Exiled Immortal Major Reveal 2: What Would Happen If You Skipped the First Two Parts and Read the Third, Immortal Realm, Directly? (Heavenly Dao Xiao Hua)

Exiled Immortal was a serialized cultivation epic with a grand framework and a complex cultivation system. Because of Qidian's format, the first part of the book, "Forgetting Each Other in the Jianghu"; the first volume of the second part, "Light Escape: Xiaoyu Continent"; and the second volume of the second part, "Light Escape: Four Great Continents"—three sections totaling sixteen million characters, written over seven years—were placed on the same shelf. With more than five thousand volumes of content, many readers stopped in their tracks and did not dare jump into the pit. Of course, many new readers had also asked in the review section: Would it matter if they skipped the first sixteen million characters and went straight to the third part? Or were those first sixteen million characters worth reading? This article would broadly cover both questions.

I. A Brief Summary of Exiled Immortal

Exiled Immortal was a serial novel divided into four parts, estimated to total around thirty million characters upon completion.

The first part, "Forgetting Each Other in the Jianghu," was a wuxia story about the protagonist Zhang Xiao Hua—Xiao Hua, True Person Xiao of the second part—entering the Dao through martial arts in the mortal world and finding the proof of his own godhood.

The first volume of the second part, "Light Escape: Xiaoyu Continent," told of Xiao Hua crossing worlds to Xiaoyu Continent, arriving in the forsaken land of Dao cultivators, and cultivating to the early Golden Core stage. The Feathered Immortal Convention and the Sword Dao Grand Formation within it were climaxes among climaxes in the book. One additional note: Xiao Hua cultivated the upper dantian in the first volume, while he cultivated the middle dantian in the second part.

The second volume of the second part, "Light Escape: Four Great Continents," told of Xiao Hua becoming the supreme figure of the human race in the Three Great Continents, Moon God Ruins, Ruins of Shenzhou, and Myriad Monster Realm; leading the iron army of the Gate of Creation to slay demons; opening heaven and educating all beings; and saving the world. Xiao Hua's battle against Bei Xian'er, the Gate of Creation's cleansing of the Xuanhuang Ranking, the opportunity at Star Moon Palace, ascension tribulation, and more were all climaxes among climaxes in the book.

The third part, "Immortal Realm," told of Xiao Hua's sevenfold soul tempering. The space behind his head rose through the Spirit World, Immortal Realm, Dragon Domain, Demon Marsh, Monster Alliance, Buddha Kingdom, Heavenly Court, Netherworld, and many other higher realms on par with the Immortal Realm. The Immortal Realm was merely the starting point of Xiao Hua's path to godhood, and it had only just launched on Qidian.

The fourth part, "Primordial Divine Realm," had already been foreshadowed extensively throughout the first three parts, but had not yet been written.

II. What If You Skipped the First Part and Read the Second Directly?

The second part began with "A Small Sect with Three and a Half Disciples." It was the story of Xiao Hua cultivating from the first level of Qi Refining to the early Golden Core stage in the foreign world of Xiaoyu Continent, and it was also an entirely new story. Whether or not you read the first part would make no difference.

However, if you read the first part before reading the second, be sure to read Exiled Immortal Extra Chapters after finishing "A Visitor from Beyond Heaven" in the first part. The extra chapters told how a space formed behind Zhang Xiao Hua's head after he was teleported away; how the Panruo Heavy Sword, Little Yellow, and Little Black were lost; and how Xiao Hua, in Demon Subduing Valley on Xiaoyu Continent, suffered memory loss after a soul search because of his Demigod Body and was renamed Xiao Hua by his master. Without reading these, you would think the protagonist had changed between the first and second volumes.

III. What If You Skipped the First Two Parts and Read Immortal Realm Directly?

Skipping the first two parts and going straight to Immortal Realm would not actually have much impact. Immortal Realm was also a brand-new story. At most, you might feel a little confused when a name suddenly appeared, because that name had appeared in the first two parts.

IV. What Would You Miss If You Skipped the First Two Parts?

1. If you did not read the first part, you would not understand Zhang Xiao Hua's stone bracelet; you would not understand how the stone bracelet drew starlight from beyond the realm bearing the power of life; you would not understand how Zhang Xiao Hua obtained Primordial Violet Qi in Mount Yao Immortal Mansion, or the Heavenly Phoenix Body Sculpting inside the Demon Refining Pot. Then, when reading Light Escape in the second part, you would not understand why Xiao Hua turned his entire body into one hundred and thirty-two million tiny points during Light Escape; nor would you understand why, after passing through three great immortal formations beneath the sea, his lifespan limit surpassed even that of a Nascent Soul cultivator; still less would you understand why there was a space behind Xiao Hua's head that expanded without limit as his cultivation rose, eventually becoming the Great World of Living Beings.

2. If you did not read the second part, you would not understand the great powers of the Immortal Realm or the background of the Great Star Domain Investiture of Gods. You would not understand why Xiao Hua found himself in his hometown from hundreds of millions of years ago, nor would you understand the birth of Xiao Hua's crystalline godhead and the greatest opportunity he had obtained since beginning cultivation at Star Moon Palace. You might also not understand why Xiao Hua was hunted down after ascending to the Immortal Realm, left with only a stripped-bare Nascent Soul.
