From the Orks' perspective, this was what they saw.
The Great Mushroom King charged at the three most Waaagh enemies faster than their eyes could follow. With a single blow, he cleaved in half a creaking iron brute that had slaughtered countless boyz.
That was so Waaagh.
While the boyz behind him were busy thinking nonsense, Evan had already started fighting another Armiger. Meanwhile, Boss Captain was furious that the Great Mushroom King had stolen his thunder, and charged at the bone-covered Mek with a vehicle full of bombs.
The covering fire from the Knight suit in the middle accomplished little, and its pilot made a decisive choice.
Turn around, accelerate, run!
I've already turned traitor. Why the hell should I risk my life?
You think my suit is still intact because I'm good at fighting? No, it's because I read the situation damn well, and I run fast!
The ones who could fight are all dead! Even an Emperor-class Titan fell, and a Ramillies-class Star Fortress couldn't hold out. Why should a Knight like me try to play the hero here?
His Knight suit had very few special modifications. The main one allowed its shield to change direction rapidly.
As he turned, his shield had already swung into its new position. He took off at full speed, ruthlessly abandoning his comrades.
Evan had no intention of pursuing him. Keeping Boss Captain alive was enough; the rest did not matter. Instead, he swung at an Armiger, seized its metal torso, and used its body to block a blast from the Knight suit before circling around the Knight's flank.
A heavy Timber Rifle was firing from a position outside the Main Cannon's firing arc. Its feeble shots could not even shatter the battered steel plate on his chest.
