"A Meng, check the news. This has already made the news overseas," a teammate said in surprise, looking at the reports on his phone.
Ke Meng turned to look. The report said Frog-Headed People had appeared on the streets in multiple locations across the Crocodile Continent. The police had received numerous calls and were responding urgently. They also urged everyone not to panic and to call the police immediately if they spotted one.
His teammate swiped up and pulled up another short news video.
Whenever Frog-Headed People appeared on camera, the city was in chaos. People fled in cars, and pedestrians were afraid to venture onto the streets.
They scrolled through several videos, all showing much the same thing. Frog-Headed People had appeared in multiple places, and people filming had captured bystanders fleeing however they could. Reporters had interviewed some witnesses.
Facing the camera, one witness choked out, "My God, this world has gone mad! My husband said he was thirsty and bought a bottle of water by the roadside. Then he turned into a Frog-Headed Person. I never imagined that the husband I'd lived with for years was actually a monster. This is insane."
"I want to get away from him. Humans can't live with monsters. I also hope the police take him away soon. He's absolutely terrifying."
There were plenty of similar interviews. The team medic scrolled through several short videos from abroad on his phone. Nearly all were interviews with witnesses like these, or footage of gridlocked roads and panicking crowds.
Ke Meng could also hear the people of Birdsong City outside the car. Most of their voices carried a stifled pessimism.
"The apocalypse," the Bandaged Man said, lightly tapping the steering wheel from inside the car. "We can't wait any longer. We need another route."
