Background / History
Treasure Immortal Town
Li Xiaoya grew up on the Great Illusion Continent despite originating from the Origin Continent. As a ten-year-old in Treasure Immortal Town, he looked penniless but could bargain, provoke adults, and exploit concerns over reputation. At Zhang Dafu’s restaurant, he produced a genuine five-tael silver ingot to secure a meal, then challenged the owner over a cockroach on his plate. An elderly cultivator noticed his immortal root but judged its mixed aptitude poor 17 694.
Years later, he returned without seeking revenge against Zhang Dafu or Xu Er. The two men had arranged for Xu Dagang to beat him and feared his reaction, but Xiaoya warmly reconciled with them. He concealed his cultivation history behind a story about a martial arts master and thanked Zhang for the care he had received as a child 247.
Training at Heavenly Capital Peak
At the Heavenly Dao Sect, Liu Hang supervised Xiaoya on behalf of Heavenly Venerable Daoling. Xiaoya learned literacy, meridians, sect rules, and cultivation theory readily, but found meditation tedious and repeatedly fell asleep. After discovering his five-element roots, Liu Hang consulted Daoling and allowed him to choose an elemental art; Xiaoya selected fire because it offered a route into alchemy 56 57.
His early aim was practical: earn spirit stones, buy a flying artifact, and return to Treasure Immortal Town. That ambition encouraged him to study alchemy and talisman refinement, and gradually made him take cultivation more seriously. Liu Hang nevertheless punished his unauthorized Demon Beast Valley excursion with a month of supervised reflection and training 66 71 117.
Zhang Facai later subjected him to demanding combat instruction, purified his magic power, and strengthened his meridians. By the end, his meridians rivaled those of a Core Condensation cultivator, while his mental resilience and combat experience exceeded his actual realm 168 171 172.
Spiritlight Lake and Feng Chenzi
Xiaoya reached True Cultivation Great Perfection immediately before Spiritlight Lake opened, then disappeared during the gathering. Daoling monitored his strengthening Lifebound Primordial Spirit Lamp and dispatched Liu Yulan to find him 208 230.
Trapped in a sealed white space, Xiaoya relied on Feng Chenzi for instruction and a possible escape. Feng taught him the Overlord Art while secretly intending it as a trap. Xiaoya continued practicing even after learning its Devil Race origin because he believed greater physical strength would help him escape 230 231.
Family Reunion on the Origin Continent
After fighting the Devastation Devil Lord and becoming stranded on the Origin Continent, Xiaoya discovered his parents’ circumstances. Li San guided him through a hidden formation in the Mistshadow Sea to a peach-blossom-covered island, where he met his mother 620 705.
His father remained imprisoned, and Xiaoya promised to rescue him once he was strong enough. He later received intelligence identifying his father’s place of captivity; subsequent chapters show both parents free and advancing in cultivation 701 925 980 1217.
Return to the Sect and Public Responsibility
The Heavenly Dao Sect increasingly treated Xiaoya as a potential future savior. He received privileged cultivation opportunities, developed into a military leader, and learned that the sect contained factional disputes as well as the supportive community he cherished. His relationships with Zhang Hong and Liu Xian’er were eventually publicly recognized, with Daoling and Qingxia attending their partnership gathering 701 845 849 896 1021.
As the demonic threat widened, he reported Elder Ma’s teaching of demonic methods and information about the Heaven-Shaking Great Emperor to Qianshan. After reaching Great Void, he returned to a homeland facing demonic tribulation and took a leading role among its senior cultivators 1064 1217 1220.
Ascension and the Search for Zhang Hong’s Cure
Xiaoya brought the incapacitated Zhang Hong toward the Upper Realm. A secret art from the Five-Element Rainbow Ganoderma let him control her body and temporarily raise her power enough to trigger her own Ascension Tribulation. The procedure consumed a third of his magic power and divine sense before he faced his own tribulation 1303.
In the Thirty-Three Star Realm, his need to save Zhang Hong drove him to pursue stronger body cultivation and, eventually, the twin-pole netherflower in the Hell Tower. He accepted temporary legacy-disciple privileges within the Heavenly Demon Race, while remaining wary of the obligations attached to its patronage 1331 1354 1355 1552.
After Zhang Hong recovered from severe soul injuries, Xiaoya patiently reconstructed more than a thousand years of their history for her. Her missing memories revived earlier jealousy, but his explanations helped her reconnect with both him and Liu Xian’er 1729 1730 1732.
Fallen Immortal Grounds
Severely injured and unable to use his normal powers fully, Xiaoya studied local blood-circulation methods to restore his mobility. He improved the arts of Young Master Yang and Young Master Tianshang, then combined their principles to produce hot and cold energies that aided his recovery 1817 1820 1821.
Tianyuan became his swordsmanship mentor. Although Xiaoya’s skill increased rapidly, the Sea Cow Emperor nearly killed him, and Tianyuan had to intervene. The encounter exposed his overconfidence and inability to sustain the advanced Fire Dragon Sword, prompting renewed secluded cultivation on Illusory Spirit Island 1854 1894.
Immortal Court and Later Attainment
In the Immortal Court, Xiaoya reunited with Liu Xian’er and learned that the Immortal Sovereign had accepted her as a Formation Dao disciple. Her decision to remain there disrupted his hoped-for return to the Thirty-Three Star Realm 2327.
He subsequently completed a thousand-year training period that raised his main body to the ninth-layer peak of late Immortal Tribulation and reunited all five of his elemental clones. His later documented appearance identifies him as the Immortal Ancestor and Lord of the Immortal Spirit Realm, still together with Zhang Hong and Liu Xian’er 2339 2426.
Appearance
- Adult build: Tall and strongly built, with sword-like brows, star-bright eyes, a prominent nose bridge, broad back, and sturdy waist. Zhang Hong also notices a scholarly refinement in his bearing 388 638.
- Recognizable expression: His mischievous eyes help an old acquaintance identify him despite his transformed appearance 272.
- Clothing: Wears white robes after concealing the visible effects of his body-tempering cultivation 1611.
- Body-tempering markings: Golden threadlike lines form demon-beast images across his skin, including an Earth Demon Dragon on his back. He can withdraw these markings beneath the skin 1611.
- Defensive transformation: Dense, rice-grain-sized golden dragon scales can appear across his arm 1768.
- Blood: Turns golden-red after prolonged refinement of demon-beast essence blood 1610.
Personality
Xiaoya is clever, irreverent, and fond of teasing. As a child, he used bargaining, calculated generosity, and public embarrassment to control encounters with adults. That mischievous streak persists even after he becomes a respected senior cultivator, although he grows more composed when handling challenges to his identity or status 17 461 1731.
His attitude toward cultivation changes sharply. Initially, he values freedom and an enjoyable life more than longevity, distrusts unusually generous treatment, and struggles with repetitive meditation. Later, painful training and danger teach him patience, self-reliance, and the importance of facing responsibilities rather than escaping them 57 231 1610 1732.
He is generous toward vulnerable people, but often disguises compassion with rough humor. He helps Lingyu despite suspecting deception, distinguishes Zhao Xiaoqing’s coerced misconduct from deliberate malice, and resolves Ling Yuyu’s constitutional problem without accepting him as a disciple 630 803.
His romantic conduct is less careful than his cultivation planning. He sincerely loves both Zhang Hong and Liu Xian’er, yet evasive explanations and exaggerated flattery repeatedly hurt them. Later, he becomes more candid and patient, particularly while helping Zhang Hong cope with memory loss 708 768 1729 1732.
Growing power occasionally makes him complacent. Daoling worries about his arrogance, and his near-death encounter with the Sea Cow Emperor forces him to reassess the gap between exceptional techniques and sufficient cultivation 784 1894.
Abilities & Skills
Five-Element Cultivation
- Possesses roots for fire, water, wood, metal, and earth, allowing him to practice arts of every element 56.
- Initially uses the fire-based True Yang Art, with the True Sun Formula forming part of his early training 56 57.
- Liu Hang’s Five Elements Method converts his specialized magic power into other elements, but loses considerable power during conversion 130.
- Later develops comparatively balanced elemental methods; by late Nascent Soul, his magic power is twice that of an ordinary cultivator of that stage 1003.
- Refines earth origin power, enabling silent Earth Escape and complete merging with the earth 1526.
- Perfect five-element balance strengthens elemental spells by more than thirty percent. He estimates that it may increase cultivation and pill-refining speed by nearly half 2097.
Fire Techniques
- Lesser Fireball Art / Fireball Technique: An early offensive spell; by fifth-level peak, his fireballs are human-head-sized and several times stronger than before 71 117.
- Cross Flame Blade: Zhang Facai improves its speed and power and teaches it to split or merge for attacks from multiple angles. Producing myriad blades requires at least peak Golden Core cultivation 168.
- God-Devouring Fire Dragon Wave: Develops dual- and triple-attribute versions before completing the five-element version he originally envisioned. Their destructive power comes with staggering magic-power consumption 1003.
Body Tempering and Beast Transformations
- Overlord Art: A nine-level Devil Race method taught by Feng Chenzi. Early training is agonizing; using a qi-absorbing stone stele reduces pain but slows progress 230 231.
- Dragon-Devouring God-Reversal Art: A major combat trump card that strengthens his body, defenses, and speed 541 795.
- Myriad Beasts Body Tempering Diagram: Refines demon-beast essence blood to enhance his body and produce beast-pattern markings 1336 1610 1611.
- Combines the two latter methods into a gigantification ability; before reaching Mighty One, his physical strength already rivals cultivators of that realm 1654.
- Refinement of the twin-pole netherflower improves individual bodily attributes by roughly fifty percent, multiplying his practical combat strength severalfold 1756.
- Later refines the Twelve Demon Kings’ and Light Divine Beast’s essence blood, allowing transformation into their forms and use of their abilities 2339.
Sword Dao
- Practices the Fire Dragon Sword’s techniques, although he repeatedly struggles with its second move during his early confinement 230.
- Tianyuan Sword Formula: Combines Sword Dao with Heavenly Dao laws. Each level from the fourth onward sharply amplifies its power 1854.
- Uses Dragon-Horned Bone Dragon Slash when Tianyuan tests his swordsmanship 1854.
- Masters the formula’s seventh layer, but regards Tianyuan as a possible practitioner of its theoretical eighth layer 1902.
- Even at Mighty One, the evolved Fire Dragon Sword permits only two uses of its Dragon Sword Art or a brief period of sustained sword techniques 1902.
Divine Sense and Soul Defense
- Has unusually powerful divine sense from birth, giving him an advantage even over companions with better spiritual-root aptitude 413.
- Learns and teaches the Sleep God Art to Zhang Hong 413.
- Can eventually cast some low-level spells mentally, without gestures or spoken incantations 230.
- Demon-Suppressing Divine Art: Strengthens divine sense, protects against soul attacks, and weakens Heavenly Demon opponents 1610 1678.
- Uses direct mental transmission to teach revised cultivation methods 1820.
Movement and Concealment
- Immortal Flash Carefree Journey: A difficult movement and combat ability suited to pressuring long-range specialists at close quarters. Even after extensive training, he has not matched Black Old Devil’s former mastery 1003.
- Qi-Concealment Art: Learned during early True Cultivation 71.
- Beast Qi-Concealment Art: Improves control over refined beast essence blood; the first level he receives is only part of a four-level method 1354.
- Detects hidden threats through practical clues as well as spiritual perception, identifying Zhou Xiaoya’s distinctive scent despite her invisibility 196.
Alchemy and Talisman Refinement
- Begins with medicinal-ingredient memorization and simple pills under Liu Hang 71.
- Achieves a thirty-to-forty-percent success rate with Second-Rank True Cultivation Pills—exceptional by ordinary standards, though disappointing to him 130.
- Reaches second-tier talisman refinement and learns Lightning Talisman activation from Liu Qingshan 71 130.
- Successfully refines seven Nine-Turn Spirit Communion Pills, but delays their use until adequate preparation and cultivation make them safer 1063.
- Becomes a master alchemist through accumulated resources, experience, and inherited talent 1610.
Artifact Refinement and Technique Development
- Refines an exceptional-grade magic treasure and understands ancient runes, while concealing Second Better’s assistance 600.
- Improves Cold Blood Spirit Art from upper-tier profound grade to middle-tier earth grade, raising its potential from sixth-rank to eighth-rank cultivation 1820.
- Adapts blood flow, muscle coordination, and meridian-opening principles rather than abandoning his existing cultivation for Tianyuan’s blood method 1820 1854.
- Practices Heaven-and-Earth Attunement to prepare for refining the Human Realm Lesser Star Realm; meeting the realm requirement alone does not make secret-realm creation easy 1771.
Elemental Clones and Laws
- Uses a water-element clone carrying his consciousness for reconnaissance when multiple Immortal Tribulation cultivators threaten his main body 2097.
- Eventually possesses five Immortal Tribulation elemental clones. His earth clone develops independent awareness before being captured, returned, and brought back under his control 2339.
- Life-law power can devastate vegetation and restore it to stronger growth, but cannot yet create living creatures 2339.
- Continues studying the One-Origin Nascent Soul Transformation Art, but fails for more than two hundred years to transform his five-element golden cores into Nascent Souls 1902.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
