Kakashi called out, dazed.
Gua turned to look at Kakashi.
There was little surprise on his face, as though he had known all along that Kakashi would follow him.
He nodded at Kakashi.
"Thank you."
Kakashi had no idea what Gua was thanking him for. He hadn't done anything.
Kakashi took a deep breath, settling his rattled nerves.
For a moment, he had thought something had happened to Gua, only for Gua to decisively turn the tables and kill that Root operative. Everything had happened so fast that Kakashi's emotions had been on a roller coaster.
Genius or not, he was still only fourteen.
He wasn't nearly as calm as he looked.
"You killed him?"
Once he had calmed down, that was the first thing Kakashi asked Gua.
Gua looked at the thoroughly dead Root operative, then at Kakashi.
Was it that hard to tell?
Surely not?
"Yeah."
Gua answered offhandedly, then turned his attention to the other Root operative locked in a fierce fight with Kabuto.
Kakashi seemed to realize what Gua intended to do. He was about to speak, but Gua beat him to it.
"There's another one in the tree. Go stop him."
Kakashi was speechless.
The Root operative in the tree was still reeling from the shock of Gua killing that Special Jōnin when he heard Gua say, "There's another one in the tree."
