coming on top of their earlier clash with the Royal Guard, the nobles who had yet to leave Treasure Island City quickly realized that someone was pulling strings behind the scenes.

It was not as though no attackers had been captured during this series of clashes. Unfortunately, the attacker they had caught was far too tight-lipped. No matter how much pain the interrogation officers inflicted on him, he did not care.

He could even roar with laughter
