The mountain's shadow seemed to be frozen in place, an invisible aura of immense pressure permeating the entire space. Beyond the heavy atmosphere, an endless expanse of nine-colored mist drifted like wind, blooming like lamps with flashes of color. Golden runes, large and small, flickered throughout the space. The larger runes were as vast as stars, their power capable of destroying galaxies, while the smaller ones were as tiny as insects, their weak presence like a candle flame in the wind. However, whether powerful or weak, upon contact with the mountain-like light, they shattered. As they broke apart, the golden runes revealed their strokes, each one a different form of the character "Dao"! It was peculiar; every time light shattered, a "Dao" character would appear, each unique. Not to mention those from ancient times, but even in the span of a single finger snap, countless "Dao" characters appeared and filled this space!
The profundity here did not end. As the "Dao" characters revealed themselves, their strokes transformed into chaos, with black and white appearing within it. Soon, a point of light emerged between the black and white. As the two colors merged, a myriad of colors bloomed. Finally, whether it be fish and insects, mountains and rivers, or people, all transformed within this nine-colored spectacle, like a Minor World. And once the nine-colored Minor World was complete, with a "snap," everything dissolved back into a wisp of nine-colored mist.
Endless transformations, endless cycles, endless creations played out throughout the space. If these were movement, then the mountain's shadow was stillness! The nine-colored radiance occasionally illuminated the mountain's shadow. The shadow revealed a silvery-white hue, etched with layers of tadpole-shaped runes. Upon closer inspection, these runes resembled names, but they flickered in and out of existence, their silvery-white color uneven, making them unclear. Yet, when viewed indistinctly, all the runes converged, appearing as a single, sky-piercing "Dao" character!
As for the wave of light, it fell into the mountain's shadow like a weary bird returning to its nest. A strange tadpole rune immediately formed. However, as soon as this rune appeared, an extremely dim, dark green light emerged from deep within the mountain's shadow, piercing the rune.
"Crack..." The silvery-white rune shattered, both the silvery-white and dark green disappearing. As the colorless rune merged into the mountain's shadow, a bolt of nine-colored lightning surged forth from that spot. The lightning did not travel far, "crackling" as it struck the mountain's shadow. In an instant, a deep crack appeared on the mountain's shadow!
"Whoosh..." As the lightning vanished, another strange sound arose. In one part of the space, a fist-sized vortex appeared, with earth, fire, wind, and thunder pouring in like a torrent. A silver humanoid figure arrived, treading on the earth, fire, wind, and thunder. As the figure landed, its silver form vanished, revealing a Boy. The Boy's eyes fell upon the crack in the mountain's shadow, and he was instantly struck with terror. He exclaimed, "Mount Moban... is cracked? This... how is this possible? My heavens, my masters entrusted me with guarding Mount Moban, how... how could such a disaster occur?"
After speaking, the Boy, without even looking at other places, turned and hurried away.
A moment after the Boy left, in two other locations in the space, light flashed almost simultaneously, tearing through the void. Two golden humanoid figures, each ten thousand feet tall, flew in. The gold of these figures differed from the Boy's silver light; not only did it not disappear, but it shone even brighter, like flames, like ten thousand bolts of lightning.
The two landed before Mount Moban. First, four beams of light flashed from the crack, followed by two waves of Emanated Thought, as imposing as mountains, sweeping over the area. Then, the two remained silent.
"Senior Brother..." the left humanoid figure's voice, like thunder, resounded, "What do you think?"
"For the Universe-Shaking Bright Stone to undergo such a change, there can only be two possibilities..." the right humanoid figure's voice echoed throughout the space, countless "Dao" characters shattering. "One is that Heavenly Secrets that affect the foundation of our Immortal Realm have emerged, disrupting the rules of the Universe-Shaking Bright Stone. The second is that the Destiny of disciples listed on the Immortal Roster is unusual, and the Universe-Shaking Bright Stone cannot engrave their names. As for which it is, we must wait for Senior Disciple Brother to return, and then the three of us will deduce it together!"
"Is it that complicated?" the left humanoid figure seemed to frown slightly, asking in confusion, "I observe traces of broken runes around this crack, suggesting an issue during name engraving. If it's just the Destiny of a certain advancing disciple, couldn't the Heavenly Venerates of each Immortal Domain investigate thoroughly and report back to us?"
"Since our Immortal Realm was established, how many times have there been unusual Destinies?"
"It seems to have been twice..." the left humanoid figure chuckled. "Especially the first time, although generations have passed, the incident caused quite a stir. I remember it vividly. Senior Disciple Brother personally intervened and watched her for a long time. As a result, she is now a Heavenly Venerate, and I haven't seen anything unusual. Oh, and the other one? It seems Senior Disciple Brother never mentioned it."
As he spoke, the left humanoid figure raised a hand, his massive golden finger tapping the mountain's shadow. The runes on the shadow immediately began to glow, flowing like turning pages. After a moment, a rune appeared. Then, from the right humanoid figure's side, a golden light descended and struck the rune. The rune flickered a few times, transforming into a name. The right humanoid figure chuckled, "It truly is her! And the other one?"
"Heh heh..." the left humanoid figure chuckled. "To be honest, Senior Brother, I've forgotten that person's name. I'll ask Senior Disciple Brother later."
"I understand..." the right humanoid figure retracted his golden light. The name shattered, reverting to runes that settled back into the mountain's shadow. He then mused, "Junior Brother, I believe that while each person's Destiny may be unusual, it only causes fluctuations in the Immortal Realm's rules, not enough to affect its foundation?"
"Indeed!" the left humanoid figure chuckled. "And what is your opinion, Senior Brother?"
"I believe that although the matter is small, it cannot be underestimated. Although the cause is lowly, it cannot be ignored. We should still have someone investigate thoroughly!" the right humanoid figure replied calmly. "As for whether it is a major issue, we must wait for Senior Disciple Brother to return, and then we will deduce it together. However, Junior Brother, I have had frequent premonitions recently, always feeling that something unusual will happen. What about you?"
Unfortunately, the left humanoid figure did not answer the question. He merely waved his sleeve and said, "I knew it, my thoughts are always different from yours. Since you think it needs a thorough investigation, then let it be. I will immediately have someone issue an edict..."
"Junior Brother, don't rush..." Seeing the left humanoid figure's displeasure, the right humanoid figure quickly said, "Senior Disciple Brother has been gone for a long time, I think..."
The left humanoid figure interrupted him unceremoniously, saying coldly, "What you think is not important. What is important is that you inform me when you have news of Senior Disciple Brother! Or, you can deduce the result and inform me."
After speaking, the left humanoid figure drew a line with one hand, and golden light flashed, creating a spatial rift. The left humanoid figure flickered and plunged into it, disappearing. Watching the spatial rift rapidly close, the right humanoid figure gave a wry smile. "Alas, Junior Brother's temper hasn't changed in how many Eons. Will he only understand after the Great Tribulation?"
The right humanoid figure did not leave in a hurry. He stood in the void, staring at the crack on the Universe-Shaking Bright Stone. After an unknown amount of time, his form blurred, first slowly transforming into a giant golden "Dao" character, then splitting into two, then two into four. Numerous "Dao" characters of different styles surged forth. As these "Dao" characters scattered, some illusions appeared like flowing light. But in the end, suddenly, all the "Dao" characters were annihilated, and the golden humanoid figure coalesced from the mist.
"Could it be?" the humanoid figure's tone carried an inexplicable surprise. However, he only uttered two words before hesitating again. "No way? How is that possible?? Alas, Dao gives birth to One, One gives birth to Two, Two gives birth to Three, Three gives birth to all things. Although the saying is clear, actually doing it is difficult! This matter still requires Senior Disciple Brother's judgment..."
After speaking, the golden humanoid figure tore through space and left, leaving only the crack on the Universe-Shaking Bright Stone.
At the same time, with a "swoosh," another wave of light appeared out of thin air and rushed into the mountain's shadow. A silvery-white tadpole rune immediately formed. With a "snap," the silvery-white rune shattered, transforming into a name. As the name was engraved on the mountain's shadow, the fragments of the shattered silvery-white rune coalesced, forming a silver-white bead the size of a bean, which flew towards the direction the wave of light had come from...
As soon as the silver-white bead left, the Boy reappeared. He dared not approach, only looking from afar at the newly formed name. He smiled broadly and said, "Another person has been listed on the Immortal Roster. Our Immortal Realm's destiny is prosperous, and my masters will surely not blame me anymore."
Inside the damaged Reception Hall, the unlucky Guiding Emissary collected the Xingtian Immortal Artifact and the flag. He looked around, ensuring nothing was missed, before stepping out of the bronze palace. Just as he was about to leave, he stopped, tapped his chin, and thought, "This trip was not smooth. I fear I cannot report back to the Hall Master in time. If I could find this fellow and capture him, it would also be too late. It's a pity this fellow is so alert; he even saw through my disguise as Xu Zhi. I couldn't even trick his name out of him, so I can't send any message to the Hall Master. Alas, the only course of action now is to send a message to Senior Disciple Sister, hoping she can put in a good word for me when the Hall Master thinks of me, and show some leniency."
After speaking, the Guiding Emissary turned to another side hall within the palace. This side hall also contained a bluestone formation. The Guiding Emissary's gaze swept over the bluestones covered in runes, and he said with a wry smile, "This place is remote, I didn't expect such a change. The Space Origin Crystals I brought are only enough to return to the Mingdao Continent. Now, sending a message will consume some more, and I even have trouble returning! Alas, why is my fate so bitter?"
