Loki had not spent much time with Tony, but he had noticed that Tony seemed completely free of the resentment the weak felt toward their own weakness.
Whatever happened, he remained utterly unfazed. He even dared to openly tease a Supreme.
If he had been weak, Loki could have chalked it up to ignorance breeding fearlessness.
But judging by Tony's behavior, while Loki had no idea how powerful he was, he certainly was not weak.
And since he knew that beings on the level of a Supreme existed, his fearlessness was even less likely to stem from ignorance.
That raised a question: what gave him the confidence to tease a Supreme?
Earlier, Loki had been too busy constructing the Space-Time Portal to think about it. Now that he considered it more closely, Tony suddenly seemed shrouded in mystery.
A faint smile curled Tony's lips. Looking at the curious Loki, he slowly shook his head and said, "Even Supremes started out weak. Why should I feel bitter?"
"Maybe I'm no match for a Supreme right now, but sooner or later, I'll reach that level too. So there's nothing to feel bitter about."
Loki's mouth twitched at that. He suspected Tony was feeding him a line, but he had no proof.
His words sounded reasonable, but they were really nothing but empty talk.
If hard work alone could make someone a Supreme, Supremes would not be worth much.
Take Loki himself. His talent was among the very best of Asgard's gods, yet even he had no confidence that he would ever become a Supreme.
But from Tony's tone, becoming a Supreme seemed as simple as eating or drinking, without the slightest difficulty.
"I don't know where you get that confidence, but I'd like to see for myself."
