Zhou You looked extremely excited and deeply grateful as he gazed at Chu Xiaoyao, completely indebted to her for waking him up with her words this morning.
The logic he had figured out on his own was simply different from what they taught in class; not only was it easier to understand, but the joy of the former was clearly far greater than that of the latter!
Zhou You used a mechanical pencil to jab at the skin around a mosquito bite, faintly able to sense a change.
He shared his recent cultivation insights with Chu Xiaoyao, and she quietly put down the floral water and nodded.
"Right, that was actually what I meant this morning. I just didn't expect you to figure it out so quickly."
Fearing that Zhou You might notice the floral water, Chu Xiaoyao continued to divert his attention.
"This is actually also the cultivation method for the Gu Master's Myriad Poisons Body. It's quite impressive that you managed to figure it out on your own."
Zhou You and Nuomi were predictably drawn in. "What is a Gu Master?"
"They are a group of Cultivators living in the Hundred Thousand Mountains of the Southern Border on the Primordial Continent, taking the cultivation of Gu Worms as their method. Those Gu Worms carry virulent poisons, and a single mouthful of venom can wipe out a major city of a million people."
"Yet Gu Masters rely too heavily on Gu Worms, causing their bodies to be too weak compared to those in the same realm. Once someone gets close, they become mere targets to be slaughtered."
"To counter this, Gu Masters let the Gu Worms bite themselves-ten thousand insects devouring the body, fighting poison with poison, through a thousand hammers and a hundred beatings, forging a Myriad Poisons Body."
"Not only can the Myriad Poisons Body control ten thousand poisons, but it also possesses an adamantine physique and unmatched close combat. Those Buddhist School physical-cultivation Arhats are entirely unafraid of them."
"Back then, I was already invincible in the same realm, yet those three Gu Masters in the same realm who possessed the Myriad Poisons Body were actually able to contend with me. You can see that the Myriad Poisons Body is out of the ordinary."
The United States, headquarters of the Superpower Organization.
The upper echelons rarely called an emergency meeting. The meeting mandated that all high-ranking officials at headquarters must attend in person, and those not at headquarters had to join via video link, with no absences allowed.
The leader of the organization was a kind old man with white hair and a beard, his white mustache covering his mouth. He wore a lab coat with an identification tag hanging on his chest, looking just like a common laboratory director at a university.
His codename was Professor.
There were eight seats around the meeting table. Aside from the Professor's seat, the other seven positions were assigned to the seven "Kings" of the organization, collectively known as the Seven Kings. These individuals wielded the organization's power and were absolute monarchs.
Upon closer inspection, one would find that most of the Seven Kings were Huaxia people with black hair and dark eyes, while native-born members actually occupied a minority.
In truth, the Superpower Organization was originally a Huaxia organization. Because of this, the organization understood all too well what Huaxia was like: Cultivators, the Monster Race, Vengeful Ghosts... simply a group of monsters and demons with a history of over a thousand years.
Although the Superpower Organization was a fledgling force, when it came to combat strength, the organization feared no cultivation sect, including top sects like Kunlun Mountain, Dragon-Tiger Mountain, and the True Martial Hall.
However, cultivation sects were never isolated entities; the sects often shared close ties and would join hands to suppress the organization.
Coupled with the fact that if the organization wanted to research superpowers, it could not avoid conducting experiments that violated the laws of nature and human ethics.
Not to mention the numerous enemies they had made in their early years.
Under the weight of various reasons, the organization decided to simply move out of Huaxia and come to develop on the far side of the ocean.
Facts proved that coming to develop on the far side of the ocean was an extremely correct choice. Although there were quite a few strange people over here as well, the competitive pressure was noticeably weaker than in Huaxia.
Over the years, the organization had developed swimmingly in the United States. Although the defection five years ago had caused a setback in its development, its overall strength could be described as advancing by leaps and bounds compared to when it was in Huaxia.
The Seven Kings guessed among themselves what the Professor had called everyone together to do.
Finally, the Professor unveiled the answer, and the words he spoke shocked everyone.
"You should all still remember that ten years ago, the organization accidentally obtained a piece of Ancient Script suspected of being related to Humanity's Supreme Treasure. Mind Masters and Mighty Warriors deciphered it day and night, and now the Ancient Script has finally been decoded."
The Seven Kings stirred. Although they had long since forgotten who the Mind Masters and Mighty Warriors were, they knew about Humanity's Supreme Treasure.
One of them couldn't help asking, "The whereabouts of Humanity's Supreme Treasure have been found?!"
The Professor nodded.
The Seven Kings exploded into an uproar. Humanity's Supreme Treasure had finally been found.
No wonder the Professor had called an emergency meeting.
That was a legendary treasure, possessing the power to govern the universe and transform heaven and earth. Having gone missing for a thousand years without a trace, was it finally going to see the light of day once more?
With the organization's current strength, coupled with Humanity's Supreme Treasure, who could possibly oppose them? Even those top sects would have to weigh whether they could afford to provoke them upon seeing them!
"Send me, I guarantee I can bring the treasure back!" One King spoke up first, seizing the initiative in hopes of being the first to see the treasure.
How could such a good thing have no competitors? Immediately afterward, another person sneered in opposition, "Your body is frail; getting close to a physical cultivator means death. You'd better leave it to me."
"What did you say!" The first speaker glared fiercely at the other, who remained completely unfearful.
"Stop arguing, all you're good for is close combat. You can't even fly-when cultivators attack you from the sky, you can only jump high to reach them. It's humiliating just to talk about it."
"What's so great about being able to fly? Birds can fly too, don't I still roast and eat them?"
The Seven Kings vied and competed, refusing to yield to one another, until the Professor spoke up to stop them.
"The treasure is not so easy to take. The Ancient Script also states that the treasure is guarded by a Ghost King named Zhenyue. I have already sent people to scour ancient books, but so far no records regarding the Ghost King Zhenyue have been found."
"According to the investigations of the Mind Masters and Mighty Warriors, that Ghost King Zhenyue is also among the elite of Ghost Kings. The host possessed by the Ghost King has acquired the abilities of a ghost-a situation that has never occurred before."
The Seven Kings abruptly stopped bickering and cast a uniform gaze upon a burly man whose codename was Soul King.
The Soul King's esper ability was soul-拘 (detention). Among the Seven Kings, he was undoubtedly the most suited to deal with the Ghost King Zhenyue.
"Just a ghost, and it dares call itself a king," the Soul King chuckled disdainfully. He hadn't expected such a good thing to fall into his lap; he was the nemesis of all ghost kinds. Whatever Ghost King Zhenyue it was, when all was said and done, it was nothing more than a ghost.
Speaking of ghost kings, he was the one most suited to be called a Ghost King.
"The sooner the treasure is retrieved, the better, so as to avoid prolonged nights and dreams. Soul King, pack your things and get ready for the airport."
"Understood."
Two old men walked out of Washington Airport, empty-handed and carrying no luggage. One of the old men expressed his sentiments in pure Chinese.
"We're finally back in the country."
The two old men were naturally Perfected Lord Wenchang and his good friend Dongyunzi.
Dongyunzi figured that since he was seeing new things no matter where he was, he might as well follow Perfected Lord Wenchang out to experience foreign sights.
Dongyunzi covered his face, feeling that he shouldn't have followed him out.
Fortunately, very few people could understand Chinese.
The two old men were not in a hurry to find a place to settle down; instead, they pointed and gestured at the street scenery.
"There are actually so many Kunlun Slaves on the street. The environment really has improved; back in my day, they were all locked up in manors."
"This thing called an airplane is truly not bad. It can fly in the sky even without Spiritual Power."
"Emperor Zhuanxu's rule establishing the Immortal-Mortal Divide makes sense. How long has it been since we went into seclusion, and mortals are actually able to build such a prosperous society."
"I hear there's something called the Internet nowadays that young cultivators are quite fond of."
"These buildings nowadays are really tall, completely different from our time. I reckon they must be a thousand feet high."
"You'd have to strike seriously to knock a building down in one blow."
"I don't need to be serious either."
"Then I can do it too."
A six-foot-three burly man walked aggressively down the road, his T-shirt worn so tight it looked like compression clothing. His muscles bulged, and pedestrians who saw him consciously knew they couldn't afford to cross him, hurriedly stepping aside to proactively yield a path.
The burly man brushed past the two old men, and Perfected Lord Wenchang was bumped into.
Perfected Lord Wenchang frowned in displeasure. The other man had black hair and dark eyes and looked like a Huaxia person; how could he be so lacking in manners, failing to even offer an apology after bumping into someone?
Whatever, it was rare to return to his old homeland to seek the Literary Dao, so he wouldn't bicker with him.
The Soul King considered himself superior, lording it over others within the organization. His abilities were useful not only against ghosts, but also against the souls of the living-whoever saw him wasn't trembling with fear?
Not to mention that he was a major contributor about to retrieve the treasure. Being looked at with that kind of gaze by an old man made him extremely unhappy.
"Old man, what are you staring at!"
