Seeing Sasuke standing before him, overjoyed and completely off guard, Naruto opened his mouth. In the end, he swallowed all the doubts, worries, and inconsistencies he had been about to voice and said nothing more.
He could tell that Orochimaru had not lied, but his unusually strange attitude, his deliberate buildup, and his obsession with keeping Sarada alive all felt unsettling.
But Sasuke's emotions were in turmoil now, his mind consumed by his older brother's orphaned child. Saying more would accomplish nothing except adding to his troubles, so Naruto could only suppress his doubts for now and quietly keep them in mind.
Still, Naruto said with a slightly awkward expression, "We really did screw Sarada over, though. I feel bad about using her as a weapon. Haha."
Sasuke's expression turned odd as well. Then he asked in confusion, "Sarada was under so much pressure. Why didn't she tell us who she was? Surely Kisame would have told her about her origins."
Naruto froze at that, then looked at Sasuke.
Sasuke frowned under his gaze. "What's with that look? It's a little weird."
"No, nothing." Naruto shook his head. "I just think Sarada really is an Uchiha."
Sasuke looked puzzled.
Naruto shook his head and said, "You're all stubborn as hell and ridiculously hardheaded. None of you will change until someone knocks some sense into you."
This time, Sasuke understood, and his face instantly darkened.
