Background / History

Family and Human Transformation

Xiao Wu’s father disappeared before she developed intelligence. When she asks Xiong Jun about him, he says that her father died after trespassing into forbidden territory and speaking insolently to their sovereign. Xiao Wu suspects that the ferocious beasts ate him, but this is not confirmed 6.

Her mother was killed by humans, leaving Xiao Wu with vivid memories of her death and a desire for revenge. Xiao Wu chose human transformation to infiltrate the human world rather than abandon her soul-beast identity. She also recalls nearly dying during a lightning tribulation 6 12.

Encounter with Xiong Jun

Lost and seeking a nearby town, Xiao Wu follows Lou Xu’s group through the Star Dou Great Forest. Xiong Jun detects her hiding nearby and forces her to reveal herself 5 6.

After identifying her true species, Xiong Jun threatens to eat her and offers her to Lou Xu as a future hundred-thousand-year soul ring. Lou Xu rejects the ring because her attributes do not suit his martial soul. Xiong Jun then brings his claws to her neck, drawing blood before Lou Xu intervenes 6 7.

Lou Xu persuades Xiong Jun that she could be useful as a helper. He promises to keep Xiao Wu alive if she stays with him and obeys him; Xiong Jun separately threatens to kill her if she proves disloyal. With no safer option, she accepts Lou Xu’s hand and accompanies the group to Gengxin City 7.

Life at the Blacksmith Association

Xiao Wu initially remains terrified of Xiong Jun. After sensing his overwhelming aura during the confrontation with Star Luo’s retainers, she waits outside Lou Xu’s room and begs to stay with him. He places a separate bed beside his own and gives her Legends of the Continent, which unexpectedly absorbs her attention 9.

As she settles into this life, her human transformation becomes more complete and her lively temperament returns. After reaching level 12, she challenges Lou Xu to a spar, wagering that the loser must obey the winner. He defeats her despite suppressing his soul power, then painfully pulls her ears until she yields and calls him “Master.” He subsequently introduces her to Siyu as his maid 11.

Although hurt by that designation, she continues helping Lou Xu, watching his forging, and pursuing cultivation. He promises to forge her a divine artifact once she becomes a Soul Elder; that milestone is not reached in the documented chapters 12.

During Tang Hao’s nighttime raid, Xiao Wu first hides on Lou Xu’s instructions, then looks after Lou Gao and his four injured disciples. Later, she silently holds Lou Xu’s hand when she sees the strain of his family’s injuries and his new responsibilities 17 19.

Travel and the Blue Silver Emperor

Xiao Wu accompanies Lou Xu to the Star Luo palace, where Xiong Jun conceals her soul-beast aura. She later leaves Gengxin City with them on their journey north, studying a beginner’s rune manual in the carriage 15 22.

In the cave behind a waterfall near Holy Soul Village, she expresses sympathy for the weakened Blue Silver Emperor, Ah Yin. Lou Xu reacts angrily to her request that he not hurt the plant and threatens to send Xiao Wu back to the forest. Afraid of losing her life with him, she apologizes and uproots Ah Yin, accidentally damaging her roots while working 23.

Afterward, Lou Xu gives Xiao Wu a handkerchief, which she takes as forgiveness. She carries the potted Ah Yin and prevents Tang San from touching her during their roadside encounter. By the time they reach their later lodging, Xiao Wu’s careful tending has helped Ah Yin’s leaves unfurl 24 26.

Appearance

  • Hair: Long hair tied into a ponytail reaching her waist; her initial braid is clumsy and messy 5.
  • Eyes: Round, red eyes 14.
  • Rabbit features: Ears and a tail associated with her transformation. By level 12, these no longer ordinarily appear unless she releases her Martial Soul 11.
  • Initial clothing: A white, knee-length robe; she first appears barefoot 5.
  • Later clothing: Wears a pink dress during the journey to Ah Yin’s cave 23.

Personality

Xiao Wu is curious, lively, proud, and easily drawn into playful challenges. Once she feels safer with Lou Xu, she resumes teasing him and tries to make him acknowledge her as “Sister Xiao Wu.” Reading appears to moderate some of her earlier headstrong behavior, though it also gives her new questions and sayings to repeat 11 26.

Her fear is rooted in genuine danger. Xiong Jun’s threats leave her trembling, and she initially treats Lou Xu as her only source of safety. Her growing affection does not remove that dependence: when he threatens to send her away, she abandons her protest over Ah Yin and hurriedly obeys him 7 9 23.

She is compassionate and attentive to others. She comforts Lou Xu without interrupting him, keeps his room increasingly close to his preferred arrangement, and carefully tends Ah Yin after uprooting her. Lou Xu explicitly describes her as observant and kindhearted 19 24 26.

Abilities & Skills

Human Transformation

Xiao Wu chose the human-transformation path available to hundred-thousand-year soul beasts 6.

  • This path relinquishes the soul-beast body and dissipates much of its source essence 6.
  • Regular exposure to human auras is necessary for advancement toward level 70; Xiao Wu cites this need when asking to remain in Lou Xu’s room 6 9.
  • Powerful Soul Masters remain a danger to her concealed identity. Xiong Jun masks her aura during the palace visit, while Lou Xu keeps her hidden when a Titled Douluo visits 15 20.

Waist Bow

Her first Soul Skill uses acrobatic movement and close-range leg attacks 11.

  • During her spar with Lou Xu, she plants her hands on the ground, vaults upward, and aims her feet at his neck 11.
  • She can twist her waist in midair to evade an attack and follow with a sweeping kick 11.
  • The skill does not overcome Lou Xu’s greater physical strength, speed, defense, and combat experience 11.

Origin Power

Condensing her first Soul Ring unlocks part of Xiao Wu’s retained origin power 11.

  • Greatly improves her spiritual power and physical strength 11.
  • Gives her confidence that she can contend with a Battle Soul Master of the same level, though her documented spar ends in defeat 11.

Runic Forging Studies

Xiao Wu develops an interest in Runic Forging through reading Lou Xu’s manual and observing his work 21 22 26.

  • Independently asks what would happen if one attribute rune were forcibly connected to several world-system runes and the circuit short-circuited 26.
  • Learns that rune circuits form complete soul-power circulation systems, and that overloading them can cause crippling backlash 26.
  • Remains a beginner: no completed runic item is documented, and heavy hammers and dirty ores discourage her from practical experimentation 26.

Equipment / Items

  • Legends of the Continent — Myth-like collection given to her by Lou Xu; establishes her enthusiasm for reading 9.
  • Beginner Rune Manual — Requested from Lou Xu and studied during their northern journey 21 22 26.
  • Carrot cushion — Gift from Lou Xu, used both to vent her frustration and to throw at him during an argument 12.
  • Potted Ah Yin — Entrusted to her after the waterfall-cave visit; she carries and tends the plant 23 24 26.
  • Promised divine artifact — Lou Xu offers to forge one when she becomes a Soul Elder; no specific artifact is delivered in the supplied passages 12.

Relationships

  • Lou Xu — Protector, employer, companion, and rune instructor. Their increasing closeness includes teasing and quiet care, but remains unequal: her protection is conditional on obedience, and he uses physical punishment and threats to enforce it 7 11 19 23 26.
  • Xiong Jun — Initially threatens to eat her and continues intimidating her after she is spared. Later conceals her aura during the palace visit and warns her about exposure to powerful Soul Masters 6 7 15 17.
  • Mother — Her death at human hands motivates Xiao Wu’s decision to enter human society and seek revenge 6.
  • Father — Disappeared before Xiao Wu developed intelligence; Xiong Jun reports that he died after violating forbidden territory 6.
  • Da Ming and Er Ming — Friends she fears she will never see again when facing death at Xiong Jun’s hands 6.
  • Siyu — Welcomes her warmly and gives her malt candy when Lou Xu introduces her as his maid 11 12.
  • Ah Yin — Fellow transformed soul beast whom Xiao Wu initially pities. Despite uprooting her under pressure, Xiao Wu subsequently cares for her plant form 23 26.
  • Tang San — Meets him near Holy Soul Village and pulls Ah Yin’s pot away before he can touch its leaves. Later remembers him after Xiong Jun warns that he was examining Lou Xu’s vulnerable points 24.

Trivia

  • Prefers red-core carrots 7.
  • Reheats Lou Xu’s ginseng porridge twice at the forge while waiting for him to wake, nearly burning her hand 14.
  • Enjoys the books in Lou Xu’s room enough to remark that having them earlier would have made her forest life less boring 26.
