Item description: This sword appeared to be made of iron. Its blade was long and slender, measuring roughly three feet nine inches in length and three fingers in width. There was no guard where the hilt met the blade, only a slight protrusion to either side, with shallow curves nearby that dipped inward toward the cutting edges. The blade was flat, its edges dull, evidently never sharpened. The entire sword was grayish-black, with a decidedly simple, ancient design.

This sword seemed to possess spiritual awareness and excel at changing its appearance. When concealed, its color resembled worn leather; when revealed, its gleam was like autumn waters. Between concealment and revelation, it seemed to understand the principles of artfulness and simplicity, brightness and obscurity-from this, one might surmise that it served more than merely the purposes of a blunt spine and a keen edge.

Item origin: While Xing Yan was playing his flute on Horseshoe Mountain, wind and thunder suddenly erupted, and beasts of every kind gathered around him. A white rock at the summit happened to be struck by lightning and reduced to powder, allowing this sword to emerge from within the stone and trip the panic-stricken Xing Yan. Later, he casually picked it up and used it as a walking stick on his way down the mountain.
