After finishing, he checked it once more. Only after deciding the wording was reasonably appropriate did he fold the letter with satisfaction and slip it into an envelope. Of course, he knew that as the young master of the Clear Sky Sect, his family had resources to spare.
Mystic Water Pills could increase the speed of Soul Power cultivation, while Soul Ascension Pills could help break through bottlenecks. For Huo Yuhao as she was now, these two things were nothing short of charcoal delivered in the snow.
Wang Dong put the letter away, a smile curling his lips. He certainly would not foolishly play the pig to eat the tiger. Since he had backing and resources, he would make full use of them.
Huo Yuhao's talent was not poor; she merely lacked resources and guidance. Given enough support, she would soon soar into the sky.
When Wang Dong finished his letter and came out of the dormitory, the sky had already darkened. From a distance, he saw bright lights and a sea of heads at the academy entrance, with a long queue stretching out like a dragon.
Wang Dong paused, then approached for a look. Good grief, people were packed three deep around Huo Yuhao's grilled fish stall, and the line almost reached the street corner.
The aroma of grilled fish drifted through the night breeze, whetting everyone's appetite. Many people chatted as they waited in line.
"Isn't this grilled fish ridiculously good? I've never had grilled fish that smelled this amazing!"
"And look at the girl grilling it. She's beautiful and can cook, too. What a catch!"
"Exactly! Imagine marrying her when she grows up. Wouldn't that be something?"
"Forget it. How old is she? Could you really bring yourself to do that?"
"I was just saying..."
Wang Dong's face instantly darkened. Standing at the end of the line, he watched the boys ahead of him sizing up and commenting on Huo Yuhao, his mouth twitching.
Good grief, little Miss Huo really does have extraordinary charm. It's only her first day running a stall, and she's already drawn this many frenzied bees and fluttering butterflies.
Just as he was wondering whether to go up and lend Huo Yuhao some support, a commotion suddenly broke out ahead.
Wang Dong frowned and strode forward, only to find a red-haired young man and a blue-haired young man arguing until their faces were red in front of the fish stall.
"Bei Bei, let me have this fish! My Nannan hasn't had any yet!" The red-haired young man clutched a grilled fish, refusing to let go no matter what.
"Get lost! I was here first!" The blue-haired young man also held the other end of the fish in a death grip. "My Xiaoya loves this, too!"
"Let go!"
"You let go!"
The two tugged back and forth, neither willing to yield, and for a while, the scene was utter chaos.
Behind them stood a green-haired girl and a girl with delicate, lovely features-Tang Ya and Jiang Nannan.
Tang Ya watched Bei Bei helplessly, while Jiang Nannan blushed, wishing she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
Huo Yuhao stood behind the grill with a spatula in her hand, watching the farce before her, somewhat at a loss. She was just about to offer a few words to calm them down when she caught a familiar figure out of the corner of her eye.
Her eyes lit up. Without another word, she picked up a fish grilled golden and crisp from beside her and held it out to him:
"Here, eat this. I saved it for you."
Wang Dong looked at the grilled fish before him, then at Huo Yuhao's sparkling eyes. Warmth filled his heart, and with a chuckle, he took it and bit off a large mouthful.
The fish was crisp outside and tender within, melting in his mouth with a distinctive hint of spices. It really was delicious.
That, however, thoroughly infuriated the red-haired young man beside them.
"How dare you!" Xu Sanshi's eyes bulged. He stopped fighting over the fish in his hand and pointed straight at Wang Dong's nose, berating him.
"Who are you? How dare you cut in front of me! And you..." He turned to Huo Yuhao.
"What's wrong with you, girl? I've been waiting in line forever, and instead of giving me a fish, you gave him one first?"
Huo Yuhao shrank back at his harsh tone and explained softly, "He... he's my friend."
"Being your friend doesn't make it okay!" Xu Sanshi looked indignant. "I, Xu Sanshi, have been at Shrek Academy for years, and nobody has ever dared cut in front of me!"
Bei Bei could no longer stand watching from the side and was about to speak up in their defense, but Wang Dong had already stepped forward.
He calmly swallowed his last mouthful of fish, wiped his mouth, and looked at Xu Sanshi. His voice was level. "If you want grilled fish, that's fine. I can have Yuhao keep grilling right now. You can eat as much as you want."
Xu Sanshi froze. "Then why did you just..."
"But..." Wang Dong shifted his tone, the corners of his mouth curving into something between a smile and a smirk. "That privilege is reserved for the strong. You? You don't qualify."
At those words, the surroundings instantly fell silent.
Everyone stared at Wang Dong, dumbstruck. Has this guy gone mad? Does he know who's standing in front of him? Xu Sanshi, one of the outer court's twin stars at Shrek Academy, already close to becoming a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor at fourteen!
To the new students, he was an insurmountable mountain. Yet this boy actually dared say he did not qualify in front of so many people?
Xu Sanshi's expression instantly darkened. Narrowing his eyes, he looked Wang Dong up and down, his voice carrying a dangerous edge. "Kid, you've got guts. Do you know who I am?"
"Sure." Wang Dong shrugged. "Xu Sanshi, one of the outer court's twin stars. I hear you're almost a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor. Pretty impressive."
"And you still dare talk to me like that?" Xu Sanshi sneered. "Do you think I have a good temper?"
"I don't know whether you have a good temper." Wang Dong looked at him, a trace of provocation in his voice. "But I do know that if you really had any ability, you wouldn't be here fighting someone over a grilled fish."
Xu Sanshi's face turned utterly black. In all his life, no one had ever dared speak to him like this.
He drew a deep breath and suddenly smiled, though there was a chill in that smile:
"Fine, kid. You've got guts. Do you dare fight me? If you win, I'll let today's matter go."
"A fight is fine." Wang Dong nodded. "But just fighting is boring. We need some stakes."
"What stakes?"
"If I win, you give me a Mystic Water Pill." Wang Dong looked at him, his tone casual. "I hear your Netherworld Sect produces Mystic Water Pills. It shouldn't be hard for you to get one, right?"
Xu Sanshi's pupils contracted slightly. How does this kid know I have a Mystic Water Pill? He did indeed carry one, given to him by his family for cultivation, to have on hand in case he needed it.
But he had never shown it to outsiders. How did this boy know?
He stared at Wang Dong for a long while before finally snorting. "Fine, I agree. But..." His tone shifted, and a confident smile curled his lips.
"Don't say I'm bullying a new student. I'll stand still and let you attack. If you can break through my defenses, you win. How about it?"
Another uproar swept through the crowd. Stand still and let a new student attack? It sounded like he was going easy on him, but in reality, with Xu Sanshi's defensive strength so close to the Four-Ring Soul Ancestor level, never mind a new student-even a full-force strike from a Four-Ring Soul Ancestor might not break through his defenses.
This was simply a guaranteed win.
Yet Wang Dong smiled.
"Fine." He nodded. "Then it's settled."
Huo Yuhao stood behind the grill, watching Wang Dong with some concern. Although she knew he was strong, his opponent was Xu Sanshi, one of the outer court's twin stars.
She parted her lips, wanting to say something, but saw Wang Dong turn back and smile at her. That smile held a power that inexplicably put her at ease.
P.S. There won't be too many female leads, nor will every girl be taken in.
For now, Huo Yuhao and the Three-Eyed Golden Lion are planned!
