| Resistance: 10.0 | 70 | Drinking water grants another 0.1 Resistance; reaching 10 eases his excessive thirst. |
| Resistance: 80 | 114 | A blade cannot cut his skin under ordinary human strength. He declines to test it with the Mighty Gloves. |
| Shadow extraction refined | 153 | Removes Ding Yangyun from Lu Benwei without harming the host, then restores Lu’s consciousness to his body. |

| Spiritual breakthrough | 615 616 617 | Investigating his first entry into the Game World produces a vast spiritual storm and a qualitative transformation of perception. |
| Blue Star Will communication | 618 | Obtains the locations of forty-two remaining Doors and several Shadow Stream Elders. |
| Player avatar and Meditation Method | 639 | Enters the Game World as A Meng and creates a skill that permanently increases Spirituality and mental power. |
| Level 1; physical and magic resistance: 80,000 each | 640 | His Resistance Force carries into his avatar despite its beginner equipment and lack of a class. |
| Level 40 | 643 | Reaches level 40 by evening through poisoned weapons and battles against stronger monsters. |
| Level 100 | 643 | Advances from level 40 to 100 over three days, improving his poison mixtures along the way. |
| Level 101; Venomous Blood Enchantment Attack | 643 | Defeats a level-150 minor wilderness boss. The new skill doubles poison penetration efficiency and increases venom damage by 25%. |
| Basic Poison Body | 643 | Integrating poison into his blood creates a damaging poisoned state; he begins repeated ingestion-and-purging experiments. |
| Level 150; Intermediate Poison Body | 644 | More than ten thousand poison ingestions unlock continuous poison production, but the condition rapidly drains his health. |
| Level 149 after experimental death | 644 | Lets the poison kill him, respawns with a one-level penalty, and clears the condition using Resistance Force. |
| Level 202 | 652 | Continues grinding in a level-330 region using Intermediate Poison Body. |
| Advanced Poison Body | 652 | The hundred-thousandth dose unlocks a life-force-consuming poison cloud; detached clouds remain active for up to six hours. |
| Level 289 | 655 | Persistent poison kills, including player deaths, generate rapid experience gains. |
| Level 291 | 656 | Clears Many-Faced Valley while surviving its monsters’ attacks and mental pollution. |
| Resistance: 98,000 | 658 | Flat defensive equipment bonuses offer little improvement at this stage; he seeks higher-level multiplicative gear. |
| Above level 500; Levitation developed | 660 | Two months of poison grinding raise his level. Levitation counters hunters who detect footsteps through ground vibrations. |
| Level 684; A Meng Poison in use | 669 | Sacrifices his life to poison targets who know his name, obtaining several months’ worth of ordinary leveling progress. |

| Cooking-based Resistance tempering | 683 | Enters the Mystery Cooking Pot; twelve hours of processing strengthen body and soul and add 1,000 base Resistance. |
| Physical and magic resistance: 300,000 each | 683 | Further tempering and equipment upgrades reduce the damage inflicted by humanoid dust attackers. |
| Level 950; base Resistance: 280,000 | 683 | Five months of training and a full set of legendary tank gear raise physical and magic resistance to 1.4 million each. |
| Maximum player level; base Resistance: 20 million | 706 | Reaches the level cap while studying world laws; Necromantic Art lets him absorb Resistance. |
| True god-level spirituality | 712 | Can wield divine spirituality and exercise much finer control over its release. |
| Godhood | 720 | Observing Orange Star’s extinction and the boss battlefield breaks his final barrier of understanding. Body and soul resonate, mana becomes infinite, and life force flows into him from the Void. |
| Resistance: 1.5 billion | 725 | Can challenge Cthulhu but still seeks stronger defenses and equipment multipliers. |
| Resistance ceiling: 10 billion | 746 | Further equipment upgrades no longer increase the displayed value. Health reaches 9,999,900,000,000. |
| True fourth-dimensional access | 751 | Uses the Silver Key and dimensional understanding to enter fourth-dimensional space, loosening his bottleneck and broadening his perception of world laws. |
Background and History
Ke Meng’s family owned two properties while he was still in school, allowing him to live on rental income without seeking employment. His classmates consequently called him “Boss Ke” and “President Ke.” Mrs. Chen and Chen Momo were among his tenants, operating a convenience store beneath his home 67 612.
His unusual life spans two settings: waking life on Blue Star and dreams in which he inhabits Cthulhu in R’lyeh. Initially, Cthulhu’s overwhelming boss strength does not belong to his waking body. Instead, Ke Meng builds his own defenses through system rewards while receiving creatures and special items offered by Cthulhu’s believers 33 80 628.
He presents the Bureau with a deliberately incomplete explanation: special items sometimes appear after he sleeps. Their actual source is sacrifice rituals. This supply makes him a strategic asset, but increasingly powerful offerings eventually exceed Blue Star’s Great Filter Membrane, limiting what can cross into reality 73 80 599 749.
Appearance
- Early Bureau clothing: A white shirt, black trousers, and trench coat give him a distinguished appearance during his first investigation assignment 80.
- Altered attractiveness: After accepting a mysterious power connected to Moonlight Bar, observers perceive him as extraordinarily handsome—even when he deliberately disguises himself with an ugly face 502 504.
- Little visible aging: Chen Momo finds his face unchanged when they reunite roughly three years after their earlier acquaintance 623.
- Player avatar: Initially resembles his real appearance, with small adjustments made during character creation; begins in inexpensive adventurer clothing 639.
- Divine form: After godhood, his true body becomes indescribable and emits information dangerous to ordinary people. He later demonstrates the ability to form an observable likeness of his former face 723 749.
Personality
Ke Meng begins as a laid-back, financially comfortable landlord, but approaches supernatural danger with practical caution. He studies the investigator handbook, asks whether Bureau training is free, and cultivates professional contacts. His recurring ambition is to become durable enough to survive the worst possible attacks 53 66 67 114.
His caution does not make him passive. He refuses indefinite protection from fieldwork, volunteers for dangerous experiments, and persists through thousands of repetitive tests. He prefers preparation and evidence, but will take direct action when he believes delay leaves a threat unanswered 152 529 548 638.
His compassion is selective but concrete. He protects tenants, rescues civilians, welcomes a cautious werewolf instead of immediately arresting him, and trains students to carry on his work. When the Chens reopen their store, he preserves the old rent rather than making it free, intending to support their recovery without undermining their dignity 33 506 529 596 638.
Power also makes him more ruthless. He considers harvesting AI dream souls, conceals the death caused by a failed dream invasion, and retaliates against Orange Star after a prolonged manhunt. Later, he recognizes that life in the Game World has made him increasingly indifferent to killing. Nevertheless, he retains his attachment to Blue Star and does not want divine power to cost him human society 236 553 660 723 735.
Abilities and Skills
Resistance Force
His central defense protects against physical injury, supernatural effects, mental pollution, and many item drawbacks 114 277 509.
- Growth through system quests: Video missions award Resistance; he later discovers that these points are plundered from Cthulhu 14 610 640.
- Selective control: Can relax his defenses to admit a needle or allow poisoning, then reassert them to remove toxins 579 643 644.
- Waking and game continuity: His original Resistance follows his soul into his player avatar, and Resistance gained through leveling can return to reality 640 643.
- Durability: Withstands vampire attacks, poisoned weapons, and ultimately Sect Master Jin’s nuclear assault 473 509 513 625.
- Pollution removal: After his prolonged training, mental pollution is removed before it can discolor a top-grade Sigil Stone 613.
- Limits: Cannot negate the False Time Pocket Watch’s lifespan cost. His growing defenses also do not eliminate the need for sleep or make every dangerous source of knowledge safe 568 671 694.
Synesthesia and Spiritual Perception
Ke Meng senses connections, lingering impressions, distant events, and hidden information through spirituality 176 341 422.
- Tracks people through personal connections and mission-related clues 176.
- Reconstructs past events from rooms, objects, locks, and locations; combines visions with learned lip-reading 341 612 615.
- Observes Orange Star, shared dreams, and followers remotely while inhabiting Cthulhu 145 236 318.
- Uses Blue Star Will’s knowledge to locate major anomalous Doors and Shadow Stream Elders 618 635.
- Predicts an escaping Elder’s route accurately enough to meet it in the Void 637.
- Limits: Old historical impressions can become too faint to reconstruct. Blue Star Will cannot readily pinpoint lower-ranking Shadow Stream members without additional clues 618 735.
Shadow-Grasping Hand
Removes, holds, relocates, and contains shadows; later research reveals that it can pull souls or shadows from three dimensions into two 33 53 681.
- Extracts possessing Shadow Stream members while preserving their victims 153.
- Transplants captured shadows into objects or insects for containment and testing 53 160.
- Captures humanoid dust attackers and turns them into afflicted dust creatures 683.
- Its mechanism briefly borrows energy from the Void, then repays it with energy released by the dimensional transformation 681.
- Limits: The weakened Shadow Stream Group Owner initially resists extraction. A distant in-game use consumes most of his mana 469 681.
Sacrifices and Cthulhu’s Authority
While inhabiting Cthulhu, Ke Meng receives offerings, grants blessings, directs followers, and exercises influence over dreams 130 236 628.
- Transfers accepted offerings into his waking room 130.
- Uses Group Random Buff Magic to reward believers 130 236.
- Issues follower missions and conveys intent through an Evil Thought Orb 331.
- Rejects sinister offerings, unsuitable creatures, and items too powerful to receive safely 248 429.
- Ultimately ends the Cthulhu Cult and removes former believers’ faith imprints 746.
- Limits: Early blessings kill some Tree Spirits; his overwhelming dream presence destroys a Centaur’s reason before it can become a useful informant 130 553.
Meditation and Spirituality Instruction
Creates Meditation Method, later identified publicly as the Cthulhu Spirituality Meditation Method 639 705.
- Permanently increases Spirituality and mental power, with a temporary Synesthesia boost 639.
- Teaches spirituality control and the construction of jade that removes mental pollution 596.
- Bases cultivation guidance on observing the outside world and examining oneself 687.
- Writes a manuscript hundreds of thousands of words long, covering practical difficulties and obstacles 687.
- Limits: His personal route cannot simply be copied; the manuscript’s aura makes it unsuitable for beginners with less than a year’s experience 687.
Poison Techniques
Develops increasingly destructive poison abilities by combining extraordinary Resistance with repeated exposure 643 644 652.
- Venomous Blood Enchantment Attack: Integrates poison into his blood and transfers it to a blade 643.
- Intermediate Poison Body: Continuously produces potent poison, allowing attacks from inside monsters that swallow him 644.
- Advanced Poison Body: Releases persistent clouds capable of killing monsters across large areas; distant kills still award experience 652.
- A Meng Poison: Sacrifices his life to affect targets who know the name “A Meng”; damage diminishes with distance 669 671.
- Combines Seed Spiritual Voice and Mental Pollution to teach his name to monsters and leave contaminated leveling grounds for future respawns 671 675.
- Limits: Poison consumes health or life force, can damage worn equipment, and initially causes uncontrolled collateral deaths. Reducing Advanced Poison Body’s intensity also reduces its damage 652 660.
Temperature and Energy Manipulation
The Iceblood Needle grants energy perception, localized cooling, remote temperature reduction, and Iceblood Burst 579 580.
- Detects hidden living beings through their energy 580.
- Freezes enemies by draining their energy; uses precise cooling to silence and incapacitate Centaurs 580 587.
- Reproduces the abilities as learned Game World skills 681.
- Limits: The techniques are not designed for human bodies and cause serious backlash. Resistance repairs his damage, but sealed rooms still require inspection 579 580.
Mind Magic and Mental Pollution
Studies Cthulhu’s knowledge to develop personality-splitting magic rather than relying on conventional NPC instruction 694.
- Creates a secondary personality to receive dangerous memories while his primary personality rests 694 697.
- Absorbs the secondary personality and its acquired knowledge through Cthulhu’s power 697.
- Uses spiritual attacks to disrupt Sect Master Jin’s rationality and defensive concentration 625.
- Limits: Accessing the Elder God’s memories requires safeguards and gradual understanding; Resistance alone would take centuries to prepare sufficiently 694.
Necromancy, Lifelines, and World Laws
His later research moves beyond ordinary combat toward the rules underpinning life, death, time, and space 705 706 751.
- Necromantic Art: Absorbs Resistance from other beings 706 735.
- Lifeline perception: Observes students’ stability and identifies a lasting time-related injury in his own lifeline 705.
- Can detect hostile intentions and sever a lifeline, threatening even a god with death through zero health 738.
- Manipulates gravitational lines to accelerate the stars’ return to their positions 738.
- Enters true fourth-dimensional space and improves the Storage Scarf’s protection against higher-dimensional observation 751.
- Limits: His understanding of time and Big-Faced Cat remains incomplete even after this dimensional advancement 751.
Equipment and Items
Recurring Tools
- Mighty Gloves (6-0064) — Strength-enhancing combat equipment; potentially dangerous when paired with weapons unable to withstand the resulting force 67 140.
- Demon Map — Detects malice as red dots with approximate direction and distance, but does not display roads. Ke Meng can conceal selected dots 157 323.
- Storage Scarf — Stores offerings, equipment, and companions. Its cold side effect intensifies when storing the Spirit-Sensing Fruit Tree; Ke Meng later shields its contents from fourth-dimensional viewing 130 751.
- Thunder Lord’s Ring / Lightning Dharma King ring — Stores and directs electrical energy; provides his Super Electromagnetic Cannon attack 397 509 561.
- Faceless Mask — Changes face, physique, and bearing; its side effect is loss of self 504 612.
- Horse Hunter Leather Boots — Enhance movement and detect nearby creatures; help him scout the Centaur castle 504 587.
- Angel Wing — Grants flight and light-infused attacks; produces white wings and an Energy-Gathering Ring when inserted into his back 248 541.

- Silver Key — Opens or creates extraordinary passages and supports true fourth-dimensional travel 633 751.
- Crystal memory bottle — Stores deliberately removed memories. Normally retrieval requires a soul battle; the bottle later forfeits and returns his memories 628 672.
Survival and Containment
- Elf Magic Ball — Instantly contains Tangyuan during testing. Its capacity is finite, though Ke Meng suspects it can capture almost anything on Blue Star 568.
- False Time Pocket Watch — Stops time within one hundred meters for up to three seconds. Each second costs one year of life, ignores Resistance, and does not freeze photons; sufficiently powerful beings may resist it 568.
- Soul Mother-and-Child Flower — Restores a dead bearer’s soul at the paired Mother Flower, but does not provide a replacement body 548.
- Spectator’s Melon seed — A single-use emergency reserve that makes its eater difficult to target and protects them and nearby possessions from the Void 429.
- Pandora’s Box — A zero-level item supplied by Old Shi; can erase Ke Meng’s presence from the world, with unknown consequences 568.
- Teleportation Stones — Supplies include directional, random, straight-line, and moon-reaching stones 568.
- Resurrection artifacts — Equips several safeguards, including a fiery cross whose revival would make him a flame demon’s servant; he expects Resistance to overcome the demon’s mark 628.
- Legendary tank equipment — Eventually fills every equipment slot with defensive legendary gear. By the documented level-950 stage, the combined multiplier raises 280,000 base Resistance to 1.4 million physical and magic resistance 683.
Research and Training
- Spirit-Sensing Fruit Tree — Fruit temporarily improves spiritual perception and can produce permanent gains through long-term consumption 130.
- Level-Up Fish — Strengthen his monster companions but do not affect players; later fish can raise a creature’s level cap to 200 130 248.
- Flawless Sword — Expands from fifty centimeters to forty meters and weighs eighty kilograms at maximum size. Its sharpness remains ordinary, and excessive force can damage it 140.
- Mystery Cooking Pot — Processes dangerous ingredients into nourishment and tempers his body and soul when he enters it himself 683.
- Virtual Game Console and brain-computer interface — Needle-based equipment that lets him enter the Game World as a player avatar 638 639.
- World-Destroying Magic diary — Entrusted to Tangyuan before meeting Yog; also enchanted to return to Blue Star if Ke Meng dies 751.
Relationships
- Chen Momo — Tenant and longtime acquaintance who calls him Brother A-Meng. He believes her supernatural account, later finds her within the Door Organization, and supports her return to ordinary life 33 623 638.
- Mrs. Chen — Tenant and convenience-store operator. Ke Meng investigates her possession and later preserves her old rent to support the family’s recovery 33 341 638.
- Luo Yuan / Captain Luo — Bureau mentor, teammate, and trusted liaison. Their friendship becomes strained by Ke Meng’s growing power and Luo’s increased formality, which Ke Meng asks him to abandon 40 67 618.
- Director Lei — Guides item testing, protects Ke Meng from premature field exposure, and supports his eventual teaching role 73 152 523.
- Old Shi — Protective senior colleague and combat partner. Supplies emergency items, supports his dangerous investigations, and remains involved after retirement 548 568 580 606.
- Shi Jun / Bandaged Man — Fellow investigator and old comrade. Ke Meng’s cleansing jade helps restore memories of their shared service 609.
- Tangyuan — Loyal combat dog, guard, and experimental helper. Ke Meng strengthens it with Level-Up Fish, sometimes overfeeds or pranks it, and trusts it with his memory safeguards and diary 248 331 628 751.
- Big-Faced Cat — Appraisal companion obtained through his first accepted sacrifice. Its ability to consume gods becomes central to his search for advancement, but its origins remain unknown 734 746 752.
- Shirley and White Sugar — Companions strengthened through his resources; serve in combat and guarding roles 130 509 610 652.
- Black Ghost — Loyal, cautious informant who reports Game World developments and receives orders concerning the First Playthrough Boss 628 671.
- Liu Siting — Cthulhu follower and sect leader whose development he observes remotely; she later witnesses his undetectable departure as the cult dissolves 126 145 746.
- Nara and Nina — Twin acquaintances linked by a deliberately superficial friendship. Provide leveling advice and a Teleportation Stone; Ke Meng later studies the sophistication of their skill mechanics 661 674 675 681.
- Colin — God-level acquaintance with unresolved resentment toward A Meng. Ke Meng’s superiority prevents Colin from acting on revenge 737 738.
- Sect Master Jin — Enemy who seeks to capture and study him. Ke Meng pursues him through repeated resurrections until his revival items are exhausted 624 625.
- Yog — Source of specialized dimensional knowledge and answers about Big-Faced Cat’s feeding process 751.

A Meng and Orange Star’s Manhunt
- Enters the Game World through his self-tested interface and rapidly advances using durability and poison 638 643 644.
- Mass poison deaths provoke a worldwide wanted notice. Orange Star cannot identify an off-world registration for A Meng 654.
- Evades high-level pursuit teams through disguises, spiritual warnings, teleportation, Levitation, and cooling equipment 657 658 659 660.
- After two months of pursuit, shifts from evasion to retaliation. A Meng Poison turns knowledge of his name into a lethal vulnerability 660 669 671.
- Orange Star suppresses discussion of his name, while Ke Meng uses mental pollution to create reusable monster-farming grounds 672 675 684.

Notable Quotes
“Not safe enough. It’d be nice if it were a little harder.” 53
“Humans do have their limits, but that ceiling can be raised. Take me, for example. I faced the supreme leader of the Shadow Stream Organization without dying or going mad.” 490
“In the future, the supernatural and technology will coexist. Spirituality isn’t the only path in this world. There are other powers humans can cultivate.” 696
Trivia
- He chooses A Meng as a convenient username, then realizes it could let Cthulhu connect his player identity to his waking life, where acquaintances use the same nickname 671.
- Despite his influence and supply of zero-level items, he has no interest in taking on the Director-General’s title or workload 596 599.
- His power-leveling puppet becomes more useful for filming, uploading videos, and guarding home than for combat, because supersonic control exhausts his concentration 609 610.
- His legendary tank equipment is documented at +10 enhancement. He hesitates to go higher because a failed enhancement can damage an item’s Spirituality and remove its multiplicative bonus 684.
- His ordinary ambitions persist alongside cosmic power: while a level-999 monster follows him through a marketplace, he shops for pleasant-smelling ingredients to improve the cooking pot’s odor 684.
