Background / History
First Warrior of the Mohadi Domain
Wei'a was the Mohadi Domain's strongest fighter for ten years. He held the title First Warrior, and his tribe occupied three exceptionally rich, fertile mountains 576 620.
According to Ban Ze, the mountains attracted widespread envy, including that of the King. Wei'a's refusal to submit made him a target, while his enemies expected to divide the land after eliminating him. His entire clan was exterminated, and Wei'a himself was hunted. He later told Ban Ze that the ruler responsible was not the real King 576 620.
Rescue and life with the Wanqi Clan
Several years before Chen Mu's arrival, the Wanqi Clan Leader found Wei'a unconscious in the Jungle and saved him. Wei'a awoke unable to remember his identity. The Clan Leader named him and became the only person whose orders he followed 161.
Despite his unmatched fighting ability, Wei'a remained an outsider. Competitive villagers resented him, and many adults feared him more than they respected him. He lived in a nearly empty house, cooking over an open fire despite the village's sophisticated card machinery 155 161 171.
His interest in Chen Mu began with the younger man's physique and Body-Strengthening Exercise. Wei'a repeatedly offered to teach him, even after numerous refusals. During the clan's flight through the Jungle, he began instructing the children and helped uphold Chen Mu's leadership over the survivors 161 171 172 173.
Leaving the Jungle
Wei'a accompanied Chen Mu out of the Jungle. When asked why, he said the Clan Leader was dead and that he was free, although Chen Mu still considered the old man's survival possible. Wei'a then disclosed his personal objective: recovering his memories 181.
After their aircraft crashed, his navigation and vigilance helped them reach civilization. The pair rescued Cleo Raven and accepted an escort commission, bringing them into contact with the Raven Family and Skywing 181 182.
Recovering his past
Familiar experiences gradually prompted fragments of recollection. Underwater training reminded him of childhood exercises, while a brown creature seen on a Viewing Illusion Card led him to travel to Amedal City and take it from its cage 199 234.
By the time he took Bu Mo as a disciple, Wei'a believed he needed to bring the boy “home.” His memories eventually returned fully, and he asked Chen Mu to develop his command abilities rather than merely his personal combat strength: the enemy he wanted to confront was too numerous and powerful for him to defeat alone 399 409 512.
Appearance
Wei'a is a massive, imposing man whom Chen Mu compares to an iron tower. His physique conveys explosive strength rather than exaggerated muscular bulk 155 199.
- Face: Stern, sharply defined features described as though carved from stone 155.
- Expression: Usually cold, unsmiling, and nearly motionless 155 161.
- Musculature: Clearly defined muscles with tremendous power, though he is not the village's most heavily built man 199.
- Presence: Oppressive and dangerous; Chen Mu likens him to a Jungle beast or a lifeless killing machine 155.
Personality
Wei'a is taciturn, direct, and extraordinarily persistent. He commonly answers in only a few words, but his repeated attempts to recruit Chen Mu as a student show that his apparent indifference does not mean a lack of interest. When teaching, he can explain difficult mechanics in precise detail 161 401.
His loyalty is usually expressed through action. He protects Chen Mu, offers practical guidance, and accepts the burden of training him without ceremony. Their bond becomes closer than that of most blood brothers, while Wei'a's rare praise has a powerful effect on Chen Mu 193 399 409 512.
Outside combat, his ignorance of ordinary society can be dangerous. He does not understand train tickets or the practical use of a Money Card, takes food without paying, and recounts killing six pursuers with complete calm. He also shows little aptitude for quantifying the number of troops he needs 234 512.
Chen Mu distinguishes Wei'a's ruthlessness from indiscriminate killing: he shows no mercy to enemies, but does not normally kill without cause. Encounters with the fighters connected to his tribe's destruction expose grief and anger beneath his expressionless exterior 570 576 620.
Abilities & Skills
Uncard Flow and physical combat
Wei'a fights without card implements, relying on strength, speed, and refined bodily control. The narration ultimately identifies him as the world's strongest Uncard Flow practitioner 155 619.
- Explosive movement: His running speed can match Chen Mu's full-speed flight, and Chen Mu considers his short-distance acceleration superior to that of every expert he has encountered 203 456.
- Striking power: His bare-handed attacks shatter Energy Shields and leave opponents' bodies severely deformed 348 542.
- Stamina and climbing: Carries a captive up twenty-two floors without tools or visible strain 206.
- Rapid incapacitation: Defeats Xiao Bo in one lightning-fast attack and immobilizes Ban Ze by striking several points on his body 317 576.
- Limits: He cannot fly, has no Perception, and has no Energy Shield. The Bronze Mask Man's Flower Realm can trap and wound him 203 457.
Air Techniques
Wei'a creates damaging airflow through extreme speed and exact muscular control rather than card-generated energy 401.
- Air Slash / Airflow Wave Blade: A rapid hand strike forms a cutting airflow blade capable of breaking a target several meters away 401.
- Air Bullets: Rapid punches and kicks launch a barrage powerful enough to force the Bronze Mask Man onto the defensive 457.
- Simultaneous release: Can generate Air Techniques with his hands and legs at the same time 464.
- Three-stage compression: Uses a final three-stage compressed air technique during the Bronze Mask Man duel, astonishing Chen Mu 464.
- Detection advantage: Air Slash produces no energy fluctuations, making it difficult for conventional Card Adept senses to detect 457.
- Limits: Small execution errors can prevent a blade from forming or sharply reduce its power. Flower Realm disperses his initial Air Slash 401 457.
Concealment and combat instincts
Wei'a detects threats without Perception and uses terrain and weather to compensate for the lack of card-based abilities 203 542.
- Senses danger more effectively than Chen Mu despite having no Perception 203.
- Secretly follows fleeing attackers to identify Faya as their employer 454.
- Uses darkness, rain, and cold to conceal repeated strikes against the Azure River Army 542.
- Withdraws when Lighting Cards expose the battlefield, rather than remaining after his concealment advantage is lost 542.
Wilderness survival
Wei'a's Jungle experience makes him both a guide and a hunter 181.
- Navigates more accurately than the aircraft's instruments during his journey with Chen Mu 181.
- Identifies ingredients in the sachet that attracts and enrages the Sisnia Wolves 181.
- Hunts dangerous beasts for food and captures formidable animals alive 423 527.
- Splits thick firewood into fine fibers by twisting it with his hands, then expertly roasts meat over an open fire 155.
Physical training and instruction
Wei'a designs demanding conditioning exercises and teaches both technique and practical combat judgment 193 199.
- Weighted water training: Has Chen Mu walk against a controllable current in a fifteen-meter tank; resistance increases through current speed and added weights 193.
- Underwater force control: Uses rapid, precise bodily movements to move effortlessly against the tank's maximum current 199.
- Combat analysis: Helps Chen Mu organize his scattered skills around survival and select techniques suited to particular situations 199.
- Student development: Trains the Wanqi children, Bu Mo, and members of Chen Mu's guard. His conditioning exercises later become widely practiced throughout the Wanqi Clan 171 409 576 617.
Relationships
- Chen Mu — Closest companion, student, and combat partner. Wei'a repeatedly protects him; Chen Mu promises to help him confront the enemies from his past 399 409 512 576.
- Wanqi Clan Leader — Rescuer and the person who named him. Wei'a initially obeys only him 161.
- Liduhong — One of the few villagers around whom Wei'a's expression softens. Liduhong regards him as his dearest family and continues following his training plan 171 572 576.
- Bu Mo — Formal disciple. Wei'a recognizes his physical potential, trains him personally, and instructs him to obey Chen Mu 399 409.
- Fat Dog — Brown, plump, dog-like companion taken from Amedal City because it looked familiar. Wei'a plays with it, seeks treatment when it appears ill, and later brings it on excursions 234 266 608.
- Lu Xiaoru and One-Brow — Members of Chen Mu's guard who trained under him. Both recognize the gulf between his abilities and those of other Uncard Flow fighters 617.
- Bronze Mask Man — A worthy opponent whose Flower Realm forces Wei'a to reveal stronger Air Techniques. Their duel ends in a draw 457 460.
- Ban Ze — Enemy connected to the destruction of Wei'a's tribe. Wei'a captures and questions him about the attack 576.
- Mohadi King — Ruler responsible for exterminating Wei'a's clan and pursuing him. Wei'a denies that he is the legitimate King and eventually confronts him 576 620.
