The two halves of the broken blade flew off to either side before Gua's eyes.
Gua admitted that it had startled him.
After all, if a grotesque face suddenly lunged right into your face, you would flinch too.
Gua was still human, after all. Everything had been fine, then suddenly, another surge of force came through his opponent's blade, and he foresaw his own blade breaking.
It happened the instant Gua activated his Sharingan.
The future he foresaw was the blade flying apart.
He had thought the blade was about to stab him in the eyeballs.
But Gua quickly realized that wasn't the case. The broken blade was only flying off to either side.
Itachi's strange blade was still coming down.
Gua immediately struck with his full strength. He moved several times faster than Itachi's descending slash, and in an instant, his foot was planted squarely against Itachi's chest.
Thud!
After that dull impact, Itachi went flying with his sword.
He crashed heavily to the ground dozens of meters away and lay there.
For a long while, Itachi didn't get up.
His mind was a little dazed.
Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to be doing?
Holy shit!
Just now... I was showing Gua that awesome slash. How did I suddenly end up flying?
He was certain Gua's blade had broken.
But almost the instant Gua's blade broke-no, the two things had happened almost simultaneously-Gua had kicked him flying.
"Gulp..."
Itachi couldn't help swallowing.
Lying on the ground, he looked at Gua from afar. Gua stood there as calmly as could be, then started walking toward him.
Itachi grimaced and climbed to his feet.
A monster!
Gua was a complete monster!
That wasn't human at all, okay?
"You all right?"
Gua had already reached Itachi's side
