Deafening cheers erupted from the Nurgling gang's position. Its members clambered out of the trenches, dancing and waving their arms as they celebrated this "great" victory. This new "game" had brought them more joy than any of their old "bumping games" ever had.
Liu Zhipeng watched it all, knowing this was only the beginning.
His goal was far more than simply driving off a patrol. He intended to give the lofty Blood God a "grand gift" he would never forget.
Over the next few days, the Bubblegum gang's "performance art" began spreading across the entire battlefield.
They were no longer content with passive defense. Liu Zhipeng began sending out squads to take the initiative. Their objective was not to fight, but to "cause trouble."
They slipped behind the Khorne legions' lines and smeared "Surprise Sauce" over the Khorne Daemons' weapons and armor. Those weapons, forged from brass and steel and covered in runes of slaughter, rapidly rusted and rotted upon contact with the liquid, becoming heaps of useless scrap.
They hurled "water balloons" made from the bladders of enormous beasts and filled with "Surprise Sauce" into the barrels of Khorne's war machines-the Skull Cannons. When the Skull Cannons fired, they no longer spat out burning skulls, but great globs of sticky, foul-smelling liquid that splattered their own troops in the face.
They even targeted the Khorne legions' most important strategic objectives-the Skull Altars where offerings were made to the Blood God.
They secretly covered the mountains of skulls with all kinds of ridiculous graffiti. Using pus in different colors, they painted smiling faces, little flowers, and even the crooked words "Grandfather loves you" on the skulls.
The next day, when the Khorne Daemons saw that the offerings they had painstakingly gathered for the Blood God had become a heap of brightly colored, mocking "artworks," they collectively went berserk.
This insult inflamed their fury more than any battlefield defeat. They began recklessly hunting for the damned little green bugs that had desecrated their faith.
And that was exactly the result Liu Zhipeng wanted.
Through this approach, he successfully drew much of the Khorne legions' attention away from the front lines. Like a masterful bullfighter waving a deeply insulting red cloth, he led the furious bull called "Khorne" by the nose, making it squander its strength and rage on a battlefield of his choosing.
His reputation began spreading through Nurgle's legions.
At first, the higher-ranking Nurgle Daemons paid no attention to this bunch of Nurglings "fooling around" on the battlefield. But when they discovered that the inexplicable "distraction" of the Khorne legions had greatly eased the pressure on the front lines, they began taking notice of this unusual Nurgling unit.
They did not understand his tactics, but they saw the results.
Liu Zhipeng and his little Nurgling companions, the lowliest of creatures, had managed to disgust their eternal enemies in the most absurd way imaginable.
Liu Zhipeng's ultimate target was the commander of the Khorne legions on this battlefield-a Bloodthirster named Ka'Bandha. He was a legendary being, a great champion who had won glory for the Blood God in countless wars.
Liu Zhipeng knew that only when he left some of "Grandfather's surprises" on this being as well would his "performance art" truly reach its climax.
He began devising an even crazier, bolder plan. A plan that would require every member of the gang, and even himself, to stake their lives.
He would give this Bloodthirster a one-of-a-kind coronation, overflowing with "love" and "rot."
Ka'Bandha, the Blood God's favorite, the embodiment of brass and fury. His very existence was a slaughter of life. When he descended upon the battlefield, even the air burned with his boundless rage. At that moment, this great Bloodthirster was at the height of his fury.
He cared nothing for victory or defeat on the front lines, nor for the advance of those foolish Nurgle Daemons. He cared about only one thing-those damned, blasphemous little green bugs.
His weapons had been smeared with sticky excrement, his Skull Altars painted with ridiculous little flowers, and his vanguard harassed by cheap little tricks until they lost all enthusiasm. To a Khorne Champion who valued honor and pure slaughter more than life itself, all of this was an intolerable humiliation.
He swore to personally grind those bugs into the lowliest dust and use their souls to wipe the stains from his war boots.
And Liu Zhipeng had been waiting for this very moment. Like the most patient hunter, he waited for the most savage beast to charge headlong into his trap.
"Does everyone understand?"
Inside a cavern formed from enormous masses of intestinal tissue, the gang's core members gathered together. Liu Zhipeng's voice reached every member through his constantly bubbling mouth.
"Got it!" Boji answered first, excitedly poking the ground with the single horn on his head. "We're going to put the prettiest 'crown' on that biggest red guy!"
The other Nurglings chimed in with cheerful cries of agreement. In their simple minds, this was another novel, entertaining game their boss had invented. They had no idea that the price of this game would be all their lives.
Watching their innocent expressions, Liu Zhipeng felt a flicker of conflicting emotions. He was exploiting them, using these creatures with the minds of children to carry out his twisted revenge and pave the way for his next reincarnation. But perhaps that was the essence of Chaos-grand concepts brought to fruition by the lowliest lives, while those lives themselves knew nothing of their mission.
"Good," he said, suppressing his distracting thoughts as he continued laying out the plan. "Remember, when you see the 'big guy' fall, that's the signal. Until then, no matter what happens, you must stay in your 'mud pits' and have the 'Surprise Sauce' ready."
The "big guy" he referred to was an unclean one in Nurgle's legion named Gragg, "The Vomiter." This Great Unclean One had already been gravely wounded in the earlier fighting and moved sluggishly, making him the target Ka'Bandha was most likely to hunt down first. Liu Zhipeng's entire plan revolved around this Great Unclean One's ultimate fate.
