Power Progression
- System level, cultivation realm, spell level, and NPC quality are separate measures. An Kai’s locked Lv1 does not prevent his attributes, spells, or cultivation realms from advancing 209 323 423.
- Early panels use Intelligence, Endurance, Stamina, and Strength; later panels use Spirit, Mana, Vitality, and Physique. Attribute values also change scale, so figures from different periods are not directly comparable 18 209 423.

Background / History
An Kai previously lived on Blue Star in a rented apartment and played the Divine Arrival Game to earn enough money to buy it. After entering the game world, he retained memories of his life as a player. His initial understanding of the Divine Realm developed in Nameless Town, where he encountered Hanks, Widow Wang, Dong Lin, and Will-Bukelin 283 420.
A past betrayal that nearly killed him made An Kai deeply suspicious of cooperation. Hanks nevertheless introduced him to an abandoned Mage Tower accessible only to First-Tier Mages. Its resources enabled his first major period of secluded cultivation, but the system then identified him as the main storyline’s first boss—a target future players would need to kill 14 18 19.
His early survival strategy revolved around concealed desert shelters, stored food, false identities, and converting wealth into magical growth. Dong Lin’s pursuit and the Evergreen Gang’s bounty repeatedly interrupted his plans. An Kai gradually moved beyond solitary survival, deciding that a faction would provide the resources and protection needed against future players 22 26 29 69.
As Goodness Home expanded, its inhabitants and institutions became the foundation of his advancement. The restored settlement gained a central castle, professional guards, research associations, and powerful contracted recruits. Its collective hunting and resource production supported spell costs that An Kai could no longer meet alone 121 124 140.
Appearance
An Kai retains a youthful face despite the passage of years and routinely conceals it beneath disguises 140.
- Disguised identities: White-haired neighbor, Hanks’s father, and Orc-like Gulair-Kai 53 124 247.
- Concealed clothing: A black robe and ordinary outer mask cover his figure during an Abyss gathering 247.
- Magical presence: Later develops a distinctive ink-black oppressive aura associated with his spells and Goodness Home 421.
Personality
An Kai is patient, suspicious, and intensely practical. He stockpiles supplies before seclusion, checks unknown passages with expendable scouts, and postpones profitable schemes when the danger outweighs the reward. His apparent cowardice or incompetence is often deliberate bait rather than a genuine limitation 26 29 59 411 413.
His pursuit of resources is frequently ruthless. He harvests summons for cores, coerces allies, manipulates enemies’ hopes, and treats entire populations as tools for cultivation. He does not regard self-interest as incompatible with righteousness: when challenged by “Teacher,” he insists that acting for himself makes him the embodiment of justice 75 121 212 237 471.
Beneath his domineering behavior, An Kai develops lasting attachments. Hanks initially helps preserve his emotional balance; Wayne, Chris, and Nurnexius later become the most important living beings in his heart. He fears attachments because an immortal life would magnify the pain of losing them, but eventually ceases treating the Divine Realm as a world he merely observes 430 465.
Abilities & Skills
Immortality and System Access
An Kai’s Immortality talent supplies an unlimited lifespan, while his system permits growth through allocated attributes, spell proficiency, and resource conversion 18 303.
- His locked Lv1 does not lock his actual strength or cultivation realm 323 423.
- Magic stones and creature cores fund spell upgrades through skill points 18 79 85.
- The Side Story provides intelligence about distant events and factions. Early reports arrive a day late, and their ordering later reflects his strength and the factions involved 22 201.
- Unlimited lifespan does not remove combat danger: he still cultivates defenses, avoids overwhelming enemies, and arranges contingencies for his followers 375 397 469.
Meditation
Meditation is the foundation of An Kai’s attribute growth and eventually the core into which he absorbs other spell systems 319 320.
- Passive cultivation: Progresses from deliberate training to automatic attribute generation 177 260 278.
- Energy production: Fused Elemental and Starry Sky methods condense energy equivalent to magic stones 177 189.
- Multiple-task control: Develops from brief divided attention into Triple Tasking 140 166 278.
- Teaching: Nearby mages gain better spell understanding; users of his transmitted Meditation develop increasingly strong allegiance to him 140 149.
- Spell Transmission and Extraction: Followers’ improvement feeds his own growth 227 260 278.
- Meditation Ring: Its Lv221 effect protects Goodness Home against descending deities while he is absent and later supports communication from afar 466 469.
Heightened Concentration and Domain
Heightened Concentration grants exceptional perception and understanding of whatever An Kai focuses on. It helps him understand relic fusion, activate the Divine Court portal, and regulate Secret Realm access 189.
- Omniscient Domain: Reveals occupants’ physical conditions and spell insights, supports their training, and converts part of their improvement into An Kai’s attributes 227.
- Elemental control: His later Domain lets him manipulate its spell elements and draw on the strength of occupants 278.
- Spell suppression: Spirit-infused Meditation initially breaks down incoming spells within ten meters, unless the caster’s talent exceeds his own 149.
- Ten-element absorption: His refined Domain stores ten spell elements and resists attacks using them; the Howling God’s mental attacks are absorbed rather than damaging it 321 323.
- True-spirit preservation: Meditation practitioners’ true spirits enter his Domain after death without consuming Divine Attendant slots 321.
Fireball and Offensive Magic
An Kai develops his first offensive spell from a basic Fireball into an overwhelming multi-element attack 321.
- Early applications: Kills guards, destroys magical beasts, and eliminates the Puppeteer who attempts to control him 26 59.
- Windfire Burst: Combines Fireball, Wind Blade, and Flame Burst; divided attention allows several fused attacks to be deployed together 166 170.
- Ten-element Fireball: Reaches a diameter of one million meters after fusion 321 323.
- Attrition tactics: Repeated Fireballs drain the God of Anger’s Domain before An Kai lures him into close combat 327.
- Other attacks: Uses sharp Wind Blades, dark lightning, and the offensive-defensive Elemental Archer fusion 166 176 289.
- Casting resource: A documented stage of his magic requires neither incantations nor personal mana expenditure, drawing instead on surrounding mana elements and heaven-and-earth power. Exhausting that surrounding supply remains a limit 247.
Mage Armor and Defensive Magic
An Kai layers defensive spells rather than relying on a single barrier 169 170.
- Freezing Spell: Expands from cooling and shaped ice into weapons, nets, frozen-space defenses, and a dark-mist domain 26 41 69 140.
- Elemental Ice Armor: Fuses Mage Armor, Freezing Spell, and Elemental Defense, preserving their defensive applications under one upgrade cost 160.
- Fire, Ice, Wind Armor: Automatically manifests a giant armored figure when he is attacked; A Ken cannot break it during testing 169.
- Ten-element Mage Armor: Weakens the Howling God’s strongest mental attack enough for An Kai to destroy it with a punch 323.
- Square Domain: A Lv200 Mage Armor enhancement used in his plan to isolate waiting divinities 375.
Summoning
Summoning supplies companions, scouts, combat support, and expendable sources of Magic Cores 41 53 75.
- Summons include Bloodthirsty Rats, Guardian Treants, Lesser Succubi, Burrowing Worms, and other creatures 53 69 82 86.
- Guardian Treants serve as mounts and ambush support, but An Kai also destroys and replaces them to harvest their cores 69 75.
- Summoning is unreliable for his immediate needs: some creatures are inedible, lack cores, or fail to provide the Elite core required for enhancement 41 86 91.
- Forced Summoning appears among his Lv200 enhancements 375.
- Later, the Summoning Gate reshapes a summoned true spirit’s memories, inserting An Kai as the central figure behind its past achievements 467.
Contracts and Beast Taming
An Kai uses magical binding to turn defeated enemies and ostensibly cooperative partners into loyal subordinates 274 275.
- Contract advantage: The system removes the contract binding from his own body when Wayne and Malken sign their agreements, leaving him secretly able to violate it 99.
- Loyalty management: His Contract spell gains a loyalty display and more slots as it levels 140.
- Covert control: Supposed Mutual Support Contracts become Slave Contracts in his hands, supplying agents inside hostile factions 275.
- Beast Taming: Initially manifests as a whip; Spell Ascension expands its targets to magical beasts and half-beastmen, including dragons 145 177.
- High-level targets: Subdues the Tier Nine Green Demon and permanently binds the Nirvana: Origin Tracing three-headed hound 237 274.
- Bound followers provide information, recruit further targets, and communicate through their connection to him 274.
Spell Fusion and Spell Imprinting
The Sea God’s Heart initially lets An Kai improve several compatible spells for the cost of one. His later research replaces dependence on the artifact with core-centered elemental absorption 160 321.
| Technique | Function | Limitation or distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Spell Fusion | Combines related spells into shared upgrade groups 160 170. | Some spells cannot join particular combinations; Haste and Beast Taming remain outside the documented fusion groups 170. |
| Spell Ascension | Converts spells into Heaven-and-Earth spells with major new effects 177. | Requires enormous expenditure of mid-grade magic stones 177. |
| Spell Imprinting | Strengthens an imprinted spell and gives it an advantage over unimprinted spells 270. | An Kai preserves unused opportunities until he obtains suitable spells 270. |
| Ten-element fusion | Strengthens a chosen core spell with metal, wood, water, fire, light, wind, lightning, ice, mind, and space 321. | His successful core-centered method proves more effective than relying on the Sea God’s Heart 321. |
Physical Cultivation
An Kai develops his physical body alongside his magic, overcoming the assumption that a mage is vulnerable in close combat 218 267 327.
- Iron Body: Greatly increases toughness 218.
- Subtle Control: Lets 70% of his strength accomplish what previously required full exertion 218.
- Regeneration: Later body talents regenerate limbs and internal organs; Spirit-Subduing Body further improves regeneration and toughness 267 327.
- Heart Technique: Multiplies applied force fortyfold and identifies bodily weaknesses 327.
- Heaven and Earth Manifestation: Enlarges him into a giant while preserving his abilities; its Lv2 form enlarges him through an all-around enhancement rather than simple swelling 398 461.
- Hearts in Harmony: Unilaterally attunes him to an opponent’s intentions. At Lv2, it predicts their actions one second ahead 398 461.
Divine Body and Godmaster
His evolving body talent and NPC identity provide suppression, protection, and influence beyond ordinary spellcasting 140 189 469.
- Suppression: Weakens lower-quality or lower-talent opponents; later talent pressure affects professionals up to two tiers above him 140 189.
- Consciousness Descent: At Godmaster Lv6, mentioning his name allows him to sense the speaker’s location and project his consciousness there. He uses it to kill insulting players, including those speaking privately 469.
- Fatal-hit protection: His 2,000-member Divine Attendant Guard Corps becomes doppelgangers, each able to absorb one fatal hit for him. He suspects the protection has limits 469.
Disguise, Intelligence, and Research Support
- Uses false identities to evade bounties, acquire supplies, misdirect enemies, and shift blame 29 53 68.
- Embeds contracted agents in hostile meetings and rival factions 275 347.
- Learns Forging and enhances equipment, although successful +6 enhancement requires an Elite magical-beast core 91.
- Relies on Wayne for spell analysis and research, and An Daun for detectors and blacksmithing 99 205 327 347.
- Recognizes a time spell element through his experiences in the Abyss and the Giant Vertical Eye’s true spirit. He considers time reversal possible but has not demonstrated mastery of it in the supplied material 398 420.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Meditation Staff — Left by Dong Lin; shortens early attribute-training intervals. Its special effect disappears after Meditation reaches Lv21. Later enhanced to +5 82 86 91.
- Storage Rings — Hold food, books, magic stones, and other supplies. One taken from the Evergreen Gang has a two-cubic-meter capacity 18 26.
- Disguise Mask / Disguiser — Supports his many assumed identities. An early mask reaches +5; a later Top-Grade version produces the Orc-like Gulair-Kai face 91 247.
- Brute Force Staff — Fine-quality staff used to intimidate Hanks. Its enhancement requires resources unavailable during an early tower seclusion 75 91.
- Sea God’s Heart — Binds itself to him without consent, initially confines him until Tier Seven, controls Divine Court restrictions, and grants Spell Fusion and Spell Ascension 160 177.
- An Kai’s Mage Tower — Created by fusing Lazell’s Mage Tower with the Sea God’s Heart. Advances from Lv22 to Lv51 and gains a barrier capable of covering Goodness Home and excluding living beings 205.
- Lord of Desire Token — Appears as each observer’s deepest desire. Fixating on An Kai for more than a second can trigger enthrallment and a passage to the Desire Abyss; An Kai sees a sword and shield 287.
- Ninety-nine Divine Court swords — House captured divinities before fusing into a Domain associated with “Teacher” 347.
- Attribute and divinity detectors — An Daun’s devices help compare An Kai’s attributes with opponents. Early divine measurements are unreliable, requiring eighty-one attempts to detect the Howling God’s Vitality 121 327 347.
- Mist Crystal — Condenses after Academy mist and seawater transform inside his Domain, offering a new prospect for spell advancement 420.
Relationships
- Hanks — Longtime accomplice, resource broker, translator, and emotional anchor. Their friendship mixes secrecy, bargaining, threats, and familiar insults; after Hanks dies, he remains within An Kai’s Domain 14 25 79 160 341 465.
- Wayne — His only disciple, chief researcher, and de facto steward. Initially spared for his scholarly value, Wayne becomes indispensable to Goodness Home and one of An Kai’s closest companions 99 304 381 432 465.
- Chris — Former enemy and coerced servant who becomes his lover and trusted companion. She sacrifices Lady Luck’s power to help him; An Kai eventually values her independently of the luck she once provided 121 375 398 430.
- Nurnexius — Pet, enforcer, and increasingly familial companion. An Kai mocks and confines him but regards him as half family and one of the most important beings in his life 101 303 347 465.
- Widow Wang — Hanks’s partner and an observer of An Kai’s transformation from vulnerable newcomer to ruthless ruler. He gives her Dong Lin’s Spirit Infusion Method 124 160.
- Malken — Wayne’s Tier Five Assassin guardian, later contracted as An Kai’s Guardian. Carries out deception, intelligence work, and administrative tasks under his direction 99 121 124 205.
- Dong Lin — Former mage teacher and major early pursuer. His bounty, undead expansion, and interference become lasting sources of An Kai’s hostility 22 29 85 106 158.
- “Teacher” — Enigmatic mentor connected to the Divine Court and the God of Magic. Provides major rewards and guidance, but later becomes An Kai’s opponent in a prolonged struggle inside the Ninth Layer; their identity and history remain contested 303 349 354 471 480 483.
- Will-Bukelin — Wanderer linked to An Kai through the Guide identity. An Kai repeatedly refuses his revenge requests, but later remembers him warmly and respects the exceptional spirit recorded in his Godkin entry 25 37 292 297.
- Sally Bukelin — Princess who first seeks to recruit him and later falls in love with him. He disguises himself as Hanks around her and largely ignores her feelings; she eventually reappears through the Summoning Gate 29 157 401.
- Gulair — The Orc Twenty-Eighth Prince, initially a dangerous target and later a subordinate. Impersonates Hanks-Kai and serves An Kai’s territorial administration 68 152 205 237.
- An Daun — Blacksmith Association president responsible for detectors and tower-related work. His inventions become important tools for assessing An Kai’s strength, although failures leave him fearful of losing favor 121 205 218 327 347.
- A Ken — Chaos City’s strongest fighter after An Kai during the Divine Court expansion. Tests An Kai’s defensive armor and helps spread the fearsome Hanks-Kai reputation 169.
- Allie — Contracted cultivation partner whose stored vitality increases An Kai’s attributes. Her disclosures give him information about the Elven Queen’s cultivation methods 189.
- Lord of Life — Intimate associate whom An Kai visits while maintaining his relationship with Chris 281 309.
- Li Dabao — Loyal player and outspoken admirer. Supplies useful development ideas and later becomes An Kai’s means of repeatedly extracting spell-upgrade rewards in the Ninth Layer 260 451 476.
- Giant Vertical Eye — Formerly threatening Abyss figure whose true spirit becomes frightened and submissive. Its time-element trace provides An Kai a valuable insight 413 416 420.
- God of Spring — Guards An Kai during his advancement, increasingly motivated by fear after witnessing the deaths of his former companions 469.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Main-Story Boss and Future Players
- The system designates An Kai as the first boss required for main-story progression, despite his belief that he should have been a player 18 19.
- Fear of endlessly returning players motivates his search for a faction and later his plan to control or sever Abyss passages 69 223.
