Giant Toad was the mainstay of Toad Express. It could travel underground to deliver packages for the Investigation Bureau, far faster than professional couriers and extremely safely.
"How many toads like this are there? I feel like this is the same one as last time." Ke Meng sensed it carefully and recognized the familiar presence.
"The bureau only has this one toad, so Toad Express has limited capacity. Missions without a high enough priority have to wait in line," Director Lei explained.
Ke Meng understood. Their mission was more urgent and had a higher priority, so even though they had applied on short notice, they had quickly jumped the queue on Toad Express's priority schedule.
Everyone else looked at the toad like an old acquaintance, too. The people standing beside Ke Meng all had some measure of fame and had mostly dealt with Giant Toad before.
"This letter is bound for Manha City on Crocodile Continent. Deliver it to the gentleman in Room 421 on Manha 24th Street."
"Understood." Giant Toad opened its enormous mouth, like a gaping abyss, releasing waves of foul stench.
The smell was awful, but it was nowhere near the stench of dark cuisine.
As Ke Meng looked at that opening, his Synesthesia inexplicably picked up countless masses of slime, huge and sticky, tumbling through his mind. He could not help shuddering.
Director Lei tossed the letter into Giant Toad's mouth. Giant Toad closed its mouth, crouched down into the floor, and disappeared.
The watery ripples across the floor vanished as though they had never existed, leaving it as smooth and undisturbed as before.
The chill in the air disappeared, and the temperature returned to normal.
"We have a spy on Crocodile Continent. Once he receives the letter, he'll follow the Network Divine Beast's instructions and
