Seeing Banner start to lose control of his emotions, Nick quickly raised a hand. "Hey, buddy, calm down."
"There's more to Tony than you think. Don't do anything rash."
At those words, Banner kept taking deep breaths. It took several minutes before he finally calmed down.
"Tell us what you want."
"You didn't come here today just to tell us about this, did you?"
Banner's tone was rather cold, but he had indeed calmed down.
Seeing that, Nick stopped holding back and directly stated his reason for coming.
"You're both exceptional talents, so I'd like to invite you to join S.H.I.E.L.D."
"Once you join S.H.I.E.L.D., you won't have to worry about Tony coming after you again. Whatever else happens, Tony has to show S.H.I.E.L.D. some respect."
Nick spoke with complete confidence, but in truth, he felt a little uneasy.
Thinking of Tony's past attitude toward S.H.I.E.L.D., he would probably do them that favor... right?
Regardless, the priority was to talk them into joining.
Hearing Nick's invitation, Banner and Eddie both fell into thought.
Honestly, neither of them knew what to choose right now.
Originally, they had planned to get revenge first after escaping. Although they didn't know how strong Tony was, even Nick, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., was warning them against it. Clearly, Tony was more powerful than they had imagined.
With revenge off the table, neither of them knew what to do.
So, after considering it, Banner was the first to nod. "All right, I agree. But S.H.I.E.L.D. can't stop me from getting revenge in the future."
Hearing Banner's condition, Nick smiled. "Here's to working together."
With that, he turned to Eddie. Eddie had never been particularly decisive; his earlier hesitation had simply come from not knowing which option to choose.
