An Kai was dumbfounded. He stared blankly at the picture of himself accompanying the story...
He never could have imagined it.
He had actually become the first boss of the Main Story!
A level 1 boss who had to be killed before the story could progress, no less!
By all rights, he should have been a player!
Standing inside the mage tower, An Kai could almost see thousands upon thousands of players charging toward him, howling with excitement and brandishing their weapons!
When that time came, players who could neither be killed for good nor wiped out would constantly hound him.
The joy of growing stronger instantly vanished...
Standing there, An Kai cursed that damned God of Magic more times than he could count.
Why couldn't he just spend his free time fishing and drinking tea?
Why did he have to show himself?!
Now he had dragged An Kai into this, making him a thorn in the players' sides!
Standing inside the mage tower.
An Kai's eyes flickered with uncertainty.
Eventually, he figured it out.
There were still 9,999 years until the players arrived!
As long as he became strong enough, why would he need to worry about them?!
When the time came, he could drop a forbidden-spell-level Fireball on them and wipe them out, no matter how many there were!
With 9,999 years left until the open beta, An Kai quietly set himself a small goal on the first floor of the abandoned tier-three mage tower.
To deal with the players' harassment ten thousand years from now, he decided to first raise Fireball to... forbidden-spell level!
Lei En was the younger brother of the leader of Chaos City's Mountainbreaker Gang.
An Eighth Tier-One Level class holder.
Like his older brother, he was a Lancer!
He wielded his spear with astonishing power, spinning it so tightly that nothing could slip through.
His hands were stained with countless lives, and today, he had ventured into the Desert alone.
After leaving Chaos City, he had headed north, traveling on and off for around three days.
All to find a legendary treasure.
In Chaos City, he had happened to learn that an enormous treasure lay here!
Obtaining it would vastly increase his strength!
So after hearing the news, Lei En had told no one and quietly set off on his treasure hunt alone.
He wanted to grow much stronger and change how everyone in the gang saw him.
I don't just rely on my brother!
After Lei En crossed a sandy slope, a lake spanning over ten hectares appeared before him.
Recalling the information he had obtained, Lei En's eyes lit up!
The treasure was beneath the lake.
He could hardly wait to dive in...
"Huh? Someone's here?!"
Suddenly, Lei En spotted a figure in the lake, resting near the shore.
Lei En slowly crept closer...
Once he was close enough, Lei En took out his detector...
[Tier One, Level One]
"Only Tier One, Level One?" Lei En put away his detector with disdain.
He felt he had been far too cautious!
Then he took the spear off his back.
Lei En intended to pierce that ant's body, leaving him barely alive so he could question him.
After torturing countless people, he had found this to be the most effective interrogation method.
Gripping his spear, Lei En put all his strength into the throw. With a whoosh, the spear left his hand...
It shot straight toward the figure's back.
Just as it was about to pierce him.
The man seemed to have eyes in the back of his head.
A thick layer of ice appeared out of thin air!
The spear plunged into the ice and instantly froze in place, unable to move another inch.
The sight stunned Lei En.
He hadn't held anything back with that throw!
He had aimed to blow An Kai's legs apart!
What had happened was rather beyond his expectations...
"Wasn't he at Tier One, Level One...?"
An Kai turned around and saw Lei En a short distance away.
He sneered. The improvement to Meditation had not only shortened the time he needed to gain attribute points, but also allowed him to sense hostility!
Two enormous fireballs appeared in his hands, each with a diameter greater than Lei En's height!
"What the fuck are those?!" Lei En shouted in terror.
He sensed a deadly threat from those two massive fireballs!
"My brother is the leader of the Mountainbreaker Gang!"
Without a second thought, Lei En revealed his identity.
Unfortunately...
Out here in the Desert.
Never mind being a gang leader-even if his brother were the president of the continent's Mage Association, An Kai would not let him go!
Without hesitation, he hurled both Fireballs at Lei En!
The moment the enormous fireballs flew from his hands, another two formed in them!
He had been pent up for over 250 days!
An Kai was going to let it all out!
Boom! Boom!!
The first two Fireballs slammed into Lei En.
In that single exchange, Lei En lost all ability to resist.
If he had still held his spear, he might have managed to put up a fight.
Unfortunately, his spear was still stuck in the ice An Kai had conjured...
Boom!!!
Explosions thundered one after another!
An Kai hurled Fireballs as though they cost nothing, one after another!
Only after his Fireballs blasted away half the sandy slope did An Kai finally stop.
He looked out, but Lei En was nowhere to be seen...
Or rather, Lei En was everywhere in that patch of land. An Kai's ferocious attacks had long since reduced him to ash and scattered him into the world...
"That felt good!"
After finishing, An Kai let out a brief cry!
That outburst seemed to sweep away all his exhaustion. Even his rotten luck in inexplicably becoming the story's first boss no longer felt like a big deal...
He glanced at the spear in the ice, and another Fireball appeared in his hand.
Boom!
The Fireball struck the spear. It began to melt, ultimately disappearing into the Desert.
An Kai clapped his hands, collected himself, and set off back toward Chaos City...
As for Lei En, he was nothing more than an ordinary, blind little ant who liked name-dropping his backer...
"So weak!"
The Mountainbreaker Gang's headquarters in Chaos City.
Located in the city's southwest, it occupied a large compound spanning over a thousand square meters.
In Chaos City, where every inch of land was worth a fortune, the Mountainbreaker Gang's headquarters alone demonstrated its strength.
"Lei En ran off again?"
Lei Ming, leader of the Mountainbreaker Gang and a powerful tier-two class holder, sat squarely in the center of the gang's main hall.
He wore an animal-hide robe open at the chest, with a seductive, scantily clad beauty nestled in his arms, tracing little circles on his chest with her delicate fingers...
The man reporting to him was the big fellow An Kai had met once.
He was the unlucky knight whose mount had been eaten by Gang Leader Lei Ming-War Wolf Polpi.
"Boss, Young Master Lei En left the city three days ago. His destination and reasons are unknown."
Polpi kept his head lowered, not daring to look at the gang leader for fear his gaze might stray to the beauty in Lei Ming's arms.
Lei Ming gave the beauty a hard squeeze and replied casually, "It's fine. He's probably off looking for some way to surpass me again!"
"Hahaha, my little brother is good in every other way. He's just too competitive!"
"Polpi, post a bounty as usual. A token reward of a hundred gold coins should do."
"Understood, boss," Polpi replied quietly before swiftly leaving the hall.
Once outside, Polpi heard the impatient sounds coming from within, and a shadow passed through his eyes...
But he hid it almost immediately.
He hurried away from the hall, first heading to the Bounty Tower to issue the bounty.
Then he went outside Chaos City and posted the bounty there for everyone to see...
Three days later.
An Kai returned to Chaos City.
He spotted the bounty at once.
"Huh? He really was the Mountainbreaker Gang leader's brother!"
After much deliberation, An Kai decided to take down the bounty notice for the sake of those hundred gold coins...
He intended to accept the task of finding the Mountainbreaker Gang leader's brother...
A hundred gold coins were far too tempting!
"Filthy rich bastard!"
I wonder if sand carrying Lei En's scent can be exchanged for a hundred gold coins...
