It left everyone feeling unsettled, even dampening their righteous sense of saving the world.

Fortunately, Steve had not forgotten their mission. He hurried forward to remove the Tesseract.
Although Loki had left, the alien army was still pouring in.
They could even see a Spacecraft emerging from the Space-Time Portal. If it actually made it through, there was no telling how many people would die.

A terrifying wave of energy swept outward in every direction from the Times Building.
The Tesseract was forcibly removed, and the Space-Time Portal hanging in the sky flickered once before closing.
Without the Tesseract, the energy contained in the Energy Emitter immediately destabilized, triggering a massive explosion.
Fortunately, the blast was not all that powerful. It only destroyed a few buildings.
"Is it over?"
Nick gazed at the smoke and dust filling the sky, sounding uncertain.
The fierce gunfire had stopped, and the Space-Time Portal that had weighed so heavily on everyone was completely gone.
Just then, Steve and the others emerged from the smoke. A flicker of joy crossed Nick's eyes at the sight.
"Did you take care of it?"
Although he already knew the answer, he still wanted confirmation from them.
Steve nodded and extended his right hand, the Tesseract resting quietly in his palm.
Nick let out a long sigh of relief, finally releasing all the tension he had been holding.
