Though his voice was extremely deep, making him sound like an old man, Meruem knew exactly who he was: Obito Uchiha, Kakashi's best friend and future rival.
He was the same age as Kakashi, only around twenty.
At this point, Obito's mask was not yet the yellow spiral mask he would wear in the future. It was white, covered in strange spiral patterns resembling flames.
"I should be asking you that. What brings you here?" Meruem lifted a Root ninja with the strength of a Special Jonin by the throat. The Taotie behind him swallowed the man in a single bite, and before Obito's eyes, the ninja turned into white dust that scattered in the wind.
Only those who cultivated Nen could see a special Nen Beast like Taotie. It seemed that no one in the Naruto World cultivated Nen, and even the Sharingan could not see Taotie's form. At most, it could sense a strange mass of energy behind Meruem. Perhaps a Hyuga Clan member with the Byakugan activated could vaguely see it. But there were no Hyuga Clan members here.
Obito could only assume that Meruem had used some strange ninjutsu, one that his Mangekyo Sharingan could not copy.
