Wang Dong froze for a moment. "Thank me for what?"
Huo Yuhao shook her head without saying anything more. She simply looked at Wang Dong, her eyes reddening slightly.
Without Wang Dong, she might still have been that girl who was bullied, might still have been living in Dai Huabin's shadow. Wang Dong had changed everything for her.
She would always remember how, when she was at her most helpless, Wang Dong had stepped forward and stood in front of her, holding up a patch of sky for her.
Seeing her like that, Wang Dong's heart softened. He reached out and stroked her head. "All right, don't think so much. We'll have plenty of time to talk about it slowly."
Huo Yuhao nodded, a smile returning to her face. After finishing their meal, the two headed toward the dormitory. They would be moving in together tomorrow, and both were a little excited.
Wang Dong had already begun planning how to arrange the room, whether to get two beds or simply sleep together.
Huo Yuhao kept her head lowered, a blush on her face, her thoughts unknown. She stole a glance at Wang Dong, then hurriedly lowered her head again, her heart pounding.
Night enveloped Shrek Academy. Only a few dim yellow Soul Guidance Lamps shed faint light along the secluded path.
Wang Dong and Huo Yuhao walked side by side, so close that they could feel each other's breathing.
Huo Yuhao kept her head lowered, a faint blush on her face, her heart thumping as though a little rabbit nestled inside it. They would be moving in together tomorrow. Both expectant and nervous, she had already begun imagining scenes of their life together.
But just as they reached a corner, Wang Dong suddenly stopped. A cold glint flashed through his eyes, and his body tensed slightly, as though he had sensed something.
Before Huo Yuhao could react, several figures suddenly shot out of the shadows and lunged at them. They moved extremely fast, carrying fierce killing intent, clearly coming for the two of them.
Wang Dong's pupils contracted as he instantly sensed the auras of those figures. Three Soul King-level Soul Masters! They were here to assassinate the two of them!
Huo Yuhao was startled and instinctively moved to strike. She instantly released her Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion Martial Soul, and a chill spread outward, making even the surrounding air seem to freeze.
But Wang Dong moved faster than she did. Anger flashed through his eyes. Interrupting our time alone together? You're courting death!
He abruptly released his Martial Soul, and four Soul Rings instantly rose-one yellow, one purple, and two black. The Clear Sky Hammer appeared in his hand, radiating a heavy pressure.
The three Soul Masters also released their Martial Souls in unison, all tiger-, leopard-, or wolf-type Beast Martial Souls. Their leader had a tiger Martial Soul, his muscles knotted all over his body as he radiated a ferocious aura. His strength approached that of a Six-Ring Soul Emperor.
The other two had a leopard Martial Soul and a wolf Martial Soul respectively, with extremely fast movements and fierce attacks. The three worked together seamlessly; clearly, this was not their first time doing this sort of thing.
The lead Soul Master was still calculating how to withdraw quickly from the scene after killing these two little brats.
He had even mapped out his escape route in his mind, planning to go straight over the academy's back mountain after the killings and leave Shrek City that very night.
But before he could think any further, he saw Wang Dong charging at him, swinging the Clear Sky Hammer. That speed, that momentum-he was like an enraged tiger.
The lead Soul Master was shocked and instinctively tried to dodge, but Wang Dong was simply too fast. A heavy, powerful hammer blow slammed straight into his chest.
In that instant, he felt as though a mountain had struck him. Several ribs in his chest snapped with a series of cracks, and his entire body flew backward like a kite with its string cut, breaking through several trees before coming to a stop.
He lay facedown on the ground, vomiting great mouthfuls of blood, his eyes filled with disbelief.
The other two Soul Masters froze. They had never expected Wang Dong to be so strong. A four-ring Soul Ancestor had actually sent a Soul King approaching six rings flying with a single hammer blow?
How was that possible? But Wang Dong gave them no time to react. He abruptly activated his third Soul Skill, Clone!
His figure split into three, and three Wang Dongs charged at the two Soul Masters at once. Each held a Clear Sky Hammer, and each radiated a terrifying aura.
The leopard Martial Soul Master reacted fastest. His figure flickered, turning into an afterimage as he attempted to attack Wang Dong from the side.
But Wang Dong's Clone seemed to have anticipated his movement, sweeping its hammer across with a howling rush of wind.
The leopard Martial Soul Master hurriedly dodged, but the shock wave from that blow still grazed his shoulder, making him stagger and nearly fall.
Seizing the opportunity, the wolf Martial Soul Master launched a sneak attack from behind Wang Dong, his sharp claws gleaming coldly as they stabbed straight toward his heart from the back. But Wang Dong seemed to have eyes in the back of his head. He abruptly turned and met the attack with a hammer blow.
The Clear Sky Hammer collided with the sharp claws with a dull boom. The wolf Martial Soul Master felt an enormous force travel along his claws, jarring the web of his hand numb and robbing his entire arm of sensation.
Wang Dong snorted coldly. Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer!
All three Wang Dongs swung their Clear Sky Hammers at once, every blow carrying the force of ten thousand tons as they rained down on the pair like a raging storm.
The two Soul Masters resisted with all their might, but before Wang Dong, their Soul Power seemed made of paper, collapsing at the slightest touch.
A hammer struck the leopard Martial Soul Master in the shoulder, sending him flying into a wall, blood spilling from his mouth.
The wolf Martial Soul Master tried to flee, but Wang Dong's Clone had already blocked his escape. A hammer smashed into his leg, knocking him straight to the ground.
Wang Dong cursed as he fought. "You pack of dogs dare come to assassinate me? You didn't even bother asking around about who I am! That useless Dai Huabin didn't dare come himself, so he sent you here to die?"
