Thor and the Captain kept their suspicions to themselves as they searched the city alongside the Undead Army.

Before long, they discovered that everyone in the city had fallen into a deep sleep.

They still showed signs of life, but they would never wake again.

In a sense, then, this was already a city of the dead.

Hela had reached the same conclusions as Thor and the Captain.

She suddenly felt that her efforts were pointless. The entire reason she had attacked Midgard was to force the gods to show themselves.

But now, someone else was already doing that without her having to lift a finger.

For a moment, her desire to attack Midgard diminished greatly.

Just then, Thor and the Captain approached her.

Hela turned straight to Thor and asked, "Tell me, is there any point in continuing?"

"Even without us, those people seem to be doing exactly what we would do."

Thor did not know how to answer her, but the Captain interjected, "Lady Hela, would you consider these people dead?"

He pointed at the "corpses" on the ground as he asked.

His words jolted Hela into realization. That was right. In a sense, these people were already dead.

But their bodies were still alive, and perfectly healthy at that.

If their worshippers were still alive, why would the gods show themselves?

At that thought, killing intent flashed in Hela's eyes. Before she could issue an order, however, the Captain spoke again.

"Lady Hela, do you still think the gods are your greatest enemies?"

"What do you mean?"

Hela looked at the Captain, her eyes filled with icy hostility. Anyone who stood in the way of her destroying the gods was her enemy.

Yet under her gaze, the Captain showed not the slightest hint of panic.
