Background / History
The Uchiha survivor
Sasuke survives the destruction of the Uchiha Clan and regards his older brother, Itachi, as the murderer of his family. His surviving status does not shield him from village hostility: crowds direct anger at him as a clan representative, and a hospital nurse mocks his survival as an ability to run away 4 11.
When he learns that Itachi has returned to Konoha and critically injured Kakashi, Sasuke abandons everything else and races out of the hospital to find him. The news immediately revives the hatred attached to his family’s deaths 11.
Land of Snow mission
During Team 7’s mission, Yūya challenges Sasuke’s willingness to risk his life for strangers when Konoha has done nothing to avenge the Uchiha. Sasuke loses his will to intervene, and the team watches the Snow Ninja take Kazahana Koyuki away 22.
Further taunts force him to relive the massacre and confront his fear of Itachi. By the mission’s end, he begins separating his former affection for his brother from the fact that Itachi killed their clansmen. He returns to Konoha more rational, with less internal conflict but an undiminished commitment to revenge 28 29 30.
Defection to Orochimaru
The Sound Four infiltrate Konoha to bring Sasuke to Orochimaru, who intends to use him as a reincarnation vessel. Sasuke chooses to leave because he believes Orochimaru can provide the power needed to kill Itachi 34 36.
Sakura intercepts him at the village gate. He rejects her appeals to their Team 7 memories, slaps her during their argument, and defends Yūya’s suffering despite personally disliking him. When Sakura suggests that becoming an orphan would let her accompany him, Sasuke throws a kunai at her feet and tells her to kill her parents herself. He leaves when she cannot act on her claim 36.
After adapting to the Cursed Seal, Sasuke meets Naruto during the pursuit. Naruto explains that he has come to say goodbye, not force him home, and still considers him his best friend. Sasuke is briefly moved but insists that he cannot return 42.
The adult visitor from the future
An adult Sasuke arrives with Boruto through a space-time rift and quickly recognizes that Konoha’s history has diverged from his own. He urges Boruto not to interfere, protects him during a mob attack, and discreetly questions Naruto about the village’s upheaval 65 66.
The report that the “entire Uchiha Clan” defected briefly makes him hope that his family survived in this timeline. Jiraiya identifies him through his resemblance, conduct, questions, and Yūya’s unusual hostility. Sasuke admits his origin and warns that Urashiki Ōtsutsuki is targeting Naruto’s Nine-Tails chakra 66.
He briefs Tsunade on Urashiki’s chakra-stealing equipment, then fights the intruder after repeated accusations and clan-directed insults destroy his restraint. Although he successfully counters chakra theft with sealing techniques, his anger eventually drives him to drag Urashiki over a cliff. Both survive; Sakura rescues Sasuke, who gives her the name “Izuna” before leaving 67 70 71 73.
A different path to strength
Sasuke native to the altered timeline rejects the idea that stronger emotions and more developed eyes are his only route to defeating Itachi. He consciously suppresses his impulses, unaware that this also means resisting the influence of Indra’s reincarnated chakra 80.
In Sunagakure, he intercepts Naruto’s attack on Sasori, invokes the village’s authority over its own rogue ninja, and allows Chiyo to handle him. He also confronts Sakura over what he sees as her dependence on others rather than her own decisions 100.
After the two-and-a-half-year interval, Sasuke still has a Two-Tomoe Sharingan. Itachi’s anger at this deliberate lack of ocular development reinforces Sasuke’s belief that he has chosen the right path. He remains unable to defeat his brother, but has strengthened his chakra, begun developing Truth-Seeking Orb power, and reached the threshold of Armament Haki 107 108.
During the Moryo conflict, the Demon Realm Net traps Sasuke, Karin, and Suigetsu in painful memories. Later, Sasuke confronts Itachi with Karin, Suigetsu, and Jūgo, only to learn that Obito also participated in the Uchiha massacre 113 141.
Appearance
Sasuke has black hair and naturally dark eyes that become red when his Sharingan is active 70 80.
- Young Sasuke: Wears a signature dark blue clan outfit and carries a backpack when leaving Konoha 36.
- Cursed Seal activation: Markings cover his entire body during his adaptation inside the transport crate 42.
- Later injury: Has a shoulder burn inflicted by Itachi during an unsuccessful confrontation 107.
- Adult future counterpart: Arrives in a sharply tailored, futuristic combat outfit that immediately distinguishes him from people of the era 65.
Personality
Sasuke initially relies on his reputation as an Uchiha prodigy, the Sharingan, and the conviction that hatred will carry him toward revenge. Yūya’s humiliating criticism exposes the gap between that confidence and his actual ability to face Itachi. Sasuke responds by pursuing rigorous self-examination and deliberate emotional restraint 28 80.
His growing rationality does not make him gentle. He dismisses the Sound Four as weak, treats Sakura’s appeals as self-centered, and refuses to let personal affection outweigh revenge. Nevertheless, he can recognize suffering outside his own: his defense of Yūya distinguishes having a known enemy from living with hatred that has no clear target 36 80.
His attitude toward inherited power changes sharply. Rather than accepting praise of the Uchiha bloodline, he questions what would remain of him without chakra, ninjutsu, or his eyes. Yūya’s strength becomes an example of personal capability rather than clan prestige 108.
The adult future Sasuke is normally guarded, observant, and protective of Boruto. His battle with Urashiki reveals a continuing vulnerability to attacks on the Uchiha’s dignity: tactical ingenuity survives the provocation, but restraint eventually gives way to a nearly suicidal decision 65 71.
Abilities & Skills
Sharingan
- Native-timeline Sasuke: Awakens the Two-Tomoe Sharingan and deliberately avoids further development, rejecting Itachi’s instructions to strengthen it through extreme emotional acts 80 107.
- Adult future Sasuke: Uses the Mangekyō Sharingan and Amaterasu, coating his sword in black flames during his fight with Urashiki 70.
- Limit: Possessing the Sharingan does not make native-timeline Sasuke a match for Itachi; he openly acknowledges the difference in their strength 107.
Cursed Seal of Heaven
- Adapts to its natural-energy power during transport by the Sound Four 42 80.
- Activates Cursed Seal mode to barely stop Naruto’s attack after his Chidori Slash proves insufficient 100.
Lightning Release and Swordsmanship
- Chidori Slash: Channels Chidori through his blade to intercept Naruto in Sunagakure 100.
- Lightning-coated sword: Deflects Yūya’s Conqueror’s Haki lightning, though the collision scatters Sasuke’s electricity 107.
- Chidori Sharp Spear: Used by adult Sasuke against Urashiki; the fishing rod absorbs the attack entirely 71.
Indra’s Chakra and Truth-Seeking Orb Development
- Gains access to Indra’s reincarnated chakra through sustained control of his mental state 107.
- Practices against that chakra daily and develops the beginnings of a Truth-Seeking Orb without advancing his Sharingan 107.
- Studies chakra deeply enough to understand part of the orb’s power 108.
Armament Haki
- Reaches the threshold of a power independent of chakra, inspired by Yūya’s example 108.
- Describes its applications as strengthening the body, coating weapons, and catching enemies in unusual bodily states 108.
- Projects a small black sphere whose threat makes Dī abandon resistance despite her liquefaction ability 108.
- Limit: His projection is still an early form, and he explicitly places Yūya’s mastery far above his own 108.
Tactical Analysis and Sealing
- Uses village jurisdiction and political consequences to persuade Naruto to stop attacking Sasori 100.
- Maintains negotiations with Moryo despite deliberate attempts to provoke him about the source of his power 112.
- Adult Sasuke seals all circulating and exposed chakra to deny Urashiki’s hook anything to steal, then exploits the resulting surprise with a sword strike and kick 71.
- Adult Sasuke supplies detailed intelligence on Urashiki’s chakra absorption and stored-ninjutsu arsenal 67.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sword: Native-timeline Sasuke channels Lightning Release through his blade 100 107.
- Kusanagi Sword: Wielded by his adult future counterpart and coated with Amaterasu during the Urashiki battle 71.
- Kunai: Thrown at Sakura’s feet during their confrontation at Konoha’s gate 36.
- Backpack: Carried when he leaves Konoha for Orochimaru 36.
Relationships

- Adult Sasuke chooses “Izuna” after remembering Tobirama’s remark that he resembled someone 73.
- His effort to resist Itachi’s supposed manipulation is also, without his knowledge, a struggle against Indra’s influence on his personality 80.
