Prince Yriel was utterly bewildered.
He, Iyanden's noblest prince, the famed pirate king, was now riding on a god's shoulders?
And that god was... running?
"Hold tight! We're taking off!"
Liu Zhipeng did not bother checking whether Yriel was seated securely. He simply launched his charge.
Like a golden meteor, he smashed through the temple doors and plunged back into the sea of bugs in the square.
"Where's the big one?!" Liu Zhipeng shouted as he swept his sword across, swatting dozens of Gargoyles out of the air like flies.
Yriel was an elite warrior, after all, and quickly recovered from his shock. He steadied himself on Liu Zhipeng's shoulders and swung his Monomolecular Sabre, clearing away the smaller bugs trying to climb up.
He activated his tactical eyepiece and linked it to the fleet in orbit.
"At your two o'clock, up ahead! Eight hundred meters! He's hiding behind the Tyrant Guard!" Yriel shouted. "Careful! The Shadow in the Warp is very strong there!"
"I see him!"
The wounded Hive Tyrant was hiding among a group of Tyrant Guard that resembled living tanks, using his rapid regeneration to repair his wounds while directing the surrounding swarm to encircle them.
He was clever. He knew he could not win a duel, so he intended to wear this golden giant down with endless waves of bugs.
"Want a war of attrition?"
Liu Zhipeng sneered.
"A mighty wind rises... and the bugs go flying!!"
Liu Zhipeng suddenly stopped, gripping the greatsword End of Lament with both hands, its point facing down.
"Yriel! Close your eyes!"
"What?"
"Close your eyes!!!"
Yriel instinctively shut his eyes.
The next instant.
Whoosh!
Yriel felt a powerful sensation of weightlessness.
When he opened his eyes again, he discovered to his horror that they had crossed eight hundred meters
