The traps Wei'a set were nowhere near as intricate as Chen Mu's. He casually split apart a chair made of dark pomelo wood.
Beside him, Lu Xiaoru's heart bled. That chair sold for fifty thousand Odi.
Wei'a naturally had no idea what it was worth, but even if he had known, it would not have changed his actions. He nailed a sharpened short stick to the end of the longest strip of dark pomelo wood. Then he bent the strip and secured it with a rope, attaching the other end of the rope to a movable trigger. He placed the trap behind a window, with its trigger beneath the sill. Anyone climbing through the window would step on the trigger, instantly releasing the strip of dark pomelo wood and making it snap straight. That sudden burst of force could kill even some of the powerful beasts in the Jungle.

If it struck a person, the sharpened stick would pierce the intruder's chest in an instant and pin them to the window frame.
One look at this crude, simple, yet brutally violent trap was enough to inspire fear. By comparison, Chen Mu's traps looked far more civilized.
In a very short time, the room became unrecognizable, with danger lurking everywhere. Having witnessed its transformation firsthand, Lu Xiaoru dared not utter a word of complaint. Her calves trembled. If she had harbored the slightest doubt about the two men's identities before, she was now utterly certain they were Assassin Card Adepts.
Who else would do such things, apart from those fellows who liked conducting their business in the shadows?
