Fang Bear Beast

Wang Yan had barely stepped out of the cave when he saw an astonishing sight.

In the distant mountain forest-

Boom, boom, boom! A series of tremendous explosions thundered out. Enormous trees toppled one after another as a frenzy of noise surged through the woods...

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!"

"Clang, clang, clang!" Piercing whistles and metallic clashes rang out, mingled with furious cries in a woman's voice. Those were clearly cultivators' voices. Cultivators were fighting a Demon Beast over there.

"What happened?" Though curious, Wang Yan did not dare approach rashly. From the sounds, some formidable Demon Beast was clearly fighting several cultivators. He had not expected a battle at this hour, just as dawn was breaking. With that thought, he hurried out of the cave and instead scrambled up the cliff. From higher ground, he would be able to see more clearly.

Wang Yan was now a cultivator at Minor Completion of the Cultivation Realm, and his magical power was several times greater than when he had first entered it. Flecks of red light flashed beneath his feet. Using both hands and feet, he scaled the cliff, dozens of zhang high, in fewer than a dozen breaths. Gazing into the distance, he could make out a vague scene...

There-

In the forest several hundred zhang away, an enormous Demon Beast, three or four zhang tall, seemed to be pursuing three cultivators. Gold, red, and blue light splashed in every direction. Clearly, three cultivators were battling the gigantic beast.

But!

The Demon Beast clearly had the upper hand. It chased the three cultivators and battered them relentlessly. They appeared to be two men and one woman.

After watching for a while-

Wang Yan began to see the pattern. Though the three cultivators were being pursued hard, at every critical moment, one of them unleashed a shower of golden arrows that rained toward the beast. The beast was extremely wary of those arrows. It roared, shielding its front with its enormous forearms as it swiftly dodged aside.

The golden arrows had astonishing power. They pierced straight through numerous trees so thick that several people would have had to join hands to encircle them. Sharp cracks erupted across an area several zhang wide as the arrows tore through the air.

Yet!

Those golden streaks seemed to do little damage when they struck the beast. They merely lodged in its arms, unable to pierce through its body!

The three cultivators seized the opportunity to sprint ahead at astonishing speed. The beast bellowed furiously, threads of red light bursting from its enormous claws. Every swipe brought several large trees crashing down. Its power was terrifying.

For a time!

The three cultivators and the Demon Beast fought fiercely as they raced along, already covering several hundred zhang.

"What a formidable Demon Beast! Could it be in the core condensation realm?" After watching for a while, Wang Yan inwardly drew a sharp breath and murmured aloud. Then he could not help wondering, Who are those cultivators?

With that thought, Wang Yan frowned slightly. The cliff was too far from the forest, and it was still dark. Though his magical power had increased considerably after reaching Minor Completion of the Cultivation Realm, he still could not see clearly...

Suddenly!

"Roar!" The Demon Beast in the forest let out an earthshaking bellow. Countless leaves blew into the air as a tremendous gale sprang up out of nowhere. Roaring in utter fury, it abruptly flashed with red light, and its entire body swelled a size larger. Writhing red light enveloped it. After releasing that light, the beast suddenly went berserk, its speed and strength increasing dramatically!

Suddenly!

"Boom!" A thunderous explosion rang out as the Demon Beast stamped its massive feet against the ground, cracking an area several zhang across. Its enormous body sprang into the air. Despite its size, it leaped dozens of zhang, sailing straight over the three fleeing cultivators...

"Thud!" A muffled crash sent countless rocks and trees flying. The Demon Beast glared savagely at the cultivators, raised its enormous claw, and slashed through the air toward the female cultivator.

"Junior sister!" the two male cultivators cried out at the sight.

Orange light swirled around the tall cultivator. Wielding an enormous saber, he charged at the Demon Beast. With a furious "Hah!", he sent dazzling orange light surging from his saber and hacked viciously at the beast's back...

But!

"Roar!" The Demon Beast bellowed and swept its enormous claw behind it. A scorching gust blasted out, followed by the ringing clash of metal. Its claw forcibly knocked both the cultivator and his descending saber away in a single blow.

"Pfft!" With a muffled groan and a scream, the tall cultivator flew like a cannonball into a large tree. A dull crash sounded, and the entire trunk snapped.

On the other side!

"Damn it!" The other male cultivator, who was rushing forward, cursed in terror at the sight. Blue light erupted from the longsword in his hand. He pointed a finger, and with a piercing whoosh, the sword became a streak of blue light that shot toward the beast's back.

However!

"Whoosh!" A gale swept up. As though it had eyes in the back of its head, the Demon Beast abruptly ducked, instantly evading the blue sword's attack!

"Die!" the female cultivator shrieked. The golden bow in her hands shuddered, sending dozens of golden arrows shooting straight toward the Demon Beast's face.

But!

"Thud, thud!" A series of heavy impacts sounded as the golden arrows struck the Demon Beast like a sudden storm. Blood splashed everywhere, and the red-glowing beast let out a scream.

Suddenly!

"Roar!" It lashed out with a claw!

"Thud!" The blow struck the female cultivator squarely, sending her flying. Its claw nearly snapped her waist in two. Blood sprayed everywhere as she crashed among the trees.

At that sight!

"Tsk! How awful!" Wang Yan smacked his lips and exclaimed softly...

But!

By now, the sky had begun to brighten, and Wang Yan could vaguely make out the Demon Beast's appearance. It looked like an enormous lumbering bear, only far more ferocious. Its fur was red, and two tusks several feet long protruded from its huge, blood-red maw. Its claws were also several feet long, like sharp blades. It was actually an extremely rare Fang Bear Beast!

When Wang Yan got a clear look at the three cultivators-

He froze!

People from the Ma Family? Wang Yan thought in surprise. A trace of killing intent suddenly showed on his face. Still, he knew that even without his intervention, these members of the Ma Family would never survive.

Because!

The burly young man and the female cultivator struck by the Fang Bear Beast could no longer get up. Only the handsome young man in a long robe remained standing.

"Roar!" The Fang Bear Beast had no intention of letting the robed young man escape. With a sudden bellow, it charged toward him, its heavy footsteps booming against the ground.

"Damn it!" the young man roared in terror. Spiritual light suddenly flashed in his hand, and a talisman shimmering with azure light appeared. He muttered an incantation, and azure light flickered across the talisman...

"Slap!" The robed young man slapped the talisman onto himself. It turned into a streak of azure light and burrowed into his body. Dazzling azure radiance immediately erupted around him. Whoosh! Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh! With a burst of rushing air, his speed multiplied several times, and he sprinted away...

The Fang Bear Beast thundered after the robed young man with its ponderous footsteps.

In no time, the Fang Bear Beast had chased him several hundred zhang away...

"That Fang Bear Beast must be a core condensation realm Demon Beast, right? It's incredibly powerful!" Watching from the distant cliff, Wang Yan murmured to himself.

Suddenly!

"Good! People from the Ma Family!" Hatred flashed across Wang Yan's face. He abruptly stood up, then leaped straight down the cliff.

"Hey! You little brat! What are you doing?" Card Fairy hurriedly asked.

"Killing those Ma Family bastards!" Wang Yan replied...

As he spoke!

"Boom, boom, boom!" Wang Yan struck the cliff face several times with his hands and feet before landing on the ground. He immediately sprinted toward the fallen male and female cultivators.

When Wang Yan reached the site of the battle between the Demon Beast and the cultivators, all he saw was utter devastation...

At the sight-

"Save... me...!" The female cultivator was not dead yet. Her eyes widened; she had clearly spotted Wang Yan. She murmured the words, but she could not move a muscle. The burly young man was unconscious.

"Don't worry! I'll save you!" Wang Yan smiled faintly and hurriedly replied. With that, he rushed toward the female cultivator and came to her side. Half her waist had been smashed inward, and her ruptured intestines spilled out. It was a horrifying sight...

However!

"Whoosh!" Wang Yan reached behind his back and drew his bone blade. His breathing grew somewhat heavy...

"You... what are you doing?" The female cultivator's eyes widened in terror. She murmured the question and tried to struggle up.

Suddenly!

"Die, you Ma Family bastard!" Wang Yan viciously drove his bone blade into her throat. With a wet squelch, blood sprayed everywhere. The female cultivator stared at him with disbelieving eyes, glaring like a vengeful ghost!

Wang Yan's face was twisted with savagery, and his eyes were bloodshot. Whatever grudge he bore against this female cultivator, he had killed her outright!

"!" His face contorted, Wang Yan abruptly turned toward the unconscious male cultivator. That glance brought a shock: the man had actually climbed to his feet and was staring at Wang Yan in disbelief!
