In New York, Nick Fury, Coulson, and the others enjoyed another fireworks display through the live feed.
On the screen, they saw Pain sweep his left hand out and clench his fist.
The aerial units seemed to lose control.
They abruptly hurtled toward Pain.
Then they flew away from him just as quickly.
After the crushing came the dazzling fireworks.
Pain did not fly particularly fast.
But he moved with remarkable steadiness.
"Motherf-" Nick Fury could not stop swearing at the fireworks display.
What the hell was the intelligence department doing?
Why was there so little intelligence on Pain?
And why was it so inaccurate?
"How long until he reaches New York?"
"If his speed and direction remain unchanged, his estimated arrival time is 3:07 p.m."
"Coulson, go find Ah Xing," Nick Fury ordered.
"Yes, sir!"
Knock, knock, knock-
Coulson arrived at Ah Xing's new home.
Ah Xing had established the Ah Xing Orphanage in New York, taking in homeless orphans while also using it as a temporary base for the Foundation.
Naturally, Nick Fury had readily approved Ah Xing's request at the time.
At that moment, Ah Xing was familiarizing Ivan Vanko with how the Foundation operated.
Ivan Vanko had been following Ah Xing for a year now.
But he had not spent that entire year in New York.
Occasionally, he had to return to Dr. Gero to learn about the Mechanical Sect.
Coulson approached the front gate, looking like a thief.
Clack, clack, clack-
Ivan transformed-
The mechanical construct Ivan Vanko had brought extended dozens of gun barrels, aiming them through the gate at Coulson.
"Mr. Ah Xing, don't shoot! It's me, Coulson." Coulson hurriedly raised both hands above his head to show that he posed no threat.
Ah Xing saw Coulson's arrival on the surveillance
