Background / History
Su Tingxue entered Dragon-Tiger Mountain after attending a childhood summer camp and became a disciple of Perfected Person Mu Yu. Unlike Duan Yuxian, who cultivated from childhood within the True Martial Hall, Su joined her sect later. She nevertheless became Dragon-Tiger Mountain’s youngest registered Celestial Master 7 12 35 51.
Two years before her first appearance, she confronted Nuomi in the school’s old dormitory and threw glutinous rice at her. Nuomi defeated her, leaving a lasting psychological burden. Su avoided returning to the dormitory throughout the following two years, repeatedly postponing a rematch 6.
Alongside her schooling, Su regularly accepts supernatural assignments and takes leave to subdue demons and ghosts. Her frequent departures make her familiar to the school gatekeeper. She normally travels by bicycle, although her home is a detached villa inside a residential district with strict security 9 21.
Appearance
Su is known throughout No. 2 Middle School for her beauty and grades; even classmates who have known her for two years still turn to look at her 6.
- Bearing: Holds her head high and projects an aloof, unapproachable presence 6.
- Expression and voice: Usually wears a cool expression and speaks with restrained authority 6.
- Hands: Described as having slender, pale fingers 12.
- Embarrassment: Her normally frosty face reddens to her ears when she realizes classmates have mistaken her ghost confrontation for a romantic dispute 6.
Personality
Su is proud, disciplined, and competitive. She tries to maintain the composure of an experienced senior cultivator, even when she has no practical experience with a task such as secretly following someone. Nuomi’s provocations are particularly effective at upsetting that composure 20 76 99.
Her repeated defeats do not end her determination to improve. She strengthens her Yang Fire, continuously trains her Mind’s Eye, acquires better talismans, and returns for further matches. After another loss to Nuomi, she accepts the defeat as only one setback rather than a reason to stop 34 99.
Despite her cold exterior, Su is generous and considerate. She quietly supplements Zhou You’s bounty payment with two of her own Spirit Jades, shares another information reward with him, and refuses to disclose his private spell to Duan Yuxian. When he entrusts her with a ghost while visibly troubled, she agrees to help without prying 29 54 58 94.
Abilities & Skills
Yin-Yang Heavenly Eye
A closely guarded Dragon-Tiger Mountain technique that allows Su to perceive ghosts while still at Qi Refining, when ordinary cultivators of that realm cannot see them 6.
- Initial limitation: Sight-Obscuring Ghosts can block the unevolved technique, forcing her to seek another ghost-seeing cultivator’s assistance 9 10.
- Mind’s Eye: Her breakthrough frees her perception from dependence on physical sight and allows her to deal with Sight-Obscuring Ghosts herself 20 25.
- Immediate foresight: Its second awakening reveals how events will change in the next instant, allowing her to predict movements and place attacks in an opponent’s path 34 80.
- Rarity: Duan Yuxian describes a second evolution as rare even at Dragon-Tiger Mountain and ordinarily associated with Foundation Establishment or higher 64.
- Limits: Foresight does not guarantee that Su can react quickly enough. When Duan begins advancing to Foundation Establishment, Su can predict her movements but cannot keep pace 80.
- Detection failure: The technique reveals no supernatural presence during the initial investigation of Ji Sen’s inexplicably disturbed apartment 37.
Talisman Arts
Su uses Dragon-Tiger Mountain’s talisman techniques for scouting, sealing, restraint, and elemental attacks 20 28 79.
- Paper animation: Turns a folded paper airplane into a directed messenger and animates a small paper figure for reconnaissance 9 20.
- Shared vision: Links herself and Zhou You to the paper scout’s viewpoint through an incantation and a touch between his eyebrows 20.
- Binding Talisman: Briefly immobilizes Nuomi by placing the talisman where her foresight predicts Nuomi will move 34.
- Sealing: Supplies ghost-sealing talismans. Without the accompanying incantation, they work only on very weak ghosts and require substantial weakening first 28.
- Elemental barrage: Uses Thunderlight, Yin Fire, Water Sword, and Wind Blade talismans, combining different attacks for additional variations 79.
- Exceptional control: Her Blazing Prairie Fire Talisman produces dozens of watermelon-sized fireballs—well beyond the number ordinary Qi Refining cultivators can control 79.
- Midair inscription: Draws talismans without relying on prepared paper, including a Heavenly Thunder Talisman used against Duan Yuxian 80.
- Battlefield traps: Combines direct attacks with explosive and Compressed Water talismans to punish predictable movement 80.
Life-Bound Yang Fire and Yang Thunder
Su’s Life-Bound Yang Fire is a ghost-countering technique. Before a rematch with Nuomi, she nourishes it with Spirit Stones to make it burn hotter 7 34.
- Yang Fire limitation: Nuomi repeatedly evades it; stronger flames alone do not secure a victory 7 34.
- Yang Thunder: After consolidating Foundation Establishment, Su deploys powerful lightning alongside aerial talismans and her Heavenly Eye 99.
- Six-Thunder Cage: Uses foresight to anticipate Nuomi dodging six bolts, then keeps those bolts primed to form a cage. Its combined power increases severalfold and threatens even veteran Foundation Establishment cultivators 100.
Heavenly Stem Eight Trigrams Steps
A Dragon-Tiger Mountain footwork technique used to build spiritual momentum and suppress evil spirits 6.
- Su measures each step while approaching Zhou You and Nuomi, bringing her aura to its peak before confronting them 6.
Physical and Spiritual Cultivation
- Qi Refining strength: Can open a sealed water bottle with one hand, the cultivation world’s practical benchmark for entering Qi Refining 10.
- Agility: Easily vaults the school wall with Zhou You despite neither having experience climbing walls 20.
- Divine sense: At Foundation Establishment, scans her surroundings to ensure classmates are not watching a discreet exchange with Zhou You 102.
- Helping ghosts pass on: Accepts a sealed ghost from Zhou You and plans to help it pass on during the Ghost Festival 94.

Relationships
- Perfected Person Mu Yu — Her master at Dragon-Tiger Mountain 7.
- Zhou You — Schoolmate, ghost-hunting partner, and friend whom she guides through cultivation customs, resources, and the Cultivation Forum. His relayed advice enables her eye breakthrough; she later challenges Duan Yuxian partly to stop harassment directed at him. Their supposed romance originates in classmates’ misunderstandings, not an established relationship 6 12 20 29 77 80.
- Nuomi — Long-standing rival who remembers Su’s glutinous-rice attack. Su loses their original encounter and two subsequent matches, then challenges her again after reaching Foundation Establishment 6 7 34 99.
- Chu Xiaoyao — Initially an unfamiliar fellow student. After Chu’s advice transforms her Heavenly Eye, Su suspects she has an extraordinary background and joins an investigation without payment to observe her in action 7 20 36.
- Duan Yuxian — Old friend and cultivation rival. Their friendship includes gaming and teasing, while their spell duel pushes both toward Foundation Establishment 55 76 80.
- Zhao Cancan — Best friend and Class One schoolmate; informs Su about the rumors arising from her encounter with Zhou You 8 9.
- Perfected Lord Wenchang — Su explains his circumstances to Zhou You and later delivers his gift, the Ming King Body-Refining Art 12 21.
- Wang Chong — Jealous admirer whose belief that Su and Zhou You are involved leads him to hire students to attack Zhou. Su helps expose the scheme 20 21.
