Background

Xu Zhi originated from Earth and entered the Immortal Realm through the selection known as Earth’s Sole Cultivator, rather than ordinary ascension. Such entrants are described as initially weak and commonly entering lower star domains to build their strength before reaching the Immortal Realm proper. 17 24

Before his connection with Xiao Hua became central, Xu Zhi used the name Du Shanjun in Bronze Pillar Kingdom. Under that identity, he passed on the Immortal Realm’s Crimson Infant Technique, the Might of Thunder technique, and a more complete version of the Dutian Star Array to Xiao Hua. 10

Before the opening of the Star Moon Palace, Xu Zhi also entrusted Xiao Hua with the inheritance of Qingqiu Mountain’s Nine-Tailed Fox. Xiao Hua later opened the inheritance in the Shenhua Continent, keeping it largely unknown to outsiders. 9 10

Xu Zhi, Xiao Hua, and Star Moon Fairy subsequently discovered the ancient Ye Qiong Heavenly Mansion within the Star Moon Palace. Xu Zhi is characterized as cautious, rigorous, selfless, and just. Xiao Hua identifies an impostor precisely because the real Xu Zhi would not allow personal concern to interfere with his official duties, even in a life-or-death situation. 10 29
