Sky Big Boss felt his courage ebb before an unknown terror. Scarlet light enveloped his entire body, and furious assaults came from every direction, as though he stood in a boundless ocean.
"I reckon... I reckon..." The mighty Ork's brain had stalled. Everything around him looked much like the normally chaotic Warp, but the roaring, twisted, indescribable Daemon Tide of old-the Neverborn that could ignite his fighting spirit-had vanished like a cursed wind.
The fiery red deck seethed. Only the hum of the Iron Engine and the foul smell of machine oil reminded him that he still stood aboard his own warship.
"This is my domain." Evan's voice came from every direction, and every silhouette opened its mouth to roar.
"Dis is my big ship!" Blue and white light danced across the Ork's iron-hard muscles. Space around him twisted into a faint spiral, and his force field blazed anew as he rebuilt his conviction.
Let dese suicidal little bugs smash themselves to bits on my steel armor!
Evan's body coalesced again from a pool of red river water. His features remained indistinct, but his furrowed brow was still visible.
He exhaled, and the army of red phantoms changed with that breath. The shadows were arming themselves.
Through the gaps between the brave phantoms charging at the front, the "army" behind them could be seen gathering more tightly. Some of the smaller red shadows slowly melted into shields and suits of armor, fully equipping the soldiers.
Evan's brow furrowed more deeply. The armor covering their bodies was extremely unstable, its surface constantly rippling. Invisible astral gales blew ceaselessly through the Warp, leaving the tangible energy constructs he had painstakingly formed like willows in a gale: their cores stood firm, but their branches thrashed uncontrollably.
This wave of warriors began its charge.
