An Kai and Goudan.
They seemed like two witnesses.
Before them stood the [Divine Court] of three thousand years ago.
"A mage's vocation is to explore the origins of the world, the mysteries of life, and the arrangement of elements."
"If you become obsessed with the power of spells, you have already strayed onto an inferior path."
"So what if they are gods? So what if they are Gods of Magic?"
"To us mages, they are merely beings who have walked farther along the path!"
"How can you know that you won't become a god yourself someday?"
Dressed in blue, Teacher Goudan stood on a lectern carved from crystal Energy Stones, features obscured.
Though An Kai could not make out those features, he could clearly feel Teacher Goudan looking at him...
An Kai glanced around. A group of mages listened attentively beside him...
They sat in orderly rows, forming three circles around Teacher Goudan.
Beyond those circles, An Kai could just make out a large black-and-white hound lying on the ground, snoring under the blazing sun.
"Teacher, are there really Gods of Magic in this world?"
"Do they live outside this round planet of ours? Or inside it?"
"Teacher, how does your strength compare to a god's?"
"Teacher, is the origin of the world the planet's will?"
"Teacher..."
Question after question reached An Kai's ears.
As those vivid voices rang out, An Kai felt as though his thoughts had been drawn back into that distant age!
He seemed to have become a member of the Divine Court three thousand years ago, sitting in a classroom and listening to Teacher Goudan's lecture.
"Boy, do you have any questions?"
A rich voice sounded beside An Kai's ear, startling him...
