The moment he stepped through the cafeteria doors, he caused a stir.
For no other reason than that Wang Dong was simply too handsome. His long, pinkish-blue hair fell loosely around him, his blue eyes were clear and deep, and his face was impossibly beautiful. Coupled with the masculinity that radiated from his very bones, his hormones were practically overflowing.
He had a few more shades of manliness than the Wang Dong in the original story. Standing there, he was like a beam of light that made it impossible to look away.
Quite a few female students' eyes lit up. Several bolder ones even stood, ready to strike up a conversation.
But they had barely taken a step when they saw what happened next.
Wang Dong walked up to the serving window, glanced at the menu, and ordered ten deluxe set meals in one go.
Even the server froze. "Student... are you here alone?"
"Yeah. I'll start with ten to tide me over." Wang Dong's expression did not change.
The ten deluxe set meals were brought out, piling an entire table high. Wang Dong sat down and began sweeping through them like a gale scattering clouds.
His table manners were not bad, but he ate incredibly fast. Each meal disappeared in just a few mouthfuls, leaving the people nearby staring, dumbstruck.
Ten minutes later, all ten meals had been polished off. Wang Dong set down his chopsticks, rubbed his stomach, and frowned. "Looks like... I'm still a little hungry."
He stood again and went to the serving window. "Twenty more."
The entire cafeteria fell silent. Everyone looked at Wang Dong as though he were a monster. Even the server's hands trembled.
The twenty deluxe set meals were piled up, taking up almost the entire table. Wang Dong's expression remained unchanged as he buried himself in eating again.
The female students who had been about to approach him silently sat back down, exchanging looks. Handsome he certainly was, but wasn't that appetite a little too outrageous? Who could afford to feed him?
Wang Dong paid no attention whatsoever to the looks around him and simply kept eating.
Only one thought filled his mind. This Golden Dragon King Bloodline has way too big an appetite. Looks like I'll have to find ways to earn more money, or food alone will eat me into poverty.
After eating and drinking his fill, Wang Dong patted his stomach and walked out of the cafeteria, thoroughly satisfied. The sunlight was just right. He squinted up at the sky, reckoned it was about time, and decided to report to his classroom.
Today was the first day of classes for the new students.
He ambled leisurely toward the door of Freshman Class One. Before he even entered, he heard a noisy commotion inside. Wang Dong frowned and stepped into the classroom, spotting two familiar figures at once.
Dai Huabin and Huo Yuhao.
The two were facing off, surrounded by a ring of new students watching the spectacle.
Dai Huabin still wore that same defiant air. With his arms folded across his chest, he looked down at Huo Yuhao before him, a mocking smile on his face.
Huo Yuhao stood opposite him, her frail frame slightly taut and her hands clenched until her knuckles turned white. Undisguised anger filled her eyes.
"Well, well. Who would've thought a bastard could get into Shrek Academy..." Dai Huabin's voice was not loud, but it carried clearly through the entire classroom. "What kind of dog-shit luck did you stumble into? Did you get in through the back door?"
Huo Yuhao pressed her lips into a thin line and said nothing.
Seeing her remain silent, Dai Huabin grew even more smug. He stepped forward and looked down at her from above:
"I'm telling you, from now on, whenever you run into me, Dai Huabin, at Shrek Academy, remember to keep your head down. Otherwise, you'll be in for it."
His words were extremely nasty. Several nearby freshmen exchanged glances, but none dared speak.
On the very first day of school, everyone already knew Dai Huabin's identity: a young master of the White Tiger Duke's Mansion and a three-ring Soul Elder. With that background and strength, who would dare provoke him lightly?
Huo Yuhao gritted her teeth hard, clenching her hands even tighter until her nails nearly dug into her flesh. Her eyes were full of undisguised killing intent, yet her hands trembled slightly.
Because she was too weak. Her Soul Power was only rank eleven now, while Dai Huabin was a three-ring Soul Elder.
The gap was too great, so great that she was not even qualified to fight him. If she charged at him now, he would only crush her to death like an ant.
She was not afraid of death, but she still had vengeance to take. She would not spare a single one of those people at the White Tiger Duke's Mansion. She could not die here, much less ruin her chance at revenge over a moment of impulse.
So she endured. Even if the hatred made her heart bleed, she could only endure.
The freshmen around them watched with varying looks in their eyes, but most were indifferent. It was no concern of theirs, so they kept well clear. None wanted to offend a young master of the White Tiger Duke's Mansion for a girl they did not know.
Just then, a teasing voice suddenly rang out:
"Keep your spit to yourself when you talk. You're leaking air through your teeth. Speaking of which, do you really not need to get those teeth fixed? And that bruised, swollen face of yours is an embarrassment to Shrek."
Everyone instantly turned toward the voice.
In the classroom doorway, a boy with long, pinkish-blue hair leaned against the doorframe, his hands in his pockets and a lazy smile on his lips.
Sunlight streamed in behind him, gilding his entire figure and making the contours of his impossibly handsome face even more distinct against the light.
He's so handsome!
That was the first thought in everyone's mind.
Only then did they register it. Wait, what did he just say? Bruised and swollen? What did he mean?
Everyone's eyes swung back to Dai Huabin's face in unison. Only after looking closely did they notice that his face really was mottled with bruises. There was bruising at the corner of his eye, and the corner of his mouth was split. Though not severe, the injuries were certainly quite noticeable.
No one had noticed before, but now that Wang Dong had pointed it out, they all saw it.
Dai Huabin's expression instantly turned hideous. Of course he knew where the injuries on his face had come from. That bastard Wang Dong had beaten him last night!
When he got up and looked in the mirror that morning, even he had been startled. In the end, he could only make up the excuse that he had "accidentally fallen" to bluff his way through.
Now that Wang Dong had exposed it in front of everyone, he practically wished he could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.
"What does that have to do with you?!" Dai Huabin glared at Wang Dong through gritted teeth, his eyes full of anger and wariness.
Wang Dong had already beaten fear into him last night. Though he refused to admit defeat aloud, he knew perfectly well that he was no match for this person.
Wang Dong ignored him, walked straight over to Huo Yuhao, and stopped beside her.
He glanced at Huo Yuhao's slightly reddened eyes, then at Dai Huabin's dark expression opposite them. His tone was level, yet carried an unquestionable force:
"She is my friend. Naturally, her business is my business."
Huo Yuhao suddenly raised her head, her eyes fixed on Wang Dong's back.
Her lips trembled slightly, and something swirled in her eyes, but she forced herself to hold back her tears. At that moment, Wang Dong's figure standing before her seemed to be draped in light.
Dai Huabin's expression grew even uglier. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but remembering the terror of being at Wang Dong's mercy the night before, he swallowed his words in the end. With a cold snort, he turned his head away and said nothing more.
Just then, the class bell rang.
An elderly woman walked in through the doorway. She wore a plain gray robe, and her hair was grizzled. Her face was gaunt, but her eyes were as sharp as knives as they swept across the room, carrying an air of authority without anger.
