"Then I'll set one up according to this book!" Zhang Facai said. He took one of the formation flags and planted it in the ground, then planted the others in four more spots in turn. Next, he pulled a small white flag from inside his robe, chanted solemnly, and formed several hand seals. A streak of azure light shot from the little flag toward one of the formation flags. The five flags planted in the ground suddenly flashed, then vanished before Li Xiaoya's astonished eyes. Yet nothing else happened in front of him.
"Huh? There's nothing there!" Li Xiaoya said, looking at Zhang Facai in confusion.
"Go over and take a look, junior brother, and you'll see!" Zhang Facai said with a smile, pointing toward where the Magic Formation was.
"Uh! All right!" Li Xiaoya paused, then answered hesitantly. He had barely taken two steps before backing away again, his face sour. "I'm not going! Haven't you put me through enough already?"
"Heh, hehe!" Zhang Facai gave an awkward laugh. "Fine, you don't have to go over. Try probing the area ahead with your divine sense instead!"
"Huh?!" At his words, Li Xiaoya sent his divine sense toward the Magic Formation, only to discover that the five-element spiritual qi there was somewhat chaotic. He even sensed a faint hint of danger. "So this is a Magic Formation?" he asked in astonishment.
"Yes! Watch again, junior brother!" Zhang Facai formed several hand seals and pointed the flag in his hand toward the ground. The five flags reappeared. He walked over, shifted one slightly, turned another all the way around, and swapped several of their positions. Then he cast the spell again, making the formation flags disappear. "Try probing it with your divine sense again, junior brother!" he said calmly.
