Background / History
Revenge Mission
After Mittel Tengshan confined Lei Meng to prevent him from retaliating against Ya Fei, Lei Meng secretly recruited his younger cousin, Lei Jie, to avenge Lei Le. Ya Fei’s informants identified Lei Jie in Black Cloud City, the transit point for travelers heading from the Imperial Capital to Wutan City. Despite the covert nature of Lei Meng’s scheme, Lei Jie traveled openly without concealing his identity 51 57.
Duel with Xia Kong
Xia Kong intercepted Lei Jie on the mountain road between Black Cloud City and Wutan City. Dismissing him as an inexperienced boy, Lei Jie charged on horseback and lashed at his face. Xia Kong shredded the whip and nearly pierced his throat, forcing Lei Jie to tumble from his horse. Bloodied and shaken, he retrieved his spear and formed lightning-wreathed Dou Qi Armor 58.
Lei Jie’s armor initially withstood Scorching Wood Palm with only a faint scorch mark. During the next exchange, he used a wound to his back as bait, trapping Xia Kong with Thunder Vines before thrusting at his heart. The intended paralysis failed to stop Xia Kong’s Dou Qi circulation; Wood Hardening reduced the thrust to a superficial scratch, and an eruption of fiery Dou Qi broke the restraints 58 59.
After witnessing Xia Kong replenish his energy and heal with spiritual produce, Lei Jie recognized him as Ya Fei’s lover and the source of her extraordinary spirit fruits. His objective shifted toward killing Xia Kong and claiming those medicines. However, Xia Kong adapted to his attacks, damaged his armor, and reached Great Completion in Blossom Sword Cluster while breaking through to Da Dou Shi 59 60.
Terrified by Xia Kong’s breakthrough and flying technique, Lei Jie was stunned by Mad Lion’s Roar and surrounded by sword-energy lotuses. He attempted to carve an escape route with his spear, but the successive explosions shattered his armor and reduced his body to powder 60.
Appearance
- Build and age: Burly, middle-aged man 58.
- Face: Rugged features 58.
- Dou Qi Armor: Covered in crackling blue lightning arcs; its patterned surface can transform into Thunder Vines 58 59.
Personality
Lei Jie is arrogant and quick to anger. He openly traveled on his revenge mission and initially treated Xia Kong with contempt because of his youth. Jealousy of Xia Kong’s handsome appearance prompted him to aim his whip at the boy’s face 57 58.
His arrogance does not exclude tactical cunning: he exploited an apparent opening to lure Xia Kong into a binding technique. Nevertheless, greed intensified his killing intent once he discovered the spiritual medicines’ source, and envy overtook him when Xia Kong gained insight during their fight. His confidence ultimately gave way to terror and bitter resignation 59 60.
