Power Progression

Card ranks describe potential rather than a fixed combat hierarchy. Jiang’s card collection, transformed bodies, and summoned characters do not constitute a single cultivation rank for his true body 2 10 11 27.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Master-thief skill set 1 Already possesses flawless voice imitation and Star Plucker’s light-footed movement skills; uses them to maintain Charles and Kidd.
C-rank Cheng Yang Character Card 2 Obtains the younger Cheng Yang from his first Silver Box; the card provides a Qi Magic expert who can enter the world through a prepared introduction.
Memory and introductory Qi Magic boost 3 Old Man’s debut improves Jiang’s memory and grants limited Qi Magic knowledge.
E-rank Ah Xing special avatar 5 Acquires a transformation card with martial-arts, technology, and superpower advancement paths; selects the martial-arts route.
C-rank Iron-Headed A Xing 7 Upgrades Ah Xing using the unique Buddhist scripture obtained from Old Man. Gains Great Strength Vajra Leg and enhanced movement; later advancement options include Beggar Su, Wei Xiaobao, and Buddha’s Palm Sing.
Expanded card collection 10 Draws C-rank Alice, D-rank Zhang Fei, D-rank special character Yan Shuangying, and E-rank Soldier B.
Improved avatar attunement 11 Training begins unlocking abilities beyond Great Strength Vajra Leg, the only Ah Xing skill he can initially use proficiently.
Formal Qi Magic disciple 12 14 Joins Old Man’s lineage and begins instruction in basic spells and magic potions.
Enhanced incarnation technique and chakra cultivation 19 Iruka Umino’s ability lets him create a complete incarnation that does not disappear when struck like a fragile Shadow Clone. Chakra cultivation helps strengthen the mental energy needed to sustain it.

Incomplete Fire Demon incarnation — A (C) 25 Tewal’s sacrifice produces a Fire Demon Remnant card listing levitation, beginner flame control, and beginner dragon magic. Jiang postpones manifestation to avoid attracting the Ancient One.
Continued chakra and Qi Magic training 26 Trains during a month of relative peace; chakra develops more readily than Qi Magic, though Old Man considers his magical progress respectable.
B-rank childhood Krillin; C-rank Big Baby 27 Two Gold Boxes yield Krillin’s additional incarnation, Turtle School martial arts, and access to Kamehameha; Big Baby offers immense strength and enlargement.
Incomplete Zhang Fei (Twin Souls) — C (D) 28 Fuses Zhang Fei with Soldier B. The result remains effectively D-rank until supplied with suitable attributed energy.
B-grade Zhang Fei (Evil Eye Demon Seed) 35 Combines the incomplete card with the B-grade Evil Eye Demon Seed, enabling a powerful gorilla-like transformation. Also draws C-grade Jack the Ripper.
B-grade Dende avatar 44 His first Platinum Box supplies healing and Dragon Ball creation abilities, adding a dedicated support option.
B-grade Tien Shinhan Character Card 44 Combines ten B-grade fragments. The card lists three eyes, demonic aura, Afterimage Technique, Solar Flare, Tri-Beam, and Evil Containment Wave, though Jiang recognizes that some techniques may still require training.

Background / History

Jiang grew up in an orphanage in his previous life. After transmigrating, he was born to psychologist Jiang Zhe and Li Wei in Hong Kong. At six, he moved to New York to live with his mother’s adoptive father, Ander Wilson. Li Wei died of illness in 1992, and Jiang Zhe died that same year after failing to recover from his grief 2.

His grandfather subsequently took him to Jiang Zhe’s hometown in Qilu, where Jiang remained through his first year of high school. He later returned to New York, attended Midtown High School, and graduated early from Yale. By 2004, he had operated his father’s therapy clinic for six months 2.

Jiang gradually recognized that his new world was the Marvel universe. His familiarity with its films was incomplete, and he initially confused the films’ release dates with the timing of their events. His original plan was to remain inconspicuous until Iron Man’s emergence made supernatural abilities less conspicuous 2 3.

Appearance

  • Original body: Has short hair before transforming into Ah Xing; early clinic scenes frequently show him rubbing his eyes or brow from exhaustion 1 2 7.
  • Iron-Headed A Xing: Ear-length hair, a sleeveless burgundy shirt, shabby trousers with one leg rolled up, and battered sneakers. His voice changes to match the identity 7.
  • Childhood Krillin incarnation: Short, bald, and noseless, wearing clothing resembling monk’s robes 27.
  • Concealed identities: Does not show Sherlock his real face while performing the Charles/Kidd role 1.

Personality

Jiang combines playful showmanship with careful risk assessment. He presents his early crimes as harmless jokes, but privately admits that money and reputation motivate him. He initially avoids military-connected companies and political targets, rarely exposes his thief avatar publicly, and later refuses to test the Fire Demon because it might attract Kamar-Taj 1 4 25.

His early family losses make him protective of close relationships, but also reluctant to form new ones. He describes himself as unwilling to mourn distant strangers while finding it difficult to ignore suffering directly in front of him—especially a friend’s. During the cruise disaster, he helps willing survivors without accepting responsibility for every passenger 2 27 31.

His caution coexists with opportunism. He treats S.H.I.E.L.D.’s suspicion as a renewable source of Emotional Value and delights in rewards from supernatural spectacles. The museum crisis and Hulk–Zhang Fei battle show that he can profit from incidents with real casualties, even though his first close encounter with a corpse leaves him nauseated 16 19 25 42.

Jiang’s ambition extends beyond survival. Because he distrusts dependence on cards, he trains his own body and mental strength rather than assuming borrowed abilities will always remain available 11 26.

Abilities & Skills

Emotional Value System

Jiang’s system converts reactions to his actions into Emotional Value, which he spends on reward boxes and shop purchases 2.

  • Stronger personal impact produces greater returns; prominent people and comic-associated figures generally provide more than ordinary individuals 2 4.
  • Ordinary people become valuable collectively, especially when directly involved in a widely publicized incident 4.
  • Repeated familiar stunts lose effectiveness as audiences become accustomed to them 3.
  • A Silver Box costing 2,000 points allows a guiding keyword rather than a wholly random draw 4.
  • The first opening of each box type guarantees a reward at its highest available rank 2.
Reward box Emotional Value cost Stated reward ceiling
Bronze 100–999 D-rank or below 2
Silver 1,000–9,999 C-rank or below 2
Gold 10,000–99,999 B-rank or below; includes fragments 2
Platinum 100,000 B-rank cards, fragments, and items 2
Diamond 1,000,000 A-rank cards, fragments, and items 2

The shop’s S-rank Sea God Divinity costs 100 million Emotional Value plus additional unusual requirements. Jiang wants it as a means of understanding godhood, not necessarily to become the Sea God 2 11.

Identity Performance and Character Deployment

Jiang uses disguises, supernatural skills, constructed biographies, and psychological insight to make his identities and organizations appear credible 1 3 10 20.

  • Flawlessly imitates voices and possesses skills in stage magic, disguise, costume changes, and light-footed movement 1 2.
  • Supplies Old Man with a family connection, retirement story, antique shop, and explanations for Qi Magic’s origins 3.
  • Prepares Alice with a background and personality before presenting her to S.H.I.E.L.D. 20.
  • Character Cards can introduce people through invented entrances, provided the necessary basic conditions exist 2.
  • His work as a therapist helps him maintain convincing performances and avoid exposing his deception 10.

Incarnations and Clones

Avatar cards let Jiang assume another figure’s appearance and abilities; some special cards also provide additional incarnations 5 11 27.

  • Iruka Umino’s enhanced clone technique supports a complete Ah Xing incarnation capable of surviving attacks without immediately dispersing 19.
  • Incarnation combat drains mental energy, making chakra cultivation and mental training important 19 25.
  • Avatar powers do little to strengthen his original body directly, although residual muscle memory accelerates training 11.
  • Listed skills are not automatically mastered: practice is needed to access unfamiliar techniques 11 44.
  • Uses enhanced Shadow Clones for covert surveillance, including tracking David and the Four-Leaf Clover Organization 45.

Qi Magic and Chakra

Old Man formally instructs Jiang in Qi Magic, with emphasis on fundamentals before additional martial-arts study 12 14.

  • Learns spells and magic potions; Old Man identifies Deity Summoning as a third, largely lost branch of the discipline 14.
  • Uses chakra and a protective artifact to anchor himself and Gwen during the cruise storm 29.
  • Casts a Dried Lizard spell to propel the lifeboat away from the Tech 32.
  • Destroys a hostile being disguised as a waiter with magic 32.
  • Prepares potions and launches magical attacks against the Evil Eye Lord 33.

Martial Arts, Memory, and Tactical Judgment

Jiang exercises from childhood and intensifies his training after recognizing the danger of his world. His grandfather hires professional trainers and boxers to give him a foundation 7.

  • Great Strength Vajra Leg: Ah Xing’s kicks visibly dent Jiang’s workout weights 7.
  • Krillin’s power: Provides Kamehameha and enough strength to sense—and potentially break through—the spatial restraint around the Tech 27 33.
  • Enhanced memory: Recalls previous-life films more clearly and memorizes the cruise ship’s layout after consulting its map 3 28 30.
  • Threat assessment: Spots contradictions in John’s account, recognizes S.H.I.E.L.D.’s staged alley encounter, and identifies the Evil Eye Lord from Old Man’s lore books 6 19 31.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Protective charms and Qi Magic artifact — Made by Old Man; protect Jiang, warn him of danger, and later safeguard Gwen against the Evil Eye Lord’s attacks 5 15 29 33.
  • Rooster Talisman — Initially sealed; Jiang transfers its released power into a museum shield and can reclaim that power. Tewal’s interaction with it produces the incomplete Fire Demon card 4 20 24 25.
  • Tiger and Rabbit Talismans — Both obtained in sealed form 4 44.
  • Dragon Talisman — Unsealed; supplies dragon blasts that Jiang regards as a reusable energy weapon 44.
  • Dried Lizard and Premium Dried Pufferfish — Magical implements given to Old Man; Jiang also uses a Dried Lizard himself during the cruise crisis 4 10 12 32.
  • Hundred-forged blade — Has a sharpness trait; Jiang evaluates it using his familiarity with his grandfather’s antiques 5.
  • AK-47, Desert Eagle, and Yunnan Baiyao — Silver Box rewards 10.
  • Outer-layer stripping gloves — Remove an object’s outer layer at a luck cost determined by its durability; cannot strip whole living organisms 27.
  • Silver Ring Book and Yes-or-No Coin — Provide limited information about the past or present 35.
  • Fusion Card and rank fragments — Used to combine character cards or assemble new ones; ten B-grade fragments produce Tien Shinhan 27 28 44.
  • Terminator T-800 blueprint — Obtained from the Platinum Box; no construction is documented 44.
  • Three-Star Dragon Ball — Left at Al Psychiatric Hospital by a clone as part of Jiang’s developing scenario 45.

Relationships

  • Jiang Zhe — Father and psychologist; Jiang inherits his clinic and follows him into therapy work after his death 2 10.
  • Li Wei — Mother; her death from illness is followed by Jiang Zhe’s fatal decline 2.
  • Ander Wilson / Andre — Maternal grandfather and guardian. Supports Jiang’s education and training, encourages the cruise trip, and helps limit institutional interference after the disaster 2 7 27 44.
  • Old Man / Cheng Yang — A card-introduced Qi Magic expert posing as Jiang’s father’s distant cousin. Becomes an affectionate uncle figure and instructor; formally accepts Jiang into the lineage on behalf of a deceased senior fellow apprentice 3 5 12.
  • Gwen Stacy — Close friend and developing romantic interest. They have not formally defined their relationship; Jiang protects her during the cruise and maintains boundaries because she is seventeen 2 28 29.
  • Sheriff Sherlock — Friend and Distillery member who joined after Jiang saved his life. Reluctantly assists the Charles/Kidd persona with prank preparations 1 3.
  • George Stacy — Kidd’s target and Gwen’s protective father. The prank contributes to his demotion; he nevertheless entrusts Gwen’s safety to Jiang before their trip 3 27 28.
  • Frank Castle — Old Man’s contracted helper; Jiang brings him tea and participates alongside him in supernatural briefings 15 16.
  • Phil Coulson — S.H.I.E.L.D. intermediary who investigates Jiang’s connection to Old Man. Jiang answers cautiously and considers him a useful source of Emotional Value 10 16.
  • Nick Fury — Suspicious observer and prospective recruiter. Jiang exploits his agency’s investigations while avoiding its control 19 27 35.
  • Natasha Romanoff and Melinda May — Agents whose attempts to approach or test Ah Xing he recognizes and evades 11 19.
  • Tony Stark and Pepper Potts — Fellow cruise survivors. Their recruitment of Krillin gives Jiang an indirect foothold inside Stark Industries 30 33 34.
  • Victor Duru — S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who trusts Jiang’s supernatural judgment and helps operate the lifeboat 30 31 32.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Kidd’s Public Spectacle

  • Builds the Distillery and uses Kidd’s theatrical “crimes” to gather Emotional Value while avoiding dangerous targets 3 4.
  • Escalates to a balloon-and-fireworks display directed at George Stacy, followed by a noticeable earthquake 3 4.
  • Police humiliation and public attention generate nearly 10,000 points—far more than his earlier cautious operations 4.

Foundation and Wraith Scenario

  • Uses Ah Xing’s combat power and planned recruitment of Alice to develop the Foundation into a credible supernatural organization 7 10.
  • Establishes independently appearing identities as S.H.I.E.L.D. probes Ah Xing and Old Man 17 19 20.
  • Enchants the museum shield with Rooster Talisman power, then monitors Tewal’s mutation through his Ah Xing incarnation 20 21 24.
  • Reclaims the borrowed power and creates a Freddy illusion after the confrontation. The incident raises his total beyond 13,000 points and yields the Fire Demon Remnant card 24 25.

The *Tech* Cruise Disaster

  • Accepts his grandfather’s invitation, travels with Gwen, and studies the vessel’s layout and safety routes beforehand 27 28.
  • Protects Gwen during the storm and guides a small group away from the ship’s dangerous compartments 29 30 31.
  • Recognizes the Evil Eye Lord, attempts escape by lifeboat, and becomes the survivors’ principal source of supernatural knowledge 31 32.
  • Identifies the cross-shaped pupil as a weakness; his Krillin incarnation delivers the decisive Kamehameha 33.
  • Uses Krillin’s subsequent employment as Stark Industries’ chief security consultant to place an identity within the company 34.

Zhang Fei and Hulk

  • Upgrades Zhang Fei using the Evil Eye Demon Seed and anticipates a confrontation involving Hulk and the military 35.

  • Gains substantial Emotional Value from the destructive battle; Zhang Fei defeats Hulk and carries Bruce Banner away 42.
  • Reaches 100,000 points, opens his first Platinum Box, and adds Dende and Tien Shinhan to his resources 44.

Al Psychiatric Hospital and the Dragon Ball

  • Uses clones to investigate the Four-Leaf Clover Organization’s abductions and hospital operation, then plants a Three-Star Dragon Ball 45.
  • Deploys Tien Shinhan toward the hospital while Krillin introduces Tony and listening S.H.I.E.L.D. agents to the Dragon Balls’ purported wish-granting rules 46 47 48.
  • Krillin secretly directs the ball to Zuer after the hospital files are exposed; Zuer immediately surrenders it when Tien asks for it 50.

Trivia
