Chapter Summaries

The Convoy attacked the Sequence Seven Anomalies as the Netherworld Light charged toward Graveyard Hill. Zhuo Wu, Zhu Qing, An Xi, Qingqing, and Chu Sheng each engaged enemies, but several Anomalies remained as Chu Sheng advanced toward the final three.

• Zhuo Wu left the Netherworld Light and used his Great Sage Body and Golden Cudgel to knock a Golden Armored Zombie away, then pursued it to keep it occupied.
• An Xi, Chu Sheng, and Zhu Qing attacked three Sequence Seven Anomalies together; Zhu Qing struck the doll Anomaly while the Netherworld Light fired a laser and An Xi launched her Geng Metal Spear.
• Zhu Qing fought off another Anomaly, but insects from a Sequence Seven Anomaly crawled into his body as he tried to hold down Unyielding Destruction.
• An Xi transformed into a White Tiger Lord and attacked the badly wounded doll Anomaly, while Qingqing transformed into an Azure Dragon and tried to hold off a centipede-like Anomaly.
• Chu Sheng fired arrows at three more Sequence Seven Anomalies, then charged toward them with his Dark-Gold Battle Armor and saber as golden-red and black flames appeared in his eyes.

Chu Sheng unleashed the Eternal Black Flame across Graveyard Hill, burning most of the weaker Anomalies and charging toward the stronger ones. After restoring his mental power with Dandelions and Healing Leaves, he fought through the flames while Zhuo Wu and An Xi continued battling their own opponents.

• Chu Sheng's Eternal Vertical Eye released the Eternal Black Flame, engulfing the Anomalies and Graveyard Hill to delay the sequence six Anomaly's arrival.
• Chu Sheng collapsed after exhausting his mental power, then used a Dandelion and Healing Leaves to recover and prepare more leaves for later.
• Chu Sheng entered the sea of black flame and killed a sequence eight Anomaly after using Mind Reading and Craftsmanship to make the Anomalies mistake him for one of their own.

An Xi and Qingqing destroyed several Sequence Seven Anomalies and joined Zhuo Wu against the Golden Armored Zombie, while their allies watched anxiously outside the Village. The fight continued as a Sequence Six Anomaly threatened Chu Sheng and the others, and Fang Hong, Xingzi, and A Xin refused to move farther away.

• An Xi used her Dandelion and geng metal power to destroy the Doll Anomaly, then rushed to help Qingqing against another Sequence Seven Anomaly.
• An Xi broke the second Anomaly's barrier, and Qingqing's Azure Beam combined with An Xi's lethal geng metal attack to blast it apart.
• An Xi's golden needles struck Zhu Qing and Qingqing, while Zhuo Wu called for help because the Great Sage's body could last only two more minutes.
• Zhuo Wu poured the Great Sage's body into the Golden Cudgel and knocked the Golden Armored Zombie toward An Xi, who attacked it alongside Qingqing without defeating it.
• Outside the Village, Captain Hui explained the Golden Armored Zombie's formidable defenses, while Fang Hong and Xingzi worried about Chu Sheng and the others.
• Old Man Li suggested that the group retreat ten kilometers from the Village, but Fang Hong, Xingzi, and A Xin refused to leave while their companions remained inside.

Captain Hui’s group stayed outside the Village, where Fang Hong learned that the place would rewrite everyone’s fate, while Chu Sheng and the others finished killing the lower-ranked anomalies. The Sequence Six anomaly continued forming, and the group’s attacks passed through it, leaving Chu Sheng despairing.

• Captain Hui persuaded Old Man Li’s group to stay near the Village, and A Xin hid their life energy within a five-kilometer radius.
• Captain Hui and Fang Hong divined that the Village’s apparent destruction was unreal and that the place would rewrite everyone’s fate; Fang Hong said the survivors’ fates seemed likely to improve.
• Inside the Village, Qingqing and An Xi helped Zhu Qing escape an anomaly in his body and killed the remaining anomalies with Chu Sheng, the Netherworld Mecha, and the Butcher.

Chu Sheng realized he might be able to fuse the unformed Sequence Six anomaly into a sacrificial item, but discovered that its true body encompassed everything within ten kilometers. He stopped when his intuition warned that attempting the fusion might merge him into it as well.

• Zhu Qing and An Xi failed to hit the phantom anomaly with their attacks, while Qingqing grew exhausted from maintaining her dragon form.
• Qingqing remarked that the enormous anomaly would make a great robot, and Chu Sheng realized he might be able to treat it as supernatural material.
• Chu Sheng reached through the anomaly and confirmed he could attempt to fuse it into a sacrificial item.
• Chu Sheng used white light to reveal that the anomaly's true body included the surrounding hills, the Village ruins, and everything else within ten kilometers.

Chu Sheng discovered that five tombstones bore his group’s names and that puppets buried beneath them were preventing him from safely fusing with the anomaly. After destroying the puppets and beginning the fusion again, he stopped when Youming offered to fuse with the Sequence Six anomaly, warning that it might disappear.

• Chu Sheng sensed that the Blood Moon accelerated his sequence growth but decided not to remain in the dangerous place, then investigated why fusing the anomaly might fuse his companions into it.
• Chu Sheng and An Xi found five enormous tombstones bearing their names and the Great Sage Equal to Heaven’s name, and Chu Sheng theorized they were causing the fusion danger.
• Zhu Qing uprooted the tombstones, revealing puppets buried beneath them, and Chu Sheng destroyed the puppets with Eternal Black Flame.
• Qingqing asked Chu Sheng for a physical examination and a robot in exchange for her puppet, prompting An Xi to tease him about rumors Fang Hong had spread.
• Chu Sheng spread white light across the anomaly and surrounding area to begin fusing it, but stopped when Youming offered to fuse with the anomaly and control it.

Chu Sheng fused Youming and the Sequence Six Anomaly into a flying island, which he presented as the Convoy’s new transportation. The island had no supernatural materials left, so Chu Sheng offered everyone permanent residency and asked Lu Guan for one piece of Sequence Seven supernatural material.

• Chu Sheng accepted Youming’s offer to serve as the base for fusing the Netherworld Mecha with the half-formed Sequence Six Anomaly.
• Chu Sheng used Eternal Black Flame to shape the fused mass of Black Qi and rubble into a vast circular island while the White Light covered the area for ten days.
• An Xi, Zhu Qing, and Qingqing reunited with Captain Hui and the Convoy while Chu Sheng remained inside the White Light.

• Chu Sheng assigned Wu Meng daily Mechanism Puppet production, future Sequence Nine puppet quotas, and the processing of supernatural materials, while promising to help Wu Jie awaken a Sequence within thirty years if she worked reliably.

• Wu Meng asked Cheng Xue to seek permission for her to cultivate Nether Soil, and Chu Sheng approved it at twenty percent rent as long as she did not interfere with other survivors’ farming.

• Captain Hui urged Old Man Li to disclose his Sequence Cost, and Old Man Li revealed that every plant and seed he cultivated would mutate into a hostile monster one Sequence rank below his when the Cost activated.
• Old Man Li explained that his mutated plants attacked anything entering their range, including rocks and Anomalies, but could not move.
• Chu Sheng said he could resolve Old Man Li’s Cost and proposed planting the mutated plants around the Floating Island as a defensive ring.

Chu Sheng turned Old Man Li’s plant-mutation Sequence cost into a defensive plan for the settlement and discovered that Spicy Liquor could be valuable. Far from the Floating Island, a feathered anomaly spread a disease among a mixed-species group, and Uncle Wang could only suppress the infection temporarily.

• Chu Sheng proposed planting Old Man Li’s unstable supernatural plants around the settlement as defenses and agreed to warn the survivors about the risks.
• Old Man Li shared Spicy Liquor with Chu Sheng and Captain Hui, and Chu Sheng recognized its potential as a trade good and a source of relief.
• Captain Hui and Chu Sheng bickered after Captain Hui called him a bastard, while Old Man Li enjoyed their company beneath the crimson moon.

Uncle Wang led survivors afflicted by the Blight while a Black-Feather Anomaly flew toward Chu Sheng’s Floating Island. Youming’s laser destroyed it, and as the survivors sought contact with the island, Chu Sheng asked A Xin to lower the barrier so Youming could absorb the Anomaly’s black qi and advance.

• Uncle Wang encouraged the Blight-stricken survivors and noticed the Black-Feather Anomaly flying away from them toward a distant Floating Island.
• Chu Sheng, Old Man Li, and Captain Hui spotted the approaching Anomaly, and Chu Sheng ordered Youming to shoot it down.
• Youming fired a laser that disintegrated the Anomaly and triggered eruptions from several volcanoes.
• Uncle Wang and the other Sequence Adepts watched the attack in shock, and Uncle Wang agreed to try contacting whoever had fired it.
• Chu Sheng realized the black qi outside the island belonged to an Anomaly and asked Youming to have A Xin lower the barrier so Youming could absorb it and advance to Sequence Six.

Youming absorbed the black qi from a sequence eight anomaly and began advancing on the Floating Island, waking its survivors. As the island’s strength drew the attention of a multiracial group below, Wang Shu contacted its residents, and Chu Sheng recognized an opportunity in the group of sequence eight adepts.

• A Xin opened the Floating Island’s barrier to let Youming draw in the black qi, then went to join Chu Sheng, Captain Hui, and Old Man Li.
• Youming absorbed the black qi into the nether soil, leaving two supernatural feathers, and began advancing as white light spread across the island.
• The island’s survivors woke in alarm, but Youming reassured them that its advancement posed no danger.

Chu Sheng and Captain Hui met Wang Shu’s group and offered to cure their Anomaly-induced blight while arranging for them to join the Floating Island. After learning that Wang Shu’s sequence was myriad aspects, they planned to plunder it, and Captain Hui revealed sequence plundering to the others.

• Chu Sheng recognized the nonhuman Sequence Adepts with Wang Shu and offered help through Xingzi, a healer, while Captain Hui warned Wang Shu that their group meant no harm to humans but was hostile to other races.
• Chu Sheng and Captain Hui invited Wang Shu to join them, and Wang Shu agreed before explaining his group’s situation and revealing his myriad aspects sequence.
• Youming completed his upgrade as Wang Shu returned to his group and told the nonhumans that the Floating Island’s healer would treat them in exchange for payment.
• Chu Sheng and Captain Hui decided against recruiting Wang Shu because they wanted his sequence, and Captain Hui explained sequence plundering to the group.
• An Xi realized that Chu Sheng and Captain Hui intended to plunder Wang Shu’s sequence and called them a pair of beasts.

Captain Hui and Chu Sheng considered plundering Wang Shu’s powerful Myriad aspects sequence, while An Xi warned them not to trust his claims. Chu Sheng inspected Youming’s upgraded abilities and saw the enlarged island beneath the Blood Moon, but its eerie light made the world look utterly changed.

• Captain Hui and Chu Sheng remained eager to plunder Wang Shu’s sequence, and Zhu Qing, Zhuo Wu, and the others were tempted as well.
• An Xi questioned whether Wang Shu had told the truth, but Chu Sheng argued that Wang Shu likely had no reason to lie and that the team would benefit either way.
• Chu Sheng checked Youming’s information and learned that the island had gained powerful abilities, including Nether Moon Tower and Nether Moon Guidance, along with rules that could kill anyone who broke them.

After Youming's upgrade, Chu Sheng was disappointed that its changes were modest, but the group soon prepared to seize Sequences from the people below. Chu Sheng rushed into the fight first, secretly knocking out Wang Shu as he pursued an anomaly.

• Chu Sheng examined Youming's expanded Floating Island and new abilities, then said its upgrade had not brought the major improvement he expected.
• Three nonhuman Sequence Adepts secretly agreed to attack the group after their companions finished being treated, while Wang Shu watched without warning them.
