Seeing Nick refuse again, Drake's lips twitched, but he could hardly say anything more.
After all, S.H.I.E.L.D. held the leading role in this partnership, and Steve had been the one to capture them. The Life Foundation had little to do with it.
He really had no grounds to make demands.
Saying too much would only damage their partnership.
But just because he kept quiet did not mean Steve would agree to Nick's plan.
The next second, a furious shout rang through the office.

"Nick, you're the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Your duty is to root out evil and keep the United States stable."
"But what are you doing now? Constantly bowing to sinister forces?"
"Is that guy really so strong that he's unbeatable?"
"I don't believe it."
Steve spoke with righteous conviction. Part of it came from his personality, but another part came from the tremendous increase in his strength.
After bonding with a symbiote and easily sweeping aside three incredibly powerful superhumans, it was impossible for Steve's mindset to remain entirely unchanged.
But he was no impulsive youngster. He had a steady temperament, so he had shown no sign of anything unusual.
Now, however, Tony kept pushing them, while Nick kept backing down. Steve finally could not hold back his anger.
In his view, even if Tony was powerful, he could at most be on par with Steve after his massive boost in strength.
And against an opponent on his own level, he had nothing to fear!
Listening to Steve's roar and seeing those eyes fixed on him, Nick suddenly realized that his own judgment had become unbalanced.
